NSA spying under fire: 'You've got a problem':
"In a heated confrontation over domestic spying, members of Congress said Wednesday they never intended to allow the National Security Agency to build a database of every phone call in America. And they threatened to curtail the government's surveillance authority. Top Obama administration officials countered that the once-secret program was legal and necessary to keep America safe. And they left open the possibility that they could build similar databases of people's credit card transactions, hotel records and Internet searches." See: http://news.yahoo.com/nsa-spying-und...164530431.html The Obama crew seems to think that privacy is a privilege, and not a right. I guess they thought Orwell's "1984" was an instruction manual, instead of a warning....... |

They seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that shooting a teenage girl in the head for speaking out is a heinous thing to do for any possible reason.
Dumber than Dumber.

It is bizarre to see even terrorists can fear bad PR. Guess the shooting incident must have hampered their recruitment efforts sufficiently for them to try and do damage control. But as you might expect, Terrorists don't have any experience with trying to make themselves look good...

No, the government in general (not just one side) know it's a right, but would rather tout "security" as being #1 most important, trumping everything. |

I think that is more true of the Senate, whose Intelligence committee has oversight responsibilities in this area. The House is a lot less plugged-in, especially the backbenchers. What makes this issue politically interesting is that it joins the libertarian wings of the Democrats and Republicans against the centrists.

Satellite images show entire Tibetan villages ‘relocated’ under controversial Chinese program:
"By the end of this year, the report estimates, 90 percent of Tibet’s nomadic population will have been moved into sedentary “New Socialist Villages,” effectively ending their traditional lifestyle and, because many know no other way to provide for themselves, making them reliant on the Chinese government." Hate to say it, but that definitely sounds very... Colonial. China would definitely hate to be compared to the old British Empire, but in this case the label is well-deserved.
