Actually this one was a short snippet I wrote a long while ago, but only now did I manage to finish it. This one ties in to this particular chapter of ghazgkhull's Riot Force 6, leading into one of the conversations in that piece. The circumstances regarding the events described here are written in a previous chapter.

Colwell Heavy Industries Factory District
Ferio Valley, 20 Kilometers southeast of Cranagan City
Midchilda
11:20 Hours

140 years ago, the Colwell family business operated off a small warehouse inside Cranagan City, a mere retailer for the other major heavy equipment manufacturers at the time. As the Colwell business expanded and grew, eventually monopolizing the heavy equipment industry in Midchilda, the demand for their products and services eventually outstripped their ability to supply them. Even as they constructed and created expansion factories in other parts of the city, it was clear that the Colwells required a lot more space than the already cramped city would offer.

The Ferio Valley to the southeast of Cranagan proved to be the ideal location on which to support Colwell’s new ambitions. This lush green forest by the foot of the Ferris mountain range was a perfectly level geographic expanse, right beside the largest ore deposits found in the continent; This meant not only an abundance of space to erect massive factory buildings, but also an easily accessible source of raw materials – and 75 years ago, the Colwells were the first to stake their claim on the land and its riches.

Today, Colwell’s “Factory District” is a flourishing city in and of itself, the southernmost edge of what is known as the Cranagan Central Urbanation. Covering an expanse of 10,700 acres, the “District” as it is better known is a city built entirely from the ground up by the wealth and might of the Colwell family fortune, and 90 percent of the infrastructure from the roads to the business offices are Colwell made, and is home to almost 100,000 people, approximately 40,000 of which are Colwell employees and workers. Amidst the non-stop emergence of new high-rise skyscrapers, condominiums and business offices, the heart is still the Ferio Main Factory building which lies at the northern edge of the city; consuming nearly 120 acres of land, this 30-storey tall facility is the largest building by volume in the whole of Midchilda, beating out even the TSAB Central Headquarters in Cranagan City. This gargantuan building houses a majority of the vehicle and hardware manufacturing facilities for Colwell Industries, producing everything from hand-held power tools to massive 200-ton tunnel boring machines. It is also the oldest of the buildings in the city, being the first factory to be completed 70 years ago, and has since been expanded bit by bit until it reached its current awesome mass.

Asagi Colwell was well aware of these epic numbers, a subject she had been thinking over as she paced back and forth alone on the massive helipad on the roof of the Ferio Factory Building. Afterall, she was the sole heir to all 10,700 acres of real estate in this city, and as a matter of fact all this was virtually hers by authority, though not on paper. The entire financial, corporate and physical might of the Colwell family legacy was at her disposal, and there were very few things that a Colwell family member could not instantly accomplish with their fortune.

“Aaargh!!!!! Damnit damnit damnit damnit damnit!”

Like erasing the seemingly insidious frustration that Asagi seemed to be scratching her head over with desperation, her words seemingly going on ad infinitum.

“I KNOW IT’S THE TRUTH, BUT I DIDN’T WISH FOR ALL THIS!!!”

Yelling at the top of her lungs was a common thing for her, though this time it carried a rather irritated air with it.

“Never thought I’d finally hear those words from you…” Another female voice quipped. “‘Senpai.’”

“Ah, Mayu!”

Mayura casually leaned back by the metal guard railings, her lustrous long, blond hair shining elegantly as it swayed with the gentle breeze, accented by her fair unblemished skin adorned by a most charming smile – a stunning entrance, despite the fact that Mayura was wearing only an unflattering plain white training gi, loose, creased and quite dirty in a lot of places. Asagi couldn’t help but relax somewhat – Mayura always did leave people in awe when they first see her, no matter what she wore or look like.

“Was it that obvious?” Asagi asked in jest, her mood a bit lighter than a few moments ago.

Still smiling, Mayura let out a small chuckle. “Asagi, you’re never subtle. But it helps that you left your aide Ms. Keine as the virtual president of the entire corporation.”

“She’s happy for the work, and she handles the board better than I do!” Asagi snickered.

“If their boss was as generous in giving power as you they really would be. On the other hand you weren’t so happy yourself a while ago.”

Asagi leaned forward on the rails to Mayura’s right, crossing her arms as her elbows rested on the warm metal, looking out towards the hustle and bustle of the cityscape beyond. The frustration was gone from her face, though from her distant eyes it was clear that the thoughts she dwelled on was still present. She sighed.

“Have you ever felt like money was more trouble than it’s worth Mayu?” Asagi started, closing her eyes and letting the wind rustle her red curvy hair. “Like you don’t want to have all this wealth and fortune?”

