Seen the subbed...
In general.. I find the first half a bit boring but the second half rocks!!! Too bad they wasted a lot of fight scenes... They should made the entire episode as a fight episode... HAh!!! Russians! Seems they loss a couple of their so called Eishis? Now they learn the value of cooperation and trust in battle.. Yuuya kick ass... He took the spotlight... Oh... he made Yui cry!!! You lucky man!!! |

The first part of this episode was fine. I personally find the briefings, info dumps and build-up to be a fascinating aspect of the Muv-Luv universe for the most part, and they make the action all the better when it does come around. Just throwing us into the action without explaining the situation and showing us the dispositions of the characters would be much worse. This was the first time I've felt like I was watching a real Muv-Luv spinoff since episode 2.

Wow, I'm tearing up right now. I can imagine how Yui is feeling. Her weapon, that she worked so hard on, was successful, and not only that, it saved the lives of so many people, and possibly countless more in the future. To top it off, it kept her love, Yuuya, from being killed. It was definitely a happy moment in a world of tears, distruction, and death.
This was one of the best episodes so far, and it finally brought back what was missing since the first 2 episodes. The emotions, drama, and action... all the atmosphere... finally has returned this episode. I hope they can keep it up. I was under the impression that the Scarlet Twins were experimented on and have split personalities. Maybe something similar to I understand Kriska changing, but I never imagined a blood-thirsty Inia. The other issue then is why does Kriska get weak to the point of fainting? It seems like it is some sort of stress that drains her energy, maybe the worry of the other "delicate" personality?

The ones calling the shots think differently, they care more about Mother Russia than a bunch of front line fodder. The things they cared about were the scarlet Sisters(Who were doing fine) and stopping the test weapon because it would revolutionize things and give Japan the upper hand in the UN. |

Hm... seeing how the TSF actually had to use it's thrusters during the whole fireing sequence ... maybe it's some kind of railmachinegun that not only fires one bullet. But yeah, what the heck Soviets!? At least Latrova showed to be clever enough to see taht she was being sacrificed.

When I watched the invasion BETA resurface I got the feeling that they are just plain to few. Now that I tried to watch the first episode and 2nd episode. That one is more like alternative feeling on it.
From the game thread. People I talk with know that I start playing muv luv game trilogy last week. And now playing through alternative.... I got the feeling of total eclipse way to tame for my taste >_> no shit happens? I'm not familiar much with total eclipse but here's a question and I think I ask it before but I forgot the answer thanks to playing alternative. But total eclipse happens before alternative right? Then is the manga and light novel connected? then what is the vn version of it? the same and connected? it's just that I heared and read lots of total eclipse that for now it doesn't much make sense on it or rather the whole franchise. The trilogy that I played and specially alternative focus more on japanese side and their hate for america and etc etc and not much info for other country thus eclipse is really total new to me after playing the game. When I watch the first few episode without past knowledge of the series I found it good but now..... what the heck are they doing in this episode? and only destroyer, tank and grappler class? it just doesn't feel right for me to not see the annoying laser class and the fort class spawning annoying little guys. Can someone explain to me how the plan come into like this because I don't get it. because isn't BETA unpredictable? how did they knew they will be surfacing there or did I miss something? its a planned operation right but does this mean they are already monitoring that horde of BETA and already knew what will attack? And the soviet plans to not make the railgun fire? is that the plan of the soviet leaders or america? The battle left me in disappointment thanks to that darn game. I should have played it after watching this series. It just doesn't look the same and fun anymore

Anyway, regarding that second paragraph, I think they mentioned last episode that they picked up the BETA herd by satellite fairly early before they submerged or something, so they had sufficient warning to set up a perimeter on the beach and wait for the vibration sensors to pick them back up, as well as an idea of what this particular herd was composed of. |

Really. That was something that really stood out
Except that, I really enjoyed the episode, nice balance of action, technical stuffs and Yui/Yuuya interactions. Nothing felt out of place. A bit lovey-dovey in the end with each other for that context, but it was really nice. Even if I didn't get what they intended to do with Yui's face while hearing Yuuya thanking her. She at first seemed to be depressed/offended instead of being proud of her work (despite whatever Yuuya could have said her just one second later). Good work with the tension during the action (little action), nice to see Yuuya stressed by the situation. Speaking of Cryska, to me it seems to be brainwashing or mind control. They keep reprogramming her because apparently emotions get in the way and so the brainwash gets softened putting her in that confused state of mind. Inia doesn't get affected that much thanks to her younger age (is she younger?), or because the treatments started at a younger age, that didn't let her grown up mentally. Something like that.

And even if we assume it was a repeated stream of projectiles, the ammunition and energy for that would be unimaginable, and there is no way a rifle would stand that, no matter how the setting is portraying the rifle as heat resilient.

But the answer to how they might have conceivably provided the energy supply and the barrel cooling system for a railgun that could fire at that speed for that long is beyond the scope of what the anime bothers to really explain (thanks to skipping that one scene from the very start of the story). Besides, ammunition supply for a gun that fires 800rpm isn't that unimaginable, even if energy and required cooling system is. Last edited by DoomRavager; 2012-08-27 at 05:09. |
