Evol was uneven to say the least, and it got really frustrating after a certain point, but it was loads of fun anyway (despite Okada being Okada), and the ending made up for a lot of things. And as long as I see more Touma/Mykage.......

Just, yeah, please don't let Okada Mari near this one. Please. I'll pay money. Also please retcon the dog thing, that was so stupid.

(Also, how about they break the formula and Touma gets a happy ending in this one?)

This, if they are anywhere near this adaptation won't even recognize it's existence, I am a self proclaimed EVOL hater, what they did to Zessica was a travesty I was almost about try jumping through the screen to kill Amata and f*cking Mikonos.

Ah man....I thought Evol is the final chapter of this love mess. I too hate how it ended for Zessica and wanted to kill the director for that ending. Who going to be the next villian? Touma 2 got what he wanted and Fudo reveal to be the real Appollonus. I just hope it a reboot and get rid of that stupid Winged Dog reincarnation sub plot. Also this is the 10th anniversary of Garo as well.

still as a devoted fan like i care for those crap, but the original Aquarion does not deserve that fate in Evol,

on a plus side, screw the romance, we have more new Aquarions!! yay!! i just want my orgasm powered robots in action

Next series must have:

-The return of monsters of the week
-A villain on par with Mykage
-The cast being more rounded like in Genesis
-No lolis like Yunoha ruining it
-Amazing music and art like always

And no I don't care about "Mari Okada writing" or "Zessica suffering" or "Mikono winning" or "Amata was a dog" like the rest of you. Genesis was art, EVOL backstabbed the original to some degree. Kawamori still has his magic touch if Nobunaga The Fool is any indication since its currently the best anime of the decade.

Eh, I’m more worried about Kawamori’s writing after that shit Nobunaga the Fool he came up with (easily the worst mecha anime of that year, and arguably one of the worse-written mecha series as far as I can remember). Such a waste of beautiful character-design, cool mecha-design and good soundtrack.

Agreed.

The original Aquarion is not that good to begin with. EVOL is a glorious trainwreck that's still watchable and even entertaining, so my expectation if they indeed make a new series will be no more than a guilty pleasure (like Aldnoah this season).

Side note: You know, in terms of writing, I came to realization that mecha series from Xebec is more reliable (not only these days but maybe for the last decade).

Wow...I was hoping for a new installment of the franchise but after the finality of EVOL's ending, I wasn't sure we'd ever see one unless Kawamori felt like doing it again. So this is very awesome news for me as a major fan of the franchise

After Nobunaga The Fool and the majority of EVOL's second half, I'm not sure how I feel about Okada being back or Kawamori taking the reins of scripting like he did for The Fool. I think it would be nice to see a new script writer take a crack at the series if nothing else, and Kawamori just hanging back in his position as creative director like he usually does

.

Though if Okada does come back, I hope she can maintain a lot of the more enjoyable aspects of EVOL for this new series and doesn't fall into the same writing issues that happened in the second half.

Really curious to see what the plot for this will be, especially after EVOL's ending. There's Zessica unrequited love that they could pick up on again with her reincarnation, though I wonder if we'll still follow the reincarnations of Celiane and...whoever they want to make her reincarnated lover be. Maybe we'll finally see Otoha back as main villain now that Toma/Mykage's is pretty much satisfied

But yeah, with Macross Delta on the way, really looking forward to more orgasmic Gattai sequences, Mecha action, awesome music, and romance from this new Aquarion

Oh, I agree with you (hence my "guilty-pleasure" label), but it’s hard to ignore the plot when a show slaps that very flawed plot, romance, and the general “mythos” in your face and sometimes being rather heavy-handed like Nobunaga the Fool. Unlike Gundam Build Fighters who knows how to take it easy with the plot and gives the audience what they really want (Gunpla fights!!), Aquarion has a lot of plot and we're supposed to care about it.

Eh, the problem with Nobunaga the Fool wasn't the concept or even the story, it was the overall pacing and the actual in-episode writing. Not to say Kawamori was innocent in those (he did handle the overall series composition, after all), but it's not like he was the single person responsible... Also, frankly, to me NobuFool was a hot, hot mess, lots of fun if you ask me (and it gave us Caesar! <3), so yeah.

It's tons of fun, though, easily one of my favorite mecha series. Seriously, plot? what plot? who cares?

The original Aquarion only suffered when every now and then it tried to take its plot seriously, otherwise it was awesome, tongue-in-cheek fun. (That's why I don't like the OVAs, they're all serious and bleh.) And as as far as I'm concerned, Evol's main problem was mainly the pacing and the horrible handling of the main characters and the love quadrangle, which was pretty much Okada's fault. (Same with the stupid dog retcon, that was also Okada and it was the stupidest idea ever.)