“Sometimes.” Mayura replied wistfully. “My brothers and I may have struggled for money before Father adopted us into the family, but I had fun with all the days I had with them. Nowadays, I hardly even see my brothers anymore, they’re busy with succeeding Father’s legacy. I do wish that we could go back to those days when all we had was the dojo and the three of us…”

It was Mayura’s turn to sigh now, but maintained her cheerful air afterwards. “But you know Asagi, it’s never bad to have this much money if you know what to do with it. And I’m grateful for all the opportunities that Father’s wealth has opened up for me and my brothers…”

She then turned to Asagi. “… like getting to help you now by asking why you seem so angry about it.”

“I’M NOT ANGRY, I’M LOUD!” Asagi yelled, and then recoiled as she realized whom she was talking to. “I’m-“

“Don’t say it, I already know.” Mayura said assuringly – verbal apologies held little weight for her anyway, not by itself. And she didn’t have to guess that her friend was genuinely regretful for what she did, as trivial as it was, thus there was no need to prod that particular matter further.

“It’s just frustrating that’s all… “, Asagi replied, her words trailing as the volume of her voice receded. “Having this much money never felt this insulting before.”

It was a rare sight that greeted Mayura’s eyes as she looked at Asagi’s forlorn face – the face of their ever-loud and ever-confident leader becoming this weary over whatever matter was bothering her this very moment. Not even matters of grave consequence to the company could get her this despondent; No, there were only a couple of things that can ever get Asagi riled up like that, and Mayura only needed to deduce which one…

“To think that our Patron Goddess of Infinite Forgiveness could snap like that… enough to slap someone I wonder?” Mayura asked distantly as if to an invisible speaker, even though it was obviously directed at her companion.

“I didn’t mean to.” Asagi replied as she sighed again, still melancholic. “But I don’t like to think we’re different because I’m rich and he’s not-so-rich, and I don’t like it when people make that distinction with me just because of my wealth. And I thought he was different... but then he suddenly became bothered by it enough to be unable to speak to me!”

“Only because you’ve never acted like someone with status before last night.” Mayura inferred. “I never cease to be amazed at your transformation from our loud gung-ho BelkaRed to demure and regal Princess Colwell. Imagine what he, uninitiated in your ways, would’ve thought when he saw you like that... “ she paused, her lips slowly forming into a sly grin and a finger on it. “... so elegant, so poised... so lusciously sexy...”

“MAYU!!”

“Your fault for dressing up in the most bombastically appealing outfit you had.” Mayura chided playfully before she turned to a flustered Asagi. “But seriously, it’s human nature to distinguish the princes from the paupers, the haves from the have-nots, try as you’d like to promote equality between them. And it’s especially difficult for someone like you, the sole heir to one of the wealthiest and most successful corporations in Ordered Space. You may have Ms. Keine run the entire corporation most of the time, but you still have to carry the massive responsibilities that come with being born into a family of power, responsibility that can affect the lives of the millions of employees working here. In that respect, you’re already different from the rest of us. It’s only natural for him to see you as the unreachable princess.”

“But I’m more than just the corporation and my money!” Asagi retorted as she faced Mayura, sounding strangely desperate.

“You are.” Mayura stated matter-of-factly. “But as it stands, both the corporation and the money are aspects that can’t be separated from you unless by the Kaiser’s divine wrath. Trying to deny that is pointless and ultimately futile.” She now turned to lean forward on the rails in imitation of her companion, looking out towards the cityscape.

“Fact is that you made quite an impression on him last night, and I don’t blame him. I could’ve gone lesbian for you.”

“Ryotaro would’ve objected to that.” Asagi’s tongue-in-cheek retort got a smug grin from Mayura.

“He’d love the sight of two lovely ladies making out.”

Asagi’s expression of abject horror was one memory Mayura would cherish for the rest of her days, only topped by the former’s pouting face afterwards. Mayura couldn’t hold the childish giggle that broke out, and soon even Asagi joined in the lighthearted mirth. When the laughter finally subsided, Mayura’s stern eyes locked into Asagi’s now softer own.

“The answer is simple really. Just impress this side of you more on him. The laughing Asagi, the pouting Asagi, the hot-blooded Asagi, our ever loud Belkared, the one he’s known all this time. Acknowledge the differences between you two, but never make a big deal out of it. He’ll get comfortable with you in time, I can guarantee that.”

Mayura’s words carried a finality that Asagi couldn’t argue with, though whatever words the redhead was about to say were lost as they heard the whirring of helicopter blades landing behind them. Asagi briefly wondered at how silent their new corporate helicopters were, before straightening herself up and hugging her friend, who returned it in kind.

“Mayu, I’ll tell you how it goes alright?”

“Good luck.”

And so as she hopped unto the helicopter, Asagi’s mind went to work. She was gonna have words with that Hayato later.

