Episode 1:
Hmm, so the real story begins now. Thought it was kinda interesting to see Utaha and Eriri's past when they first met. I mean, from the start, the two already have a rocky relationship. The love triangle between the two and Tomoya is slightly amusing although I'm more in favor of Utaha here. Idk why but the pacing feels kinda slow so far. Hope it picks up soon. Also no Michiru at all this episode. I hope this season will give her more screen time.

Both of them wanting each other's autographs so badly. Cute. At least they finally got it after a year
Well, episode 1 wasn't really about fan-service. And according to the cast from AnimeJapan 2017 stream for Saenai, season 2 is supposed to be pretty serious compared to season 1. Probably referring to more drama. Last edited by larethian; 2017-04-13 at 14:05. |

I notice that the animation quality in the OP is different, in the way that the original character design is often overlooked. Too bad, the concept has a staggering contrast compared to the OP of season 1, which focused a lot more on making Blessing's first visual novel.

I'm not sure is it quality or style. Because that style matches the font and he kind of scenary used in the OP, but it doesn't seem to match the rest of the episode.
If we count GS in then it looks like we got 4 volumes this season, but surely not the whole GS would be adapted.... -- edit: It seems I've mixed up the memory of FD and GS.... And on twitter there are comments about the OP drawing shows the style by Ishihama Masashi, who have also made OP of Occultic;Nine and ED of Erased. Last edited by Alf; 2017-04-14 at 05:39. |

awww.... I can't stop grinning when watching episode 1
Eriri X Utaha moment is too sweet to be dismissed... if only Tomoya isn't there, they might do collab already but even if I'm Eriri's fan, I can't deny the fact that Megumi is really shining in this episode... she just need several sentences to steal all the spotlights... |

Alright, stopping by quick because of a few things that REALLY stood out for me.
The Snow, aka reference to White Album 2. For one, this highlights Maruto's willingness to abandon the 'main heroine' for a sub heroine if the story calls for it, or at least the sub heroine has as good a chance as the main one. He's done it there, and he's also done it in Classroom Crisis. As such, can't really count out anyone here either, despite the show's titular main heroine is Kato. One reason why I really enjoy Saekano as a shipper, since Maruto can go any direction in terms of the winning couple. For another, Maruto has this penchant in mixing childhood friend elements to heroines who aren't of the trope. I've always said Kazusa had always felt a lot like a childhood friend to me (at least MUCH more than Setsuna), and this pretty much proves it wasn't just my delusions. Maruto himself references that the sub-heroine is the childhood friend in this mock version of White Album 2, where the actual WA2 sub-heroine was Kazusa. There's more parallels, but that's getting into true ending spoiler territory so I'll leave it at that. Which brings me to what happens here too... Megumi having the key to MC's house. Goddamit Maruto, stop giving Megumi all the childhood friend quirks, like having access to the other's home. It's weird too since I thought Eriri barged in one time last season, but I might be misremembering something. (Also, why was MC surprised that Eriri read Metronome in Love? Wasn't he the one who told her to read the series in a flashback from last episode) In any case, this wraps up it all together that pretty much any girl has a chance, if you take White Album 2 The Snow as foreshadowing. Sure Kato still has the lead since she's like a sub-heroine character that's put in the main heroine role (if that makes any sense?), but I'm still rooting for Michiru. Last season after all went with mini arcs like Eriri, Utaha, Izumi, some Kato, and then finally Michiru, and it looks like this season won't be any different. Maybe the novels would also follow the same format? On another note, I still don't know if I want a White Album 2 anime sequel. I already convinced myself that I was satisfied with what has been shown, but I would be lying if hasn't shaken my convictions...

I like the direct competition from rouge en rouge. Should make things more exciting. |
