As you can see outside the love that's being proclaim by the members here, the show is a solid show. Great to some, but it's a solid show. Fanservice... not really. Episode 10 has the group at the beach so expect some swimsuit and skin, but I imagine it's not going to be fanservice heavy like you get in harem shows. Songs are good and the dance segments are great.

Also, the dance sequences sometimes use what looks like 3D character models, which is a first. (Granted, the only anime similar to Love Live that I've watched is Idolm@ster, and there weren't any CG models there I think...)

Throughout the video idol uses this is not new for example ... in AKB0048

It's not unique. PreCure's been doing it since Fresh and that's about 4 years ago. Sunrise, who is doing Love Live!, is also doing Aikatsu. But the CG work in that one kinda sucked (well honestly more use of stock footage) as you can see where the budget went to.

AKB0048 also has that, but honestly I like Love Live's CG work better.

The characters are endearing and not boring. They all have likeable personalities to the point that there isn't a character that you can hate.

That's rare especially in anime.

The music is good. The editing is amazing! The music selection for every scene has a purpose. You can tell that the people working on this have credibility and won't rely on overly forced development just to make something dramatic.

What makes this anime good is that it's funny too!

They focus mainly on one specific goal. It may not sound all that important, but the way the characters interact will make you root for them in the end.

I would say that it's an underrated show, but from what it looks like now; it really isn't. This is probably gonna be the next big thing if it isn't already. IMO.

It's a great show, but most of all, it'll leave you feeling good after watching every episode.

I think so.

I haven't seen any pantsu. I can't recall seeing many lingering, pervy camera shots. Breast groping is probably the only cliche fanservice here, and that's more a part of one character's schtick than a significant recurrence.

I'd say the fanservice is around Saki-level. If you want to see it, it's there. If you don't, it's fairly innocuous.

They're catchy, imo. They're fun to listen to.

Honestly, I prefer this show to iDOLM@STER. This show has more consistent and smooth development of its entire core cast than what iDOLM@STER had, imo. I really do think that Love Live! does a better job of juggling its cast than iDOLM@STER did.

Anyway, I just watched Episode 9 of this. Though it didn't hit quite as high a note with me as Episode 8 did, this latest episode was still a very nice episode, It did a good job of showing how Eri and Muse are changing one another. while it also managed to be a good character development episode for Kotori.

Eri adds a nice touch of class, seriousness, and intellectualism to the protagonist cast. Not saying that other characters don't bring this - Maki does sometimes, for example - But Eri does it with a good consistency and with less shyness. In turn, it's really nice to see Eri smile a lot, and lose the grouchiness that she often carried as an antagonist.

This was also a good episode for Kotori. Of the original trio, she probably was the one most in need of added characterization and having a distinctive element to call her own, and her being this famous maid waitress helps a fair bit there.

The whole School Idol merchandise was a bit strange, but I guess that if School Idols aren't "a thing" in real world Japan, they are in the Japan of this show.

From what I could gather, that one shop specializes in school idol merchandise. Perhaps that shop has some sort of special deal with, well, a bunch of schools? Maybe schools get a cut of the profit or something like that.

In any event, I'm willing to roll with it. At least for now.

This every time I watch Love Live, even when I rewatch some of the earlier episodes as well.

It is definitely a great "fell-good" show. When it comes to creating emotional highs and leaving a sort of "good aftertaste", this show is one of the best.

This show is in someways kind of like Aria. Relaxing, fun, and just leave you feeling good. What it lacks in scenery and background music, it makes up in fanservice (not the ecchi type).

EDIT:

Thankfully this show developed its own flair to separate it from idolmaster. LL girls way closer to idols both in series and women behind the voices. It is much easier to relate to them. Plus staff does supeb job on handling the story and characters.

Idolmaster girls are more over the top. Sometimes they remind me of those action movies where member of the squad had to have a speciality and cool nickname. So you need more suspension of disbelief in Im@s than LL. Muse is presented as a unit whereas Im@s tries to make every girl unique and pack more extravaganza.

P.S: I'm 90% sure a lot of Idolmaster popularity stims from voice cast. Mingosu and Eriko are of the kind. LL is not even in cannon shot close to Im@s enterntaining value.

Love Live Life 09 - School Idols Akiba Étranger

An Akiba-centric episode? This episode didn't need to do much more than that to get me to enjoy it. Akihabara is my favorite place in the world*. The merchandise stuff was interesting. I don't think μ's has approved any of the stuff that's being sold, but I'm sure they'll gain some cut of the profits once they strike it out to some form of success. A-RISE continues to remain a shadowy entity, though. All the cafe stuff was pulled off pretty well, and I liked the montage at the end. Probably a bit budget-saving compared to going full concert, but the effect worked well. Kotori really shone this week - I can point to a moment in the nine episodes where all nine of the main characters have shone, some more obvious than others. Though if there's anyone I'd like to see a bit more of, maybe it's Nozomi. She has the same kind of mysteriousness as A-RISE, mostly with the tarot cards thing. Next week's episode looks like a lot of fun too.

*that I've never visited.

does anyone not get bothered by the letter bit at the end while kotori was enjoying her nap?
i thought that was some sort of message lol
at first i thought "what?" when i saw the episode was mainly about kotori, til i realized kotori had a weak presences through out the show except the lama bit.

I liked Idolm@ster but character developed mostly applied only to Chihaya and Miki.

I think Love Live is a bit better in that area.
It is not the best show ever but it has a more solid story than Idolm@ster, I find characters enjoyable and songs good.

The only thing that bothers me are CG characters when they dance.

Okay... this has been nagging me...
What the heck is that song playing during Kotori's getaway scene!!?? I rewatched that scene like 6 times already!
I'm sure I've heard it before, unless it's based off of another song which I've heard.
Strangely, I thought of this song when I heard it. I'm surprised I remembered it since it's been over 10 years since I heard it.