A beep off her comm unit distracted her thoughts momentarily. Riot Force 6? Guess she was going to have to contact them eventually, seeing as how she was already headed there. The comm screen opened just as the helicopter's door closed, completely muffling the sounds outside.

“Hello, Colwell Heavy Industries, Asagi speaking...”

Anyway, here's another piece of Chapter 25 (OC Index)

Spoiler for Chapter 25 - Second Date - Part 3:

Koji and Maren are currently on a date instigated by Hayate because he wouldn't take action to advance in their relationship.
Using the date schedule provided, the couple set out to the city. But knowing Hayate, there was a fair chance that she could be plotting something, so Koji improvised...

[Cranagan, 5th Avenue]
[Bowling Alley]

As Maren follows Koji into the building, she is greeted by an unusual sound. It was hard to describe, but sounded like an impact of sorts. Koji wasn't surprised so she figured it was normal in this place.

Renting gear, they change shoes and walk up their designated lane. Maren notices ten pins gathered at the end of the lane, and begins to understand this game's purpose.

Koji went first to show Maren how to play.

"You grab the ball like this," He showed her as he held the ball, positioned himself to throw it, "--and then roll it down the lane."
Rolling along, the ball knocks all but three pins. "Haha...I'm a little rusty."

The bowling ball returns on a sort of conveyor belt and Koji throws it again, knocking the remaining pins.

Maren claps at Koji's performance, "Amazing!" she adds.

Koji walks up to her. "Now it's Maren's turn."

"Y-Yes! I'll do my best!" Holding the ball, she stood and walked to the lane. Holding the bowling ball like Koji showed, "Ei!" she imitated his throwing movement. The ball rolled along, but tipped to the side and entered the gutter without hitting a pin.

"It's harder than it looks."

"Yeah, at first it's tricky to get the hang of it." Koji walked up to her, "Here, try throwing it like this..." He got behind Maren, holding her waist.

"Ah--Y-yes" With her cheeks dyed pink, Maren smiled.


Meanwhile, several lanes away from them were Yui, Rein and Scarlet.

"T-T-Too close! They're too close to eachother!" Yui complains.

"S-Such a position...I'm so jea--I mean, it's immoral ~desu!" Rein adds.

"My my~ Teaching her how to play by holding her...ufufu~" Scarlet giggles.

"Why are you still here?" Yui glared at the strange woman.

"Because it's amusing~" She smirked.

"G--gh--gghhh--" Yui grabbed a nearby bowling ball that began to freeze up, and threw it nonchalantly at the pins, knocking them all while releasing a cold wind in the process.

"Y-Yui..." Rein sweatdropped. "We're not supposed to use magic here."

"Ah--" Yui realized what she did...but it was already too late, not only was the bowling alley's clerk staring at them, but also the rest of the customers. "A--ahahaha..." She forced a smile and laughed.


Back to the dating couple...

"That just now..." Maren looked at the commotion some lanes away.

(That just now was Yui...so we're being followed...) Koji sighed on the inside, "I-It seems someone got carried away. Hahaha...people should remember that they shouldn't use magic here."

"Should we check it out?"

"N-No! I mean, it's okay, there's no signs of hostility," He paused, (Just jealousy...), "It was probably an accident."

"It seems you're right...there's no tension in the air, or signs of magic activation." Maren relaxes, lowering her guard.

Relieved, Koji grabbed Maren's hand, "Are you hungry? How about we go grab something to eat?"

"Eh? I don't mind, but the game?"

"Don't worry, we'll come back some other time. Let's go!"

Koji thought it was best to seize the opportunity and change location...and maybe lose their pursuers too.

So they left the bowling alley in a hurry, though Maren was surprised at the quickened pace they were going, she was also happy at seeing Koji's assertive attitude during the date.

Continuing their date, Koji and Maren walked the streets until they noticed something up ahead. The pleasant scent of food and a line of people waiting for their turn.

"Oh, a Crepe shop! It's been a while~ I didn't know they had these in Mid-Childa."

"Crepe?" Maren blinked curiously.

"Did you ever eat one?" Koji asked, a hint of enthusiasm could be seen on his face.

Maren had a vague idea of something with that name being mentioned in conversations when she worked at TSAB's Ground Forces HQ, and even in the Main HQ, but she had no idea of what it looked like. So, she shook her head, "No."

"Then let's go!" He grabbed her hand and walked toward the shop.

Getting in line, Maren then noticed that the people in line are all couples, "By the way, is this also what l-lovers do?" She blushed while twiddling with the ribbons of her dress.

"Eh? Ah--yeah... Back home, in Uminari, I usually saw couples doing this...I guess the same applies here."

"Have you done this before?" She asks.

Koji nods, "Every once in a while Yui'd ask me to go with her. But it's the first time I come to a crepe shop in Mid-Childa."

"I see." Maren smiled, "So it's our first time together~" She holds onto his arm.

