Ojisan's girlfriend, not. In elf's standard, Ojisan looks like an orc.
Ojisan is obessess with Sega games. Surprisingly, Sega is aware of it. https://twitter.com/SEGA_OFFICIAL/st...12653159342084 |

I find it hilarious but comedy is subjective.
It's largely just inoffensive goofy meme humour with some "failed millennial" humour thrown in occasionally. One of my favourite Isekai (although that's not saying much). It's a manga source so it won't have the cringey teen fic sensibilities that you see from more the usual LN sourced anime.

Do you really have to say that every time there's a new show in or loosely connected to the isekai genre? There's plenty of great isekai, and I'd say most that I've seen are at least good, though admittedly one of the worst anime I ever saw was one. That said, isekai is far broader than just the OP harem protagonist who saves the world (though again even those are often at least fair). And this one is several steps removed from just about everything people complain about with the genre. It's not about a guy in another world, it's about a guy trying to take care of a guy who spent seventeen years trying to survive in another world. Far as I've read there's not even really any mention of him having saved the world; he has powers, but that's hardly the point of the story. Instead it's full of confusion as the nephew deals with a guy who's seventeen years out of the loop. Didn't even have a romance over there, though that's largely because the concept of Tsundere only came out in 2004 and he was isekai'd in 2000, so in his eyes the standard lines were cruel harassment.

These days, most Isekai anime are either used for wish-fulfillment & self-masturbatory purposes using RPG game mechanics (where you can read status & all that shit) and collect waifus; or used as a backdrop for comedy. I miss the sincere & awe-inspiring isekai stories.

Aura Battler Dunbine is said to be the first anime invovled isekai. A Japanese grease biker is transferred to isekai by a magic summon. The reason of his summon is he is one of people who are capable to pilot giant robots. He has a fairy as his companion, who sits on his shoulder. As a typical anime from Yoshiyuki Tomino, almost every major characters are gone in the final battle. The moral of the story: war is bad. Also, Princess of Mars had more influence to old school anime than The Chronicles of Narnia. However, Japan evenutally develop its own isekai genre. Just has D&D and Wizadry had influenced to old school RPG. Another RPG infleunce was The story of the Ring(Lord of Ring outside Japan). The making of Dragon Quest shows that Japan developed their own genre of RPG. The novel of Suzumiya Harhi somewhat explored these overused genres: 1. future human: Their time travel ability was overused in fiction. 2. ESP human: Their psychic power was overused in fiction. 3. isekai human: No one is ever identified as the one, but the narrator noted he often encountered a strangely dressed people hanging around his school. 4. Super advanced civilization from ancient time: The narrator sometimes discover the out of the world materials from relics. |
