Rikka's mysterious club, the Far East Magical Napping Society of Summer has begun. Kumin joined the Far East Magical Society and though Yuuta had no intention of joining, they were able to hook him after Shinka Nibutani joined. Why would the most popular (and beautiful) girl in the class join such a strange club? Is she interested in black magic? Napping? Don't tell me it's...that? Speculation runs amok throughout Yuuta's head.

After Nibutani is added to the number of contractees, the Far East Magical Society begins searching for the Ethereal Horizon. During the numerous ceremonies they end up performing, Nibutani gets closer to Yuuta! As you imagined, her goal was...!

Nibutani is far too prevalent lately, and it seems like Rikka's going to be, yet again, as in episode 3, a glorified side character throughout this episode, which is depriving the show of the best dynamic, which is Rikka and Yuuta's slowly developing relationship. Instead, this episode seems likely to be filled with Yuuta acting like a love-struck idiot in front of Nibutani for much of the duration. Hopefully, after this episode, Rikka will start to feel like the main character again.

Spoiler for EP4 Preview:

I'm really hoping and expecting that, by the end of the episode, it will be revealed that Nibutani doesn't have romantic feelings for him at all, and is only interested in some ulterior motive, such as retrieving the book. Otherwise, this entire episode will have been a waste, but, thankfully, the previews indicate the very likely possibility that this will only be temporarily played up in order to distract from the real reason she's there.

Looks like we'll get more of Nibutani and Dekomori.

Interesting PV. I did expect we have to wait a couple more episodes before we get more clues about "Mabinogion" and "Mori Summer". It looks like most people are speculating whether Shinka is in it for Yuuta or Mabinogion. I actually want to learn more about what was written in that book. Is it just me or things start getting serious near the end of the PV?

If Shinka wants to distance herself from weeboos joining club is antiproductive. If Shinka is an author of a book why not deny any connection with it same as voice actors deny doing eroge. There should be hard evidence inside the book to sabotage her image of normal teenager, Eastern Magical Nappers start go public with it. It looks like book exists only in one maybe few copies and Shinka never gave book Sanae personally. If she starts to hang out with wierdos won't other people consider her belong to same category? it is still puzzling to me that nobody is making fun of Rikka and her antics.

I like the idea that Nibutani is in it to ship Yuuta x Rikka. She applauded the feeding scene, and had a rapt expression on her face. I'm intrigued by the suggestion that she may mention the Dark Flame and the One-eyed Girl in her book.

I'm curious what we'll see from the Mabinogion and why it's the title of the episode. There's 11 tales in it and it intrigues me if they'll adapt one or more.

If you follow the normal chuuni way of thinking they just pick random foreign words which sounds cool for the heck of it - hence you have Rikka using a lot of Nordic or German names for her "weapons" etc, but since even the Nordic stuff is pretty overused now in anime so if you go one further to make yourself special you'll go for something even more obscure hence Mabinogion. So I'm thinking it really doesn't have any special meaning beyond that and it's just a book of chuuni delusions which needed a foreign and old book name and that's what it become.

Also if all the speculation is correct that Shinka is the author of the Mabinogion and that she's joining the club to get it back (and possibly fighting Dekomori over it) then it's obvious why the episode is titled as such.

From the author's name, most people are able to figure out that Shinka could be the person who wrote it, but not why she want it back. What most people assume is she wants it destroy in order to erase evidence of her chu2byo, however, that may not be the case. There isn't any tangible evidences or even hints which may suggest Shinka being former chu2byo patient or that she dislike associating herself with other chu2byo patients. Perhaps it's not her intention to distance herself from other chu2byo patients. Perhaps she has yet to recover from her chu2byo, but able to hide them well. Perhaps she has some other reasons for retriving her lost legacy. At least, I hope that's the case, but don't expect too much after all this is just romance comedy.

What really throws off my own speculating is that they are insistent on this being a rom-com. As such, whatever "serious issues" there may be, the show will not suddenly grow a beard. Unless KyoAni is pulling off a massive troll here, and do a bait and switch like KimiNozo, but I highly doubt so since the novel readers have not so much as hinted at such "dark developments."

Long story short, I'm not good at predicting comedy.

Sorry for the confusion, but I don't think there is any novel spoiler so far. If there is, it should be specifically stated. Well, most spoiler tags here are speculations regarding purpose behind Shinka joinning the club. Some people may not wish to see those speculations which is why there are spoiler tags.
