As a book-reader, I want to say to all show-watcher: Welcome to limbo, we've already been stuck here for a while. Now be thankful that at least they show writers are on a strict schedule and you'll have another season in a year... Meanwhile who know when the next book will finally come out...

This situation could have been prevented (rather delayed) if the writing team had treated books 4 & 5 with more reverance. So much necessary political simmering for future events to mine, consquences of the war and key characters to build for the sake of embellishing others - namely Daenerys. Sure, red wedding bandwagoners might complain about a lack of epic action and hurr durr "awesome", but the payoff a year latter would feel emensly earnt unlike it did here in a watered down Hollywood vision.
There were some neat moments slotted in this season, but they sacrificed too much to put them there. |

That's gona go either Danny is all enslaved (and possibly winds up dead) thus frustrating the shit out of the audience/readers again at another lead character getting the shaft, or she gets herself another army and finally someone among the living realises the series has dragged its ass enough and goes to catch up to the NK who just wants all this shit over with so he can get back to his soaps.

I just marathoned this season in two days...you know, for the watch.
Most interesting plotlines: Arya's mercenary training, Tyrion's rise to power (LOL), Jaime's trip. They were pretty straight and fast enough, unlike Cersei's umpteenth attempt to control everyone which, at long last, backfired or Theon and Sansa's endless torment of a life. Somewhere deep in my heart, I want them to reach the temple of black and white and just die, it would really be a mercy if you think about their past lives and what could possibly await them in the future... I'm not a fan of Danny, she's still too inexperienced to rule and despite having dragons, she doesn't know how to display her power. IMO killing all the great family lords would send the appropriate message for her kind of rule, although she doesn't want to be that kind of ruler - makes you wonder how she would fare in Westeros, with all the House history and council plotting. It's a good thing she didn't kill Tyrion, after all. Jaime's bad luck seems to follow him wherever he goes. Although he somehow managed to survive thanks to Doran's awesomeness, Myrcella dying was rather unnecessary. First off, it means Ellaria just committed suicide...and I bet her last words will be #worth when Doran executes her for this. Secondly, I don't expect her daughters to get away with it either, which makes one further wonder about this particular assassination and what it accomplishes. Anyway, back to Jaime, he would have made a good knight if the universe didn't go out of its way to bite him in the ass every time he tried to do something decent. Alright, so, an entirely different direction from what I had initially expected, with some plotlines completely removed and others radically changed, but it's still good old game of thrones. Looking forward to the next season! EDIT: About Jon Snow and his ill-timed death...he had failed the night watch, Olly knew what he had to do :P Last edited by Kafriel; 2015-06-23 at 01:20. |

A really good discussion of the prophecy's and so on concerning Jon, goes into TV and book stuff (some some spoilers maybe and extra info not covered properly in the TV show). Recommend watching. Check out his other stuff too.

The Three-Eyed Raven has been recast and will be played by Max von Sydow!
For those who don't know who Max von Sydow is, here are some of the roles he played before.

There's broad speculation that the way the producers can justify their "Jon Snow is definitely dead" claims after he comes back is by saying he's now reborn as Jon Stark. Plus there's a grainy photo that purports to show Kit Harrington on-set wearing Stark armor (as opposed to Night's Watch armor).
