There was no mention of Touma and co. in the description right?

Maybe they will be out this time. Touma didn't appeared in Vol 15 so maybe this is probably another one to show the development of the new characters.

Nothing.

I think this will be similar to Volume 8 with Kuroko, as in the focus will be taken away from the main characters, though they might appear Between The Lines.

We obviously can't tell, sorry. I'm expecting it would be Touma and gang working behind the scenes while everyone else fight it out.

He did joke about it in an author's note.

General feeling is that Fiamma is the most likely candidate.

Just like Accelerator lost more than a half of his calculation ability when the bullet pierced his brain. He is a perfect candidate from Villain to Hero (bonus points since he got converted via Touma's punch).

And we need a protagonist immersed in the Magic side too.

We've only had the "Swiss Army Knife of world-ending powers", along with a Level 5 and Level 0 as protagonists.

Well, it does end with a sort of implications things are going on behind the scene at Natural Selector.

It almost seems necessary- The reason why the three protagonists system works is because Kamachi wants to tell different stories in the same World. But now that all three had converge on the Gremlin questline, he's going to need someone else to tell another side of this conflict. And of course- Magic will always be the antagonist and Academy City will always be his 'good guy'... Unless they fight among themselves.

On the topic of whether a Hero would appear in this volume, there are equal chances that they'd appear and they wouldn't. Unless we determine which date this happens, we would not know if this is like Volume 15 or it happens after NT3.
