Yes, the green badge that Fuko wore signified her first-year status, Tomoyo's red badge signifies her second-year status, and the blue badges that Tomoya, Sunohara, Nagisa, Kyou, and Ryou wear on their uniforms signify their third-year status.

No, I remember in Lucky Star Konata is complaining about how underclassmen don't recognize her "senpai" status. That's partially because their uniforms aren't any different. There are plenty of examples where the uniforms are standard for all 3 years.

Not the exact colors, but many (not all) high schools have a similar system to differentiate the uniforms by year. That is why this appears in so many different anime. I'm assuming that the person who asked the original question just hasn't ever noticed it before.

Usually it's only the small parts that's different from each other. Like my school, our neckties(yes, neckties for BOTH boyz and girls) are of different colours. First years wears white, second years wear yellow, third blue and fourth black. It'd be a big trouble for the poorer families if they have to buy an entire set of uniform every year, but things like neckties come in cheap.

It also depends on what Kyoto animates next fall. To me, the best animation schedule given Clannad season 1 ends in march is:
1. Clannad: 10/07-3/08
2. Haruhi 2: 4/08-6/08
3. Clannad Part 2: 7/08-9/08
4. Unknown Series: 10/08-3/09
5. Haruhi 3: 4/09-6/09

is this information correct as this is surpost to be Kyotos schedule so is there going to be a second season of Clannad??.

hello guys. i have a quick question. i'm new to this series and i just wanted to know if i can jump right into the anime or do i need to brush up on other sources like the game before i start to better understand everything?

There has been all manner of speculation about what lies ahead for CLANNAD, and another one of those theories is based on the numbering of the catalogue numbers for the DVDs (see here for more details). They assume that because there is a gap between the numberings, that there will be some sort of special releases which will fit in there nicely, as per AIR previously.

But again, remember that this is all speculation again. I believe this is where all the rumours of a 2-cour + 1-cour CLANNAD TV series stemmed from.

By previous, it means, Air and Kanon, both anime adapted from Key.

Then it may also mean you should watch Suzumiya Haruhi and Lucky Star, they pull references from many sources and other sources pull theirs.

The KyoAni/KEY collaborations are typically fairly isolated in themselves; you'll see references to each other quite a bit, but noticably fewer references from other KyoAni productions.
