Whereas ME1 saw the assault rifle as the most dominant weapon, in ME2 the limited "ammo" + locational damage system + overall enhanced weapon damage means that accuracy now matters, meaning even your basic pistols are a whole lot more important now.

I also like how the importance of cover has been significantly improved this time around. Even in normal difficulty, the usual "run & gun" I do in ME1 will get me killed in a few seconds in ME2.

Just got my copy. The game is so damn good that I'm thinking of it when I'm not playing. Even though I only played it for a few hours I like it so far, and I'll like everything till the finish. Shame about weapon and armor purchase changes, but I don't mind. Can't wait to get Tali on my team, can't go on a suicide mission without a quarian. The stuff you can do in the ship is amazing, really good additions that makes it look like a real one. They have bathrooms for starters =)

I don't know why people bitched about Mako, I liked exploring the planet with it. Now we have scanning which is interested at first but it will get tiring for me later on no doubt.

Vanguard is...really useless in Hardcore difficulty. What's the point of Charge when you die in 3 hits?

on hardcore I' think Charge would be good for getting out of a hot spot.

how is hardcore even possible if u die in 3 shots?

Anyone know the EXACT requirements to get the gameplay bonuses from importing an ME1 character to ME2?

I search around in the ME forums, I get vague bullshit like 'oh yeah, I think your level gives you some benefits' or 'some achievements, like Rich, gives you a bonus', and quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of it.

Since I've been playing this for 8 hours straight right now, I think it's fair to say I like it. A lot. So I thought I'd write a short rundown in general.

In spiler to spare space. No spoilers inside.

Spoiler for First Impression:

@Karuma: When you start a new character, without an ME1 save, you don't get a lot of choice. I think it depends on your choices when creating your Shephard (Ruthless, War Hero, Sole Survivor, Earthborn, etc) which determines different paths you "Would" have taken in ME1.

About the scars, well... you have to play it. I personally consider that a spoiler.

If anyone got questions about something else, toss 'em.

Spoiler for "The Fan": The game misreads the charm response to Conrad (convincing him to go home) as the intimidate response (pointing your gun at him) in the importing process, causing him to be a dick to you when you meet him in ME2. Spoiler for First Impression: Rig -Intel Core Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz -4 GB RAM -8800 GTS 512 -Integrated soundcard (AKA blargh) -22" 1680x1050 Playing with highest possible settings. Performance -Running smooth as hell. -Stuttering is extremely rare. That goes for both cinematic and gameplay. -Loading times virtually non-existent. Longest so far was 10 seconds, once. Even loading a save is very quick. -No crashes or other problems. Installation went smooth. Download of both free DLCs' went without a hitch. Graphics --Positive: -Updated graphics. -Looks awesome. -Screams quality. --Negative: -Still suffer from weird texture. Especially eyes. -See-through body parts. Some being hilarious in cinematics. -General mouth movement weirdness. Sound -Amazing music, much better than the first game, if that's even possible. -Voice acting much better, less awkward, although it has its weird moments. -Weapons sounds like they should. -Creatures sound like they should. -Explosions are glorious. Controls A minor weakness. -Mouse options limited. The low sensitivity would be considered HIGH in any other game. However, one gets used to it. That's coming from someone who usually plays with very low. -Keyboard layout configurable and works nice. -Controlling Shepard feels smooth. The movement (Sprint, cover, etc) changes are excellent compared to the first game. HUD -Feels "plastic" for some reason. Doesn't feel it is what it could be. -Keeping track of friendlies' shield and health is an annoying task, especially if you don't know what colors mean what. -Gives you everything else you need to keep track of. Removal of permanent map (you have to press M to get it up temporarily to see objective direction and enemies) gives it a tactical feeling. General thoughts As I'm probably only 40%-50% through the game, I won't say anything about the story. It isn't boring, that's for sure. 8 hours non-stop says something. Playing on Normal. The "Ammo/Heat sink" change is not a big deal IMO. I was bothered with this too, but after a few hours you learn to preserve ammo. It provides a further challenge and forces you to prioritize your weapons. The Scan Planets function is actually quite nice, so is the whole upgrade weaons, armor, ship etc, function. Provides more stuff to do. Might get tedious after a while however, especially on multiple breakthroughs. I don't miss the Mako. At all. To summarize; ME2 is much more alive and real. Compared to the first game, this is much more interactive and interesting, and that also goes for the general atmosphere on worlds and stations you visit.