Once more, Koji was surprised at Maren's sweetened demeanor, it's been happening a lot lately. She drops her wise and professional persona and acts like a normal girl. He's happy to see her reveal such sides of herself...so he decided to do his best and make this date a successful one, and that meant staying one step ahead of their 'stalkers'...and being who they are, it's a difficult task.

A couple had just left with their crepes, Koji and Maren stood in front of the shop's counter.


"What flavor do you want?" Koji asked.

"Flavor?"

"Yeah, you can fill the crepe with a combination of what's on the list." He pointed out.

There were sliced fruits, sweet toppings, syrup, jam, ice cream...there was a lot to choose from.

Maren didn't know what to choose from such a large variety of delicious goods.

Seeing her make such a troubled expression, Koji cut in, "Whipped cream, banana and chocolate crepe and one whipped cream and strawberry, please."

"Yes." Nodding once, the employee started making the ordered crepes.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know what to choose..."

"It's okay, everyone's like that their first time." Koji smiled.

"Your crepes." The employee handed over the delicious crepes.

Koji took them both, "Here, this one is for Maren." He gave her the strawberry crepe.

"T-thank you." She accepted the crepe.


Clearing the path for the customers behind them, the two started walking while Maren curiously examined the food in her hands.

It was composed of a type of very thin pancake that serves as vessel for the whipped cream and slices of strawberry. Still warm, and to avoid dirtying the hands, a sort of pink napkin decorated with white lines was wrapped around the crepe's base.

Maren looked at Koji, who still hadn't touched his crepe. He smiled at her, then took a bite from the corner of his own crepe to show how to eat it.

Staring down at hers, Maren carefully brought it to her lips and tasted it.

The combination of flavors was...simply amazing. The wondrous taste spread through her mouth in a wave of sweetness...that even her fox traits appeared, namely her ears and tails.

Though surprised, Koji found Maren's reaction quite adorable, "Is it good?" he asked already knowing the answer.

"Yes!" She nodded cheerfully. "I have never tasted anything like this."

"I see, I'm happy to hear that." He brought the banana and chocolate crepe between them. "Want to try mine?"

"Can I?" Maren looked at Koji.

"Of course." He smiled.

With reddened cheeks, Maren opened her mouth. And took a bite out of Koji's crepe.

"How is it?" He asked.

"It's also delicious." She carefully licked her lips.

"It is, isn't it?" He grinned.

Then, Maren shyly brought her crepe up to Koji, "T-then...w-would you like to taste mine?"

Koji looked at her flushed face. "Ah...s-sure." He replied before leaning over and biting on her crepe.

"H-How is it?" Maren asked.

"I-It's good." He replied with some embarrassment.

Hearing his reply, Maren giggled softly and continued to eat.

(T-this was really embarrassing!) Koji thought, after what has happened.

Having finished their crepes, Koji and Maren continued their date on the streets of Cranagan.

"Where should we go next?" Koji looks around, noticing the entrance of a shopping district. "Maren,

is there something you need?"

"Eh?" She blinks, "Something I need?" She gave it some thought.

"Well, even if there isn't, let's take a look." Once more, Koji grabs her hand and rushes into the

lively street.


The first thing they saw while entering the shopping district, were the colorful signs of the

various shops. The place looked like it continued forever as the people were coming and going.

Holding hands, the couple walked along the windows, checking what was on display.

"There's so many lovely things here." Maren looked at some accessories.

"Yeah." Koji looked as well...and a certain ring caught his attention. Golden with a red gemstone

set on a crown, adorned with wings around it.

"Ah, that ring is beautiful." Maren noticed the ring.

"Hm? Oh, that one. It sure is." He pretended not to have seen it.

She stared at the ring with a slight frown. Koji understood it right away.

"Do you want it?" He asked.

"Eh? Ah, no. It's okay." She stepped away from the window, "There's no point in me wearing such a

pretty ring."

"I'll buy it. It'll definitely look good on you." He tried to convince her.

"No...Your feelings alone are enough for me." She smiled, holding on to his arm. "Let's continue,

there are other shops to see."

"Okay." Though somewhat disappointed, Koji forced a smile and walked with her.


So, they continued looking at the variety of goods being sold at the many shops.

"No matter which world you go to, there's always a place like this in large cities." Maren comments.

"Yea, it's the same back in Uminari, though it's not as big as Cranagan. But it's a nice place, with

kind people."

Hearing him speak of his hometown again, she felt awkward.

After a second of silence, Maren speaks, "Do you...miss your homeworld? Your parents?"

"Huh?" Koji let out in surprise.

"You had to move to Mid-Childa because of your magical abilities, right? I heard that on Earth, the

number of people that can use magic is extremely low, so the TSAB took custody--"

"What are you talking about? I visited my parents this summer."

