What are the chances of them appointing a studio (eg. Madhouse, Sunrise, etc) to make an anime reboot that will cover most of the FMP story? I hope it’s not close to zero. I think 10 years is already too late to make a continuation of Second Raid’s plot. So the most logical route for an anime is a reboot (like Hunter x Hunter, Ushio to Tora, Arslan Senki, and the upcoming LoGH). This season’s Utawarerumono sequel (Itsuwari no Kamen) can work because the first series stands on it’s own and the story already ended, so newcomers will have no problem jumping on the sequel directly. The same cannot be said for Second Raid. All in all, I hope the announcement will be a new anime.

My personal opinion (so take this however you want) - I can handle a well made reboot, I can handle taking off straight from the end of 2nd Raid, I can handle starting off with more of the comedy (Fumoffu 2nd season, the cruise ship ), but please, I don't think I can handle Another!!! Not without finishing the first series off.

This, It would feel weird if they animate Another without animating the rest of the original series.

As for a reboot, they could do that or they could continue the storyline after TSR and use one of the first couple episodes to make a recap episode, something like an episode where Sousuke is writing a report for Mythril detailing what has happened with his mission so far, that way people that are not familiar with the series could catch up and the old fans like us wouldn't have to wait even more for new episodes.

But first we need the announcement to be for a new season

Honestly an entire reboot rather than a straight continuation would be rather disappointing to me. Despite some problems I have with the first series, the story doesn't need to be retold in my opinion, especially with regards to TSR material because Kyoto Animation handled that with near perfection. Besides we've had that story available to us for years, so new content featuring further advancement of the story in anime form is the ideal route to go.

FMA Brotherhood's reboot wasn't so much because of time, but rather to tell the manga story that differed from the 2003 anime, so a retelling of the early episodes makes sense. Now, HxH 2011's reboot was very much because of time that they re imagined the early episodes. However that also makes sense to me because the original cel animation of the first series compared to newer digital reboot is a big difference. However, transitioning from TSR to a new series wouldn't be too bad in terms of animation since TSR really holds up very well.

Well even if it miraculously turns out to be a sequel to TSR I have no doubt Gatoh will change things up. Every anime incarnation of FMP turns out to be better than its source material thanks to Gatoh's involvement. He's changed a lot of things for the better imo.

Better not get my hopes up for TSR continuation, coz if it doesn’t turn out that way, I’ll be really disappointed. At this point, anything anime will satisfy me. New novels (or non-anime projects), not so much.

You, sir, are a true jaded fan who knows not to believe or get your hopes up. The sign of a long time FMP fan . Honestly I wish I could not believe them because of all of the BS before, but with the sheer amount of teasing they have given us this time around, they might have suckered me once again. Still, I keep telling myself not to be disappointed when they give us more bullshit that we do not want/care about.

Wow, I get it now: being a FMP fan is like being attached to a really unreliable ex who keeps trying to sucker us back into believing them. Lets just hope they prove us wrong and "change" for once.

So, big announcement. Well... I can't say any more than this. Or rather, somehow everytime there's this event you might feel that I always appear on stage, so you might be thinking "You again?". Yes, I think the same way! With such a grand title like "Special Press Conference", honestly there are some parts that are tricky but this time will I be able to make the announcement that won't betray fan expectations, I wonder? I'd certainly appreciate it if you come to the hall.

I'm with you. I've seen this hype cycle play out far too many times and there's nothing in it for me. I can't read Japanese and the old novels stopped being translated at volume 4. It's now been years since the last novel came out and unless they are planning to do something back with the original cast I don't see any new anime being greenlit. There's always the chance of a full reboot for a new marketing push with reprints or something but I find that doubtful.

Yeah, I'm jaded as a FMP fan.

You do know that there are fan translations of all the other volumes, right? I agree that from an official p.o.v. it doesn't show much interest, if that's what you were trying to say, but at least fans can read the whole story thanks to some people who translated the rest of the novels.

Ontopic, I don't want a reboot, I don't want some freakin' Another, I want a continuation, and a finalization of the anime that started 13 years ago. (Not wanting manga, new novels, or some crappy playing cards, action figures, board games, or anything other like that is a given in my case).

But at least, it's nice to see this forum section so active, it's good to know FMP has so many fans, even after this many years.
