Hunter already explained that most of these are Seinen, but you misunderstood my point in the first place. I did not say that EVERY shonen manga would have teenagers as the main protagonists, but that it explains why teenagers are defeating the powerful villains in the Naruto series, because it is intended for young boys; the main targeted fan-base. If a large population of fans can relate more easily to characters in a series (even if by only age) then it's plausible that they'd be interested in the series for a longer period of time and more deeply.