"Eh? But, didn't your world--"

"It's true that magic in my world is so rare that it is thought to be a fairy tale, but I joined the

TSAB on my own accord."

"A-" Maren blushed when she realized her mistake, "I'm sorry, I thought that--"

"I heard something like that from Fate. That there are 'special cases' that require the TSAB's

intervention, but I wasn't one of those." He smiles, "I had reliable people looking after me."

"I see." She paused, "It must be nice to have a place to return to. I'm only a passerby..."

"Maren..." Koji poked her on the forehead, "You have one too. Place to return."

"Riot Force 6 is only temporary, besides, it'll be disbanded next year."

"That's not it. The people."

"Eh?"

"Nanoha, Fate, Hayate and everyone else. The people who care about us, they're the 'place to return

to'." He looked away while scratching his nose, "These are the wise words of a certain person."

Maren's eyes widened. "...People to return to..."

Koji nodded, "Yeah. And if ever want go somewhere, you can always come with us to Earth and stay at

my home. I'll introduce you to my parents."

"E-EH?" Maren turned red, "T-That means--"

"FOUND YOU!!!" someone suddenly screams behind them.

Turning around, the couple sees a pink-haired girl with round sunglasses, sweating and gasping for

air from all the running.

"Y-Yui-san?!" Maren said surprised.

Rein grabs Yui's arm, "Yui! We were supposed to follow them secretly! ~desu"

"Ah--" Yui realizes what she just did. "I forgot about it!" She brings her hands to her head.

"My my, for someone with ice affinity, you were pretty fired up." A third person speaks before

revealing herself.

An older woman with long, scarlet hair, crimson eyes and wearing an unusual attire.

"O-Onee-sama?!" Once more, Maren was surprised.

"Eh?" Koji, Yui and Rein let out as they heard her, "EEEEHHH?!"

[Cafe near the Shopping District]

With the date interrupted by a jealous Yui and the revelation that the strange woman following them being Maren's older sister, the group moved to a nearby cafe to talk.

They sat at a secluded corner of the shop, soon enough a waitress came to take their orders.

"Three of your famous parfait." Scarlet paused, "And you two?" She looked at Koji and Maren.

"Coffee. Black."

"The same for me."

"Very well, please wait a moment." The waitress bowed and headed to the counter.

"You're not eating anyting?" Yui asked.

"They just ate crepes...one was strawberry with whipped cream and banana with chocolate, right?" Scarlet smirked at the couple.

"H-How did---"

Not letting Koji finish, Scarlet tapped her nose. "We have good a nose...I can even tell that you two shared each other's crepe~" She smirked teasingly.

"Wha--Onii-chan!" Yui glared at Koji, Rein soon followed Yui's example.

Koji sweatdropped, "There's nothing wrong with it...and we were on a date."

Scarlet giggled, "That's true. For lovers it's a common thing to do. Right?" She turned to Maren.

"P-Please stop teasing us." Maren spoke shyly.

That moment, the waitress came with their orders, setting each parfait in front of Scarlet, Yui and Rein, then the coffee for Maren and Koji.

"According to my 'sources', this cafe's parfait is one of the best in Cranagan." Scarlet commented.

"Is it really okay for us to eat?" Yui asked Scarlet, Rein looking as well.

"Sure, go ahead, it's on me~" She winked.

"Well then..." Each took a long spoon, "Itadakimasu!" the girls said together.

"Mmm~!" Yui and Rein let out, "Delicious!" and continued eating.


Maren took her cup of coffee, took a sip and spoke, "Anyway, what brings you to Mid-Childa?"

"Hmm? Can't I check on how my adorable little sister is doing?" She smirked.

"You say that but you're probably here for the 'delicacies', aren't you?"

"Ahaha...Can't deny that." She laughed before scooping some of the parfait and eating it.

"So, what's the other reason to be here? You didn't get in trouble like that other time, did you?" Maren frowned.

"Eh?! No! Nonono! That was a one time thing! I told you I wouldn't get into that kind of trouble ever again." The older sister waved her hands to assure.

"'That kind'? So you're still getting into trouble."

"Ahahaha..." Scarlet sweatdropped, "It can't be helped. Besides, it's only once in a while."

Maren sighed, "Honestly...you should be more responsible."

Meanwhile, the other three at the table could only watch and think, (Which one is the actual older sister?)

"P-Putting that aside." Scarlet changed the subject, "It's good to see you happy. Last time we met, you were--"

"I know." Maren interrupts her, "Those days now seem like a bad dream."

"I see." Scarlet smiles, then looks at Koji, "I guess I have you to thank for~" She winks at him.

"Eh?" Koji blinks. "Aa--Well, I guess." He scratched his cheek.

"So, how far have you two gone?" She grins.

