Macross Frontier Manga Discussion

Narf. Why do writers think that negative endings are somehow more "etched into peoples mind" than positive ones? In the sense that it makes the audience unhappy, so they discuss their unhappyness for years to come, he is right. But, hey, good writers can also write happy endings which are so good that they are the topic of discussion for many years.

I just don't understand that mindset of "Only bad endings are memorable".

As for sequels, how would they be hard to write? <sigh> Sometimes I wonder about the lack of imagination some writers exhibit. Take a simple look at fanfiction for myriads of stories which have been written after the ending of a series or movie. Sure, a lot of them are written by dyslexic teenagers who write self-insertion Mary Sue's, but there is also enough material on the web which doesn't have to hide itself from professional authors.

And I could do at least three to five OVA ideas off the top of my head as to what to do for either the series or the movie. Immediately. How is it hard? Gah!

I really need to sleep, so I can't comment on the first part, but I did omit the reasoning part (mostly since I can't really put it into English. 賛否両論 just don't feel fine put as a reasoning. I'm really a bit confused of the meaning of what Kawamori wanted to portray lol) Again, it's really a summarizing, so...

For the hard to make sequel part, I think it's just his usual self of avoiding to answer question directly that he wanted to close Macross F franchise. Honestly, the franchise has gone and explored for these 3 years, it's time to move on.

Well, I disagree that in the regard that it doesn't need to be closed off completely. As is Macross tradition, the next big project won't be a sequel but instead a new story with new characters. But it doesn't mean that there cannot be one or two OVA's to tide us over and to give the characters some closure. After all, even Macross 7 got two OVA's and one movie. >.<

How involved was Kawamori with Macross 7? I heard he was mostly a supervisor, doing mecha designs and had the story concept? He didn't direct or was involved in the script. In that case, comparing Frontier to M7 is a bad idea. Try Zero or Plus, instead? Seems like Kawamori wants to move on with Frontier and this was his closure?

Uh, well, I think we got some conflicting statements in the above mentioned interview, although Natsus seems to think he is not genuine in those remarks.

Anyway, would someone here, besides Kawamori ( who, of course, isn't here. I think. ) mind one OVA each for the series and the movie? Or several? There is still so much which could be done with those characters...

That's a really pretty Sheryl though.

As an addendum, her pose and expression suggests determination and hope, thus I rather consider it as something like even Sheryl doesn't know but she's hoping for a wedding. And of course only one earring, as Hime would be wearing the other.

?_? You should be able to sign up with either both Visa or American Express credit card. Try it again?

Though I wouldn't rec Amazon.co.jp if you're just buying a measle book... 'Cuz the shipping is always 3000 yen (around 30 USD) for international shipping, and I think it's mostly DHL for my part.

(I only love to use Amazon if, say, I have these 5~10 books+oto/BL game magz that has come out for that month, plus Drama CDs and half complete DVDs No munnies for Blu-Ray, nor a Blu-Ray player. It practically put the 3000++ yen shipping into good ol' use Unfortunately, the discounted pre-orders for games just bitched out for no international shipping. )

Never had any trouble with Amazon JP, annnnd S&H for me is 2000 yen. It's definitely not cheap, but you at least get it very quickly. My copy of Universal Bunny actually came in on the release day (shipping it early and timezones helped), but I think they changed to DHL after. End of Triangle came in two days (it didn't get as prompt of a shipping as Universal Bunny did).
