So basically it's another episode of the anime, as it clearly takes place before the final parts of the series. Unless there were some massive retcons.

The animation looks really good very crisp and fresh . Totally feels like a Gundam in terms of weapons technology . Hadnt known Yamato: Rebirth thanks for posting this looking foward to it when DVD releases .

The character designs are a bit hard on the eyes in some places, but other than that it looks good. And more Yamato is always welcome.

And this is a sequel?! I so thought it was a remaking! Now I'm definitely revved up for this.

It is that planned sequel...the one they tried to make in 1994 but never could (for a lot of reasons...none the least was Kodai's voice actor dying around that same time).


It tooks 15 years...plus 11 from Final Yamato, but they finally did it.
(If I remember correctly thought, this was originally going to tie into Yamato 2520...but we'll see what they do this time around)
