Wow, a Sumire thread. Despite not being a main character, I've always identified most closely with her since there are parallels between us.

Kano's development wasn't shown much if at all during the first 12 episodes, and everything just suddenly burst open during Ep16. I would have wished for more hints towards her not-so Miss Perfect side, but maybe that was intended so viewers don't know too much.

Well, she's the Council Prez after all and supposed to be the iron lady of the school. There were hints actually, from the way she behaves when Kitamura was around her, like a sense of longing for something she knows she cannot get.

We may see Sumire in the epilog credits many anime series like to have (what are they doing now? moments). I'd love to see a bit as the final credits roll where she's either receiving a letter or a visit from Kitamura; or even just climbing out the underwater simulation training pool

-- though it often seems a running thread in much of anime that separation ends a relationship for good. I've no idea why..... its like there's a cultural imperative to pick/stick with a mate who is in daily reach....

I'd be rather surprised if she figures in any of the remaining story content within the series much as I like her.

Aye... it seems like Kihara (and perhaps the idiotx2 team Haruta+Noto) were more important than originally thought when laying out the subforum. I'll probably discuss Kihara in Kitamura's thread though....

After watching the fight in the most recent episode of Toradora, I went back and rewatched episode 16 again. In doing so I noticed something I had previously missed before. That is, where Sumire ends up. The address on the card that Taiga mails to her reads

Kanou Sumire
67 Massachusets Ave
Cambridge, MA 02139

It turns out shes living at MIT. Just thought that was a rather amusing little footnote.
