Looking for novel adaptations

I'm interested in finding anime that have been adapted from novels. I enjoyed "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu" and "Juuni Kokuki". I was wondering if there are any other novel adaptations out there.

Maria-sama ga Miteru is the only novel(s) adaptation that I can think of right now.

Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu
Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora
Kamisama Kazoku

I'm pretty sure Zero no Tsukaima and Shinigami no Ballad were also based on novels.

Well, I've read some of the manga so... either there is also a novel, or you're mistaken

The manga is based on the novel, though later diverges from it quite a lot. I'd guess the anime is based on the manga mostly.

A couple more novel adaptions:
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of the Galactic Heroes)
Seikai no Monshou & Seikai no Senki I & II (Crest of Stars & Banner of Stars)
Slayers
Kyou Kara Maou
Kino no Tabi (Kino's Journey)
Scrapped Princess

Some very new ones:
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
Brave Story

Other people mentioned all the more famous ones I could think of (FMP, Shakugan no Shana, Maria-sama ga Miteru, Zero no Tsukaima, The Third, Scrapped Princess, and Kamisama Kazoku) except Read or Die.
Kage Kara Mamoru (of all things) was also based on a light novel series.

Lots of light novel and novels have manga adaptations. Sometimes they're spin-offs of the main story (like Scrapped Princess), others they just retell the story (Suzumiya Haruhi).

.hack//SIGN.

If I remember correctly, the whole .hack series started with a novel. .hack//SIGN is the most serious and story based anime series based on this world. There's also .hack//Legend of the twilight bracelet, which is more humor based. Licenced anime. One of my favourite.

Kanon

Based on a visual novel if you decide that counts. A visual novel is a program on the computer which scrolls through the writing of the novel as you click, adding in background scenes, character pictures and music in time. Some allow you to make choices. A short romance anime and another favourite.