Not expecting that question, Koji chokes on the coffee he was drinking, "*cough**cough* E-Excuse me?!"

The girls too were surprised. "S-S-Scarlet-san?" was all Yui could say.

"Ufufu~ Well?"

Reading their movements and reaction, the older sister quickly figured out the truth.

"Eh? Just kissing?" Scarlet sighs, "Even though you sleep together?"

"H-H-How--"

"Experience and," Scarlet taps her nose again, "Though, I knew it the moment I got close enough." She smirks.

"W-What do you mean?" Koji asks.

Scarlet smirked, "My cuuute little sister's scent is all over you, and I mean a LOT. She must cling onto you while you sleep~"

Unable to reply, the couple blushed.

"Mumumuuu~" Yui and Rein pouted, and chug down the rest of their parfaits.

"My my," Scarlet chuckled, "it seems your little sisters are upset~"

(You're doing it on purpose just to see how we react...) Koji thought.

"Onee-sama...if you're here just to tease us, then it'd be best--"

Scarlet switched to a serious face. "--Unfortunately, I'm not."

"!!" Everyone was surprised at her sudden shift of mood.

She sighs, "I didn't want to darken the mood, so I was waiting...Oh, well--"

Scarlet performs a few quick movements with her left hand and an unknown magic circle appears for a second.

"It should be fine now." She speaks.

"What did you do?" Koji asks.

"Just a little something to prevent eavesdroppers of listening." She winked.

"Going to such lenghts...that serious?" Maren looks at her sister.

Scarlet nods slowly, "I've been doing some investigating..." but pauses, "...is it okay for them to hear?" She asked Maren.

Maren expression shifted to a worried one, but looked at Koji, then at her sister, and nodded.

"Okay then...With you included, there's only three Crestbearers left. All the others are dead."

Maren's eyes widened, cold sweat quickly ran down her body. "T-Three? Only three?"

"Technically two, because one is the Enlightened."

"A-Are you sure?"

"I've seen it with my own eyes, remains of the villages...It's not a pretty sight." Scarlet frowned at the memories.

"Wait a minute! What are you talking about?! Crestbearers? Enlightened?" Koji asked, not quite understanding.

Scarlet looked at Koji and the girls beside her and raised an eyebrow, "Oi..." Then looks at her sister, "What did you tell them? It looks like they don't know."

Maren lowers her head, "...Bits and pieces." She spoke as if ashamed.

"Maren?" Worried, Koji looks at her.

"You three, what do you know of her past? Of us?" She asks.

"Hmm~" Rein thinks for a second, "She's a fox, has lived long and is very powerful--"
"But sealed her own powers." Yui adds.

"So just the summarized version--" Scarlet paused, "Wait, sealed? You sealed your powers?"

Maren nods.

"I see...that was probably the best choice. But--" She turns to Koji, "You're sharing it with him, aren't you?"

"You can tell?" Koji blinks.

"Somewhat. Her magic is mixed with yours so it's hard to distinguish them." She frowned, "But to contract with a human...How long since then?"

"A little over a month." Koji replies. "Took me a while to get used to it, though."

"...And no problems, huh?" Scarlet ponders, "Interesting."

"Ah, Maren-chan also mentioned an evil monster that's after her." Yui remembers.

"So you did speak of it to them." Scarlet turns to Maren.

"I only mentioned it a little..." Maren looks away.

"Scarlet-san, tell us! What is that thing?" Koji asks in a serious tone.

"It's a long, dark story, are sure you want to hear it?"

"Of course! I've made my mind a long time ago! Ever since I decided to protect Maren!" He replies.

"Koji-sama..." Maren looked up at him.

"'Protect her', huh?" Scarlet closes her eyes, "That's going to be a tough task..."

"I don't care! Tell us the whole story!" Koji asked.

"Very well..." Scarlet took a deep breath, "As you know, we are live extremely long lives compared to a human's life span. Growing at the same rate as a human at first, but after reaching a certain level of maturity, we age at a much slower pace."

Everyone nods.

"But we lack human's creativity, the ability to invent and move forward. We are simple people who are bound by tradition and live surrounded by nature."

"Tradition?" Rein speaks.

Scarlet nods, "Our people are wary, respecting rules and traditions established. For example: 'Avoid interacting with humans, for it beckons disaster.' is one of them."

"Seriously?" Koji said.

"Very. For those villages, contact with humans are kept to an absolute minimum, but exceptions are made if certain skills developed by humans are required, like carpentry and tailoring."

"Those are really uptight rules." Rein comments.

"Well, it doesn't apply to us. I've interacted with a LOT of humans and no disaster has fallen on me ehehe~" She giggles.

"In your case, it's the opposite, Onee-sama." Maren points out.

"*Ahem* Where was I? Oh, right--Our kind lives in small communities with at least one Crestbearer at its core. But we're outcasts so--"

"Outcasts?" Koji interrupts.

