[Manga] Naruto Chapter 550 Discussion

Welcome to the weekly manga chapter discussion thread. This thread is created early to discuss spoilers and speculation about the upcoming chapter as well as discussion of said chapter once it has been released.

As per the forums rules, please don't ask for or mention about where to download the (licensed) manga. Also remember not to post or link to any translations of the manga, since this is illegal as well. Posting a synopses or summary is fine (and welcome) but please do not discuss scans, raws, translation groups, etc. Additionally, if you are posting someone else's synopsis (or their translation of a synopsis), then please provide credit were credit is due.

It's a new week, so that means new Naruto spoilers...that are already out:

-The crow emerges, but Itachi fully expected it to occur.

-Suddenly, Itachi attempts to use Amaterasu on Naruto, but the technique fails. Instead of hitting Naruto, it spreads to consume the Cerberus. And then Nagato.

-Cut to Kabuto, who suddenly realizes that Itachi has broken free of Kabuto’s control.

-Once things calm down, Itachi reveals that he has been placed under a genjutsu by the crow that negates Kabuto’s control. It seems Itachi placed Shisui’s other eye in the Crow, and gave it the ability to use one genjutsu, and ultimate illusion technique that would react to an MS and cast the illusion of “Protect Konoha” on the MS-user. Supposedly, this results in Itachi losing the MS, but the translation is a little wonky, so I am unsure…

-After this discussion, Nagato’s burned body slowly reconstructs himself, and he begins his rampage. Using the powers of Pain, Nagato attacks with Shinra Tensei, then uses Preta’s power to begin to draw power from Naruto and Kirabi (as he does, his hair slowly starts to turn red again).

P.S. There is not Naruto or WSJ next week, so don't expect new spoilers till the 15th or so.

This week, we can see that Itachi did give something to Naruto. Is it a technique that can prevent such attacks from Sasuke Amaterasu or genjutsu.

However, i hoped there will be an explanation of why he believes Itachi in Naruto to save his brother from Madara.

550: A hope revealed

The crow flies out of Naruto’s mouth and circles above his head, the MS swirling in its eye.

Naruto: “Itachi! what is that thing? What did you put into me?!”

Itachi: “Something to help you fight my little brother naruto, do you remember when you fought my doppleganger alongside Kakashi senpai?”

Naruto flashbacks to the fight with Itachi when they were going to Rescue Gaara.
He remembers being caught in the Genjutsu.
He remembers Grandma Kyo telling him “If the fight is one-on-one then you run!”.
He remembers Kakashi telling him how it all happens in an instant.

Naruto: “Yeh i remember, i’m not all that good against Genjutsu, never have been but I’ve got my chakra mode now!!”. Naruto Drops out of chakra Mode, “Taju Kagebunshin no Jutsu”, a hundred naruto clones leap towards itachi.
Naruto: “all i have to do is get out of chakra mode and i can get out of any genjutsu!!”

Itachi appears directly behind naruto, “You can’t afford to get caught up in it in the first place naruto!”
He grabs naruto by the throat and stabs him in the back with a Kunai.

Naruto: “Aaargh”

Itachi: “I’m sorrry naruto, i wish i had failed this mission too!”

He dissapeare from behind naruto and reappears next to nagato. The two summoned creatures also dissapear leaving nagato and Itachi facing naruto and Bee.

Naruto: “What do you mean you wish you had failed?!! naruto is still standing holding his back looking severely hurt.

Itachi: “I don’t have time for that naruto, it won’t help you to know anyway. But you need to know about that crow!”

Nagato turns to itachi:” I have some control, I’m doing it now, I won’t be able to give you long, do what you must”. He sits on the floor and creates hand signs, a massive Seal appears on the floor surrounding both itachi and nagato”

Kabuto: what the hell???!!! why are they not returning to me?!! what are you doing Nagato!!
……………………..

Naruto: “what the hell is that”?!!

Itachi: “Naruto we don’t have long, listen. I knew if my little brother ever chose to follow madarra then it wouldn’t be long before he got my eyes too. I don’t know what abilities he’ll possess but the level of battle that you two must face at that time will be higher than a battle between kages. You cannot afford to have a weakness against the sharingan even if only for a second, that is where that crow comes in”.

The crow suddenly dives towards naruto and flies back into his mouth.

Itach: No genjutsu will work on you whilst that is there naruto it will absorb any genjutsu thrown your way even my Tsukoyomi. It will also…

The seal on the ground suddenly dissapears and two caskets rise from the ground behind itachi and nagato. The lids close over them and they dissapear.

