Not just you, I also vastly preferred Ryoko over Erina or especially Megumi(one doesn't show up much and another is just a annoying moeblob). She get the beautiful silky long black hair, ideal personality and the perfect look, I always got a thing for mature going girl with long black silky hair.

Oh!!! Brother in arms, good taste ya got there! Unfortunatly, Japan goes for the tsundere type in this generation. (That's just my opinion) Always see tsundere as main love interest I WANT TO SEE A MATURE GIRL FOR ONCE!! If someone here can just share a manga or anime where the main love interest is a Yamato nadeshiko, please do it! Then i can die in peace!!! (Gundam seed doesn't count)

In term of look yes(long black-ish color silky hair and preferably the eye be the same color too) but not their personality(obedience and too cultural).

You also make it sound is a strange move for a author to keep the female lead on the sidelines until the time comes. Not at all, it's actually a smart move, because the longer it takes the more important said character's development becomes in the end.

The strange move is the same side-character keep getting more and more screentime than other female characters. For example, the duck girl and Ryoko, minus Erina.

In fact, if Megumi lost in the preliminarily, none of us will get angry about it, but she won and move to bigger stage.

You know, I'd hate to see Megumi lose... but the fact is that given who she's up against, that winning is gonna be somewhat farfetched unless they can give a good explanation for it.

Still, I can accept Megumi losing due to the fact that the Election is actually a rather low-stakes endeavor. Compared to getting expelled from the training camp, losing the Autumn Elections doesn't mean you lose everything, you just lose a shot to the top. The only one whose entire story is at stake in the Autumn Elections is Soma himself.

Whether Megumi wins or loses though, I'd like to see her give Kurokiba pause in doing so, and shut up all her detractors through her Tohoku Hopping Hare spirit!

Again, Megumi hijacked and stole the chapter that supposedly to be Mad Dog chapter. Megumi is indirectly declared a war with Mad Dog.