"I'll get to that. --The life of a Crestbearer is very restricted. In human standards, it's like being royalty." Scarlet explained.

"Royalty? So Maren-chan is a princess?" Yui asked.

Maren blushed, "N-No, I never lived such a life, so I don't know about it..."

"Anyway, a Crestbearer has limited freedom. They can't even choose who to marry. It's all arranged by the elders."

"That's awful! ~desu" Rein frowns.

"We were lucky though," Scarlet looks at her sister, "Our father was a commoner who fell in love with our mother, who was a Crestbearer, and eloped."

"Waa~ Romantic~" Yui's eyes sparkled.

"We don't know the details, but they were left alone, and were branded outcasts in the process." Maren spoke.

"I can think of a reason~" Scarlet chuckles.

"What was it?" Rein asks out of curiosity.

"Rein, it's best that you don't know..." Koji looked away. (I can tell what Scarlet has in mind...)

"Eeh? Why not? I want to know!" Rein pouted.

"Moving on~" Scarlet said playfully, "They had four children: Our older brother, me, and finally, twins."

"Twins?" Koji looked at Maren, who was depressed as she heard it.

"A girl and a boy, both with golden eyes. Our parents were already happy with us, but the twins brought great joy, because to them meant their union has been blessed." Scarlet explained.

"When our brother came to age, he left to see the world, coming back once in a while to visit us. Back then I was a rascal, so I ran away from home. I got scolded when I came back, so I and ran away again haha~" Scarlet laughs.

Koji sweatdropped.

"--But those days didn't last long..." Maren speaks.

"Rumours spread of a creature hunting down our kind and killing anything that got in the way." Scarlet paused, "When I heard of it I searched for my family, but it was too late..."

"....." Koji, Yui and Rein looked at the sisters.

"...I was the only survivor." Maren spoke, "I saw it with my own eyes and witnessed my twin brother die right in front of me."

She placed her hand on her chest. "I was only left alive because I was of no use to it."

"What do you mean?" Yui asks.

"Crestbearers can be easily identified by their golden eyes, hair or both, but to use the power sleeping inside them, they need to awaken it." Maren explains. "The monster learned that after killing my little brother."

"The moment a Crestbearer's power awakens a symbol appears on their body, and their magic color changes to a tone of gold. By the way, another name for them is Golden Crest." Scarlet explains.

"After that tragedy, I kept running away and never came back to that place--"

"I noticed that she had survived and tried to find her, but had no luck." Scarlet shakes her head.

Everyone remained silent.

"Anyway, it took decades for us to meet again." Scarlet sighed. "Really, this girl is quite a handful."

"--And in that first reunion I came to know just what kind of person you are...Onee-sama." Maren frowned.

"Aha-ha..." Scarlet looked away.


"So, what exactly is that monster?" Koji asks.

The woman looked at him and sighed, "Honestly, I don't know. Very little is known about it..."

"There's an old story our mother told us that mentions it." Maren spoke.

"Story?" Yui blinked.

Scarlet nodded, "Myth or truth, we don't know. But when we were children our mother told us a story of how our kind came to be."

"Many thousands of years ago..." Maren spoke, "There was only one of us. The first of our kind. She alone mothered twenty seven children--"

"Tw--That many?!" Yui said out loud as she stood.

"Take it easy, it's just a story." Scarlet patted Yui's shoulder to sit again.

Maren continued, "For generations, she and her children prospered and lived in peace...but where there is light, there is also darkness--"

"And out of darkness 'it' was born, a creature that corrupted the world with its greed and was jealous of them. One by one, it devoured her children until only a few were left." Scarlet spoke.

"Not wanting to lose the rest of her children, she fought the creature...and sacrificed herself to destroy it."

"But the world was damaged beyond repair. Using the remainder of her power, she rescued the souls of those that were devoured, dubbed one her children her successor and sent them to a nearby world."


"That's it...if it's true or not, we don't know." Scarlet comments. "But our kind firmly believes in it."

"So, the 27 children..." Koji spoke.

"It's the number of Crestbearers that exist at the same time. One of them being the successor, or Enlightened." Maren replied.

"T-Then...what Scarlet-san said earlier..." Yui looked at her.

She nodded, "Only three remain. The others were eaten...as well as the ones that tried to protect them."

"Then, that monster will be going after Maren-chan?" Yui asks.

"She should be fine for the time being." Scarlet looks at her sister, "She sealed most of her powers, which lowers her 'presence'."

"Presence?" Koji raises an eyebrow.

"You'd understand if you met a Crestbearer that acts as a village's figurehead, the way their power emanates from their body is quite overwhelming." Scarlet explains. "Compared to them, hers is at the level of a powerful human mage, also--"

Scaret looks at Koji, "By contracting with her, you're helping in lowering that presence."