Naruto: !!???!
Bee: ??!!?!?

………..

Kabuto is sitting back now with a big smile on his face loooking all relaxed. ” You two did give me a little trouble but since you completed your mission all is forgiven”.
He holds up a vial in front of his blade full of blood. We see a flashback of naruto as itachi pulls back a vial of the blood from where he stabbed him.

Kabuto: “Now Naruto kun, alive or dead you will be my puppet”

From the shadows: “I was about to say the exact same thing”

Kabuto:!!!!!

The grow comes out of Naruto's mouth and sits on his shoulder. Itachi explained that the mangekyou on the crow belonged to Uchiha Shisui, the strongest genjutsu user of the Uchiha clan. The eye has a unique technique that only Shisui can use. Shisui had the eye prepared for Itachi the last time they met just in case it's needed

*The picture quality ain't top notch so I can't read the details about what the genjutsu actually does. I can't read the part about what happened to Shisui either.

As far as the battle goes Itachi uses Amaterasu to take care of Nagato's summon's for good. He also tried to burn Nagato but Nagato used shinratensei to blow the flames away. Bee goes into tailed best mode but Nagato sucks away his chakra and Nagato's hair turns black. Naruto goes to help bee but Nagato now moving with his own legs tries to suck chkara from Naruto as well

Bee just can't catch a break. He keeps on fighting people who can stuck chakra LOL

Seeing all of Nagato's abilities in one person would be pretty cool. Now we just need him to go lose an eye so Naruto can have a pet crow that has both the Sharingan and Rinnegan

seems the blood spoilers (& the mysterious figure with Kabuto) were false, but Nagato is now rampaging around .. with black hair !



can't see Itachi surviving till the end (as much as I'd like to), he'll likely be killed my Madara in a titanic (I hope) fight or by not fighting Sasuke (lets Sasuke kill him .. unless Jesus interferes)

on the other hand - maybe he will live and the truth will be revealed (so - pardoned) .. thus at least 1 Uchiha blood lives, because Madara'll die (obviously) and Sasuke might too (DRAMA)

this is one of the best 'Shippuden chapters', maybe the best for me (save for Madara's reveal post Itachi-Sasuke fight)

as far as I understood this Shisui's Mangekyou Ultimate illusion (Koto Amatsukami ?) is once-per-10-years (Shisui's regular sharingan control like Danzou used on the Head Samurai is once-per-day)


it's like super mind control, the need to fulfill the command overrides everything else, even ET .. in this case - protect Konoha

in fact, it's kinda like Lelouch's Geass ^^


also, I wonder what Itachi meant by mentioning Hashirama's chakra .. that the 10 years can be cut down with it's help ?

Unless you're Danzou/Madara/Kabuto and you have access to the 1st's Chakra through either his 'seed' or someone like Yamato, then yeah, Shisui's eye's power stays dormant for 10 years.

Does this mean Nagatobuto now has enough Eight & Nine Tails chakra? Will he retreat? Will Itachi give his Edo Tensei immortality to lock down Nagatobuto in a fight to the end of time?

well tbh I'd expect that Naruto, Bee & Itachi (possibly - immortal Itachi) can take care of 1 Nagato

although Bee seems useless everytime his chakra gets sucked away T_T and Naruto w/o 9-tails mode or at least sage mode is waaaay below the necessary power level for such a fight - Nagato'll destroy them .. although I don't think he can take all of 9-tails chakra in 1 go + there's still Itachi to help out


but if Madara arrives in the middle of this battle, then ...




P.S. yeah, since he stole 8 & 9-tails chakra that Madara needs - a smart option might be to retreat, use it as a bargaining chip later

I guess Naruto could try the sage mode thingy he did against one of the Paths back in the Pain invasion arc. Where the Preta path absorbed the energy and turned to stone.

Madara is crazy prepared too - probably wouldn't have worked for one reason or another .. noone knows more about Sharingan then Madara

or maybe it was still in cooldown :P



it was likely used at least once after Shisui got it - otherwise how would they know what it does .. and then you wait 10 years .. the massacre itself was ~10 (or 9 ? .. Sasuke was 6 y.o. then, 12 y.o. in P1 and +3 years timeskip) years ago from now, no ? I guess the cooldown ended :P maybe just before Itachi gave Naruto the crow





so glad Sasuke isn't gonna be geassed into loving Konoha ^^ .. too easy a win .. Blood for the Blood God !
