According to my friend, there's a folder in haruhi.tv called 'mikuru'---www.haruhi.tv/mikuru
Only one picture can be found---www.haruhi.tv/mikuru/mikuru01.gif

I bet there's always something new in their website after each episode.

How come Asakura has so much more emotion than Nagato even though they're both from the same origin? Even in episode 2 Asakura seems so much more human than Nagato, talking about how the class should be united and all.

^ One simple explanation ->

Yuki: A class model
Asakura: B class model -> Easily gathers junk data (emotions)

Although that's just my speculation, I haven't read the novels or anything

My thoughts were that Nagato was made to observe Haruhi while Asakura was made to interact with her. And I don't think that those were really emotions. It was her acting in a way that made her appear normal.

^ Well, she failed to interact with Haruhi anyway. Clearly one defective model

Japanese fans discovered a secret in Asakura's "spell".
Playback it reversely and slowly, you can listen the hidden words.

I just tried to reverse the sound then slow it down, and it appears that Asakura did say the above!

Spoiler for spoiler:

However, the Yuki one (at least the one in this episode) is apparently gibberish. I tried reversing it then slowing it down but it still doesn't sound like a sentence (to me at least).

^ Or Yuki's spell is encrypted, as befits a better model

It's the wrond day for me to stress my brain, but I guess we would have to wonder about the relation between data, energy, and reality. If the Data Entity is collected data floating in the universe, there must be a source, which could either be a life form, or simply energy/properties of energy. How much data can be found in a photon, and what does it mean, etc? That seems like the kind of stuff the Data Entity relates to; highly general data about the universe, how it works, and how to manipulate it order to stimulate changes in reality.

A physics prof. asked a class, "what color is an electron?" I'm not sure.
Things I'm sure of though:
Mikuru's birthmark,
Yuki without glasses,
Kyon getting round housed by Yuki,
Haruhi talking about her body's urges...

these things are good.

I actually tried to post this the other day, but the forum wasn't working. Soon time for next ep.

Very interesting. I suck though, so I really can't grasp anything of what I'm hearing. Just sounds like words said in reverse. Bah, I gotta work on my Japanese listening comprehension.

Wow, that's a great find. And Yuki is definitely saying something too, if you filter out the background noise:

Is it just me...

Or are they trying to draw a pararellism with Yuki's "desert field" as seen in this episode after the battle with Asakura, and the battle with the cave cricket, with Fate/Stay Night's concept of Reality Marbles? Representation of inner reality and all.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into a supposed pararellism betwen the concepts of it all. -____-

There's no such thing as evil when it comes to The Integrated Data Entity. Asakura just opted for a different approach about Haruhi. Using Kyon is, in fact, a really good idea.
To The Integrated Data Entity human life means nothing. Yuki's not an exception; had she been ordered to kill Kyon, she would had done it without hesitation.

Of course, This changes when Yuki developes emotions.

Finally got to see this episode. I'll never know how much the extra week effected my rating, but it just didn't seem to impress me as much as the relevent chapters of the novel. Still a solid 8. I regret I haven't read through the thread, thus missing some insightes others may have, but I've got a lot of anime to catch up on.

edit: I'm sure few will see this being so long after the fact, but I got around to rewatcing this episode today, and I'm revising my rating to a 9. I suspect the extra week of waiting did effect my opinion somewhat, along with the rush to catch up on anime I missed while I was away.

Too bad I can't actually change my vote...

Quite the contrary, I certainly am a Yuki fan. I'm just a rather harsh critic.
