Hi,

I have a query about Fate/hollow ataraxia actually.

Why does Archer appears in it? Didn't his contract break with Rin already

It's a closed world that has every type of possibility open for the characters. That is why Rider is there, saber is there, Caster is there, all the Servants except True Assassin are there. And because Kotomine is fated to die, he isn't there. The world loops the same 4 days until a special event happens.

It's fair enough to say Kotomine is fated to die, but.. There's no route in which Caster survives. Yet she appears anyway.

Well fated to die moreso meaning his black heart was expiring anyway, no matter what happened, rather than what happened to him in each route.

Caster is a servant, Kotomine is not.

Playing halfway into fate/hollow ataraxia, I'm beginning to understand a little bit.

They used an amalgation of all the different routes to develop this untrue but official sequel.

Here's a question. How much information is given out concerning Arthurian Legends in Hollow Ataraxia and Zero? Anything about the events that would date back from Saber's own time. I am looking for some kind of portrait given about "King Arthur" from Type/Moon's work.

Spoiler for Saber in fate/hollow ataraxia:

At 50% completion of fate/hollow ataraxia, nothing has been leaked out on Saber's past and the Arthurian legends.

So far, the only time she has mentioned is that the coast of Fuyuki City is much more serene than her homeland. But nevertheless she misses her homeland.

Shirou mentions that he would want her to see her homeland again someday.

Other than that, Saber's parts are just about funny side stories and her swimming pool incident with Shirou. But so far, the swimming pool incident is the cutest I've ever seen for Shirou X Saber relationships.

Excellent. appreciate the help, please keep me posted if there is ever anything. I know the Wiki article gives out much more than I remember in Stay Night but I'm figuring they just took parts of common Arthurian legends.

Does the video of Shirou & Archer fighting in the latter's UBW belong to the visual novel or does it exist in the anime only?

Are you referring to the second opening? As far as Fate/stay night goes, they don't ever fight in either of their reality marbles.

Spoiler for Fate/stay night VN:

UBW is the only route where Shirou uses his reality marble, and he isn't able to use it until he fights Gilgamesh, if I remember correctly. He never sees it in Fate and, although he gets Archer's arm, he isn't able to use the reality marble according to the Dark Berserker fight scene.

I have my own question.

At the Dark Berserker fight scene, Shirou states that he isn't able to use UBW because, according to mirrormoon's translation,

Reality Marble, "Unlimited Blade Works", isn't usable.
Archer's world and mine are different. I can't reproduce it.

I assumed that their worlds were different because Shirou chose Sakura over everyone else, and thus revoked his ideals. If this is true, why does Rin say in the HF true epilogue that he can use his reality marble again if he has training?

Because he'll be using his reality marble as opposed to Archers. The events of HF were enough to reveal that Shirou was Archer and once he learned about Archer's Reality Marble, his own is just a step away. And actually, none of the Shirou's could use Archer's version of UBW because he viewed his ideal differently as reflected by the gears in the background.

That does make me wonder though, if simply believing the ideal is beautiful and whatnot changed the spell to Unlimited Blade Works so much for the UBW Shirou, what would the spell be like for HF Shirou with his vastly different ideal?

I was referring to the characters in the route itself. I don't think you can get more obvious than in UBW, but they do the same thing in HF using Ilya and the pendant.

Not really. Unless you count the end of Fate with Bedivere, but it's a really small appearance that doesn't really impact the story.

So I guess that scene of both of them fighting was just a scene for fanservice?

Heard that they planned the anime to be based on Unlimited Blade Works but something happened and they decided to follow Fate route instead.

I heard that the director was going to try to mesh the three routes together or something similar to that.
