Two Guys And A Girl is actually a pretty common setup in anime. It could just be that.

Gonna call it right now. Anime of Spring 2012. Dun care about the fact three big names with its respective fanbases are gonna go wild and declare on each other (Kyoani's Hyou-ka, Typemoon's Fate Zero S2 and Nishio Isin's Medaka Box). This is Shinchiro friggin Watanabe with Yoko Kanno doing the music.

Here comes Beck v2.0 (hopefully with a better budget since that anime looked like ass lol).

Could noitamina be getting get back on track?

To make an analogy, Hyou-Ka is like the latest hit Pop idol, Fate/Zero is like an expensive highly produced stage performance with back up dancers, and Medaka Box is a Rap album with cred and feat. while Sakamichi no Apollon is that quite humble jazz guy sitting in the corner of your local dive rocking the sax whose raw talent far exceeds anything you're seeing in the mainstream, but since he isn't a singer he isn't going to ever really get noticed, but everyone that goes to that little place appreciates him so much nonetheless you can be sure of that much.

"Solid but unspectacular" would be my appraisal of that cast.

I thought she was just singing now.

I'm trusting Watanabe to get the best out of this cast though.

She had a role last year in Hourou Musuko.

Oh damn, so do I. Hosoya Yoshimasa as Sentarou is like a dream come true - that makes two major characters he voices with heavy dialects, after Chihayafuru's Arata - and I've been missing hearing Kimura Ryouhei as much as in the past seasons, call it Penguindrum withdrawal if you wish. Very curious about Nanri Yuuka, she pulled off her role in Hourou Musuko very well but Ritsuko is a vastly different character. Then again, so was Mai-Hime's Nao and she did great back then too.

Yuuka Nanri!! I'm happy I'll get to hear more of her. I loved her so much in Hourou Musuko.

This cast gets my seal of approval as well.

Yesss, I also like a few of those cast member and I totally approved Hosoya as Sentarou since the first time I know they're going to made an anime of this manga(by Watanabe no less), ever since I heard his arata's voice I have this kind of wish to hear him as Sentarou^-^ And there's Kimura Ryouhei, Nanri Yuuka, Suwabe Junichi, Endou Aya & Nobuhiko Okamoto to boots, great!!

I think I should amend my "solid but unspectacular" statement by clarifying what I mean - this is not a cast full of "personalities". These are just good seiyuu that disappear into the role, rather than "star quality" seiyuu who play pretty much every role as a version of themselves.

I really hope that Crunchyroll simulcasts this series. This is one of the series that I really want to watch for Spring.

Hopefully this series will restore NoitaminA's reputation as well. I am sure that with Yoko Kanno on board and music being the focus of this, the music will be great.

We won't have to to wait long for a soundtrack release. April 25th!

This pleases me greatly.

The OP will be sung by YUKI: its title is "Sakamichi no Melody" and it'll be produced by Kanno Youko. YUKI hasn't had an anime tie-up since... HachiKuro. \o/

Source.

The anime is also confirmed to start on April 12, the same day as Tsuritama. If it wasn't already obvious, Apollon is taking over the 24:45 slot (the Fuji Creative one), while Tsuritama has 25:15 covered (Aniplex).

This wasn't posted here yet?

"Director Watanabe commented, "Actually this is the first time I'm doing an adaptation. When I read the manga, I thought, 'This is something I should do.' I'm making it with the feeling of having jam sessions with Kodama-sensei and leveraging the distinct flavor of the manga."

Yoko Kanno had this to say: "In youth, jazz. This is the work I had been waiting for the most"

Source: Crunchyroll.

I bought a couple of YUKI's albums off the back of the themes she did for Honey and Clover, so the idea she's doing another Noitamina show's theme song is music to my ears.

It seems this series is going to be 12 episodes long and will cover the entire 9 volume manga. The pacing is going to be.... interesting.
