There's a new comic...
again nothing new but it is definately something that wasn't done in anime... http://www.89890.com/comic/2578/ It's part of Side Arms Volume 14 Ontei wa Kanashiku, Shatei wa Tooku (First Half) Kurtz and Sousuke are enjoying eating yakitori in the outskirts of Tokyo. There, Kurtz meets his middle school teacher, Ms. Shiina. Ms. Shiina asks if Kurtz is still playing the guitar. Kurtz for some reason says yes, and that his rock band is gaining popularity. After the meeting, Kurtz begins to rethink his current job as a mercenary and ponders if he can still go back to becoming a guitarist like he dreamed of when he was a kid. He digs out his old Gibson Les Paul guitar that his father left him... Kurtz decides to give Ms. Shiina a present by inviting her to his mini-rock concert at a local bar in Tokyo. Sousuke helps Kurtz by acknowledging to give the invitation to Ms. Shiina. However, Sousuke learns that Ms. Shiina wasn't who Kurtz thought she was anymore.... We all know that Kurtz lived in Tokyo until he was 14. Some additional info is revealed in this two-part story: Kurtz's father was a journalist and loved to play the guitar. Kurtz would learn to play his father's guitar as a kid and would play classic rock in middle school. However, Kurtz's life would change 180 degrees when his family was killed by a terrorist bomb explosion at an airport. Distraught, he quit school and went to a militia camp in Lebanon to learn military skills for revenge. He learned everything from being able to handle various weaponry and tactical fighting skills. One thing that stuck with him was his seemingly innate ability to excel in sniping. And ever since then, he was a mercenary for hire.

Good news! The fact he decided to make it two novels instead of cramming the ending into one novel (rushing it) shows that he definitely cares about the series and its ending and that he doesn't want to make it half-assed.

I knew it !!! I was pretty sure, that he would say this isn't the last novel xP
I have got mixed fellings... I was happy cause I thought it's the last novel, no more waiting, finally everything would be clear and of course, maybe KyoAni would make next season... but... when I thought that this would be the end... no more Sousuke, no more Chidori... no more waiting... no more speculations about what next... I got really sad.... but, I guess, It's not time for being worry about that...

Epic. I'm glad to see it won't be rushed and wrapped into one. When I heard 'final novel' I was really hoping it'd be split into parts like EDBD, I just couldn't see it all fitting into one without being mashed together. So excited. Can't wait to order my copies of this book!

Finally we have some good news. I like the title of the novel, maybe we'll actually get a good ending. I want the series to end soon but I think making the novel into at least two parts is the way to go, that way the ending wont feel rushed.

Probably 2 parts. He said he wanted to finish the series in 2 novels. Hopefully after he finishes part 1, he will follow up on part 2 soon afterward. Would be a shame if it took another 2 years to complete it..
