If this is true...well, it will throw a giant wrench in the "Space Opera" stories bit of International SaiMoe League (ISML). Not that that really matters. But Key crossing lines from KyoAni to J.C. Staff would seem like a big thing...as major "rivals". At least on a strictly moe contest level.

It seems like the insinuation is that it's an early leak from the magazine being released on Tuesday... but I have to say that, not having seen the evidence, this sounds like a perfect 2ch fabrication to me too, since it's guaranteed to cause a flurry of controversy. But, then again, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be true (which would make it a good fake). Anyway, we should know more soon.
I don't know... I don't think the direction of this anime is the biggest challenge, but rather the writing and planning, which I'm sure Key is heavily involved in no matter who the staff will be. So I think it's within the realm of possibility. (And I personally liked Hatsukoi Limited well enough, even if it wasn't a huge success commercially... )

In any case, if this new rumor is actually true, I'm still going to watch it, but it will be bad. |

Edit: Beaten. At this point, I think we should count it as rumour awaiting proof.

Meanwhile, I found this in the Games section; a few quotes from November regarding Little Busters anime:

Well sure, this is less obviously outlandish. But it it's a fake, it's a very good one - usually scammers don't have that kind of restraint. If they're trolling, I applaud the sheer art of the effort - these are names that seem almost religiously average. You could hardly have chosen figures who stand out less, for reasons either good or bad.

I think that's a bit of a dangerous line of thinking. If you have a good idea of how you want the show to be made, sometimes what's most important is finding someone who really believes in your vision and is determined to do a good job. Sometimes the bigger names and more experienced staff have their own ideas of how to do things and are more likely to insert themselves into the work. So, sometimes working with underdogs (who have something to prove) can be a bet that pays off. But, of course, it's risky.
Assuming this does turn out to be true, I can only say again that they definitely did not go into this project blindly without knowing what the fans want. I don't think they were desperate. Past interviews suggested that they actually rejected previous offers and teams, and that many companies were interested in the project. If this is indeed true, we should assume that they chose the team they felt would do a good job.