"Is that so?" Koji turns to Maren.

Maren smiles and nods.

Koji smiles back, "I see." The couple stare at each other for a while.

"Mumumuu~" Yui and Rein glare at them.

"My my~ You two, don't go love-love in front of other people~" Scarlet chuckled.

"Ah--S-Sorry..." The two blush.


Scarlet thinks for a second, "Let's see...I think that's all there is to report--Oh! right!"

"What is it?"

"This might not be important, but I'll say it anyway. When I was going around checking the destroyed villages, I came upon some survivors and they all seemed to suffer from the same thing."

"Suffer? Are they sick?" Maren asked.

"They hear whispers. A small voice that keeps talking to them. Some were even driven mad by it and were outright violent."

"Did they get wounded by it? Or have scars?" Maren asked.

Scarlet nods, "They did. How did you know?"

"Because I experienced that a long time ago..." Maren answers.

Scarlet's eyes widen, "Are you okay?!"

Maren nods, "Yes. It's been 30 years since then."

"......That day, huh?"

"What day? ~desu" Rein asks.

"When Maren's powers were awoken and went berserk." Koji explains.

Maren nodded, "So, that was the truth behind the incident...another reason to stop that monster."

"Well then--" Scarlet walks up to Rein and Yui, grabbing them both, "I'll be taking these two~" She grins.

"Eh?" The girls blink, "EHHH?!"

"You two have fun." Scarlet winks at them and runs off with the girls struggling.

"......" The couple sweatdrop as they see her off.

"T-That's quite an...eccentric sister you have." He comments.

"Yes. She's my...dear sister." Maren smiles.

Due to these reasons, All Old-childa Mages are your typical generic mage build (squishy mage due to lack of exercise...but exchange, they can make an army of Anti-magic Belkan Knight scream like chickens about to be slaughtered.)

They are Glass-cannon when it come to melee but we are talking about Glass-cannon who are the combination of Caro , Hayate and Nanoha....

Cancel Buff (If they know how to do it) + Ignore Physical Defense (due to being magical damages) + Ignore Magic Defense + Magic boost (if they buff up) + High Damage (All their spells especially Ceremonial One) + Always Critical (If Skilled enough).

If that doesn't kill you (Magic is non-lethal but Old-childa Mage made them lethal enough), you will still wish you never existed.

I think I missed that OC. Forgive me, I'm pretty damn busy IRL so things usually get forgotten... Could you link me to him?

Any semblance of continuity has been shattered to pieces. All that's left is my solo effort trying to tie everything back together. And that's progressing pretty damn slowly, as I'm trying to do that without profiles, and full stories instead.

Effectively, I'm doing a reboot of my fanon world, this time taking into account the lessons I've learnt while growing up as a writer, and bringing in + updating OCs both mine and others, and the no-longer-present.

Currently, I'm writing the first leg of these Rebuilt of StrikerS fics. Its a reboot of Kha, a prominent character both loved and loathed by the veterans in this thread. Returning to the roots of [An excuse to have magical girls masquerading as giant mecha smashing each others brains in in epic battle], Rebuilt of StrikerS Nf'r follows a farmer's boy through a piece of high adventure time-shifted into modern day, as he becomes embroiled in an ancient feud between Kaiser loyalist giants and the House of Loki.

Next would be Rebuilt of StrikerS Bhalkad. This reboots the character I first gave SaintX for his fic many many years ago, and fixes the problems canon created by revealing that Alicia died 26 years before 0075. The year is 0039, and Ordered Space is plunged into war by space nazis (fanonically a horde of Belka barons unified under a charismatic leader.) The protagonist Sai Kluger is blessed & cursed by the Whispers of the Ascended, allowing him to perceive magic at a level beyond normal humans. Taken in by scientist Precia Testarossa, the Bureau hope his talents, and the lost logia armor named Bhalkad, can turn the tide. It follows Sai's role in the war, as well as provide insight to how the older characters such as Graham, Midget, Leti, Claude and Lindy were like in their youth. Sai sacrifices himself at the end, and only wakes up 26 years later, thus bringing him into the modern era.

There would be a third fic called Rebuilt of StrikerS: The Sisters of Belka, which reboots Sister-Captain Sophia. Born Tokiha Ringo, she is scouted by the Ubermensch Convent and trained as a Sister in the most veteran of battleforces amongst the Saint Church knights. This would follow then-Sergeant Sophia on one of her missions where she collaborates with then-newly-converted Yagami Hayate to prevent a prophecy of Carym's gift from coming true.

Pretty damn long a journey; I'm still on the prologue.

What a wordy character. Looks like you got inspired by Touma's Unlimited Page Works a lot here. But its simple and short, which is good for people to refer to.
