Well with LUcy they took away some skin (top covers more), but added some (shoes showing more leg than the boots). Perhaps the best thing is that guard's nose got shrunk right down to fit behind the mask .

We've come to expect these level of changes when it comes to Lucy's attire, so it's nothing new.

What is interesting is the change in helmet wear for the soldiers.

I just find it interesting in how they 'balance' Lucy out. Like how they cover her top more in exchange for WAY more leg exposure.

True but even with that I still prefer the manga clothes. I like those boots

If i didn't like seeing Lucy's boots, i'd agree with you.

Also i wish the anime would keep the patterns on Lucy's top. The girl has style.

So anime decide to add more fillers this time around, well that's understandable because manga is just this arc appart right now. stretching things out is logical and so far it is not bad. So anime decided to create an opposite Gajeel? That should be fun.

First off, that's Earthland Lucy, not Edolas Lucy.

Second, personally I'm glad they "censored" that guard's face

Actually, it's not censored, it's just a completely different outfit. They gave her open shoes instead of boots, too... And they're exposing MORE skin on her mid drift. So I would go and just say that it's the difference in taste between the anime's character designer vs. Mashiro.

I didn't like the change in outfit for Edolas Lucy. I liked how her legs and breasts were more exposed by the outfit.

Also, same with the cloth change, the original manga Lucy actually looks better than the change in the anime.

It's an outfit redesign, but I'm pretty sure it was censorship driven. It matches the same general sort of "less cleavage/less scantily clad" censorship that changed Edo-Lucy from a Cana-esque "is that a bra or a bikini top?" outfit that EL Lucy would never willingly wear, to a modest jacket and pants that only really differs from something that EL Lucy would wear in that she prefers skirts and brighter colors.

The smaller stuff like the nose, shrinking to fit behind a face mask, and the lack of patterns on clothing is just simplification of designs for animating.

And there was no joy in Mudville, for the towel scene didn't have Edo Lucy bursting out naked to show off her shared identical body to Earthland Lucy, and neither did Earthland Lucy go Dive tackle Edo Lucy to cover her up with a towel before she could show herself off... . Instead Edo Lucy came out fully wrapped up and Earthland Lucy just came out whining about Edo Lucy in an outfit Earthland Lucy has already worn in episode 2 in front of Natsu and Happy .

It was so much more funny in the manga... oh well, we did get the Gajeel loving himself filler to kinda make up for the humor loss and Gemini as Lucy too (personally I'm wondering why Gemini wasn't in a towel also)

and the anime kinda spoiled another thing from the manga and I'm not talking about scenes from next week (can't say what or where for spoiler reasons). But this at least the 3rd thing they spoiled ahead of a good twist/punchline for some totally random reason I've yet to figure out.

This episode covered 1.5 chapters (so lots of fillers in the episode), it's now up to ch 174 page 7 (top panel) for anyone wanting to jump into the manga now.

One man's good twist is another man's "the author pulled this out of his ass with no foreshadowing". Frankly, the plotting of this arc was terrible in the manga. I like the fact that the anime is changing it so it makes some kind of sense.

Yeah but I can think of many better ways to do it... sigh... can't go into details sadly for spoiler reasons.

For clarification I was referring to a spoiled "joke" this time and not a twist... as to the twists that where spoiled, I recall no one whining about the now foreshadowed spoilers where ass pulls in when the manga came out since there was some foreshadowing for all them (all be it much less blatantly obvious as it is now).

Won't disagree that this arc is the worst of any FT arc plot wise and in need of some editing (the worst three are usually considered Tower of Paradise, OS, and Edolas... with ToP & OS just ending very poorly but Edolas weak overall) ; but I do, at times, think it's one of the funniest arcs... so there killing some great jokes with these edits and that is a shame.

So Mystogan sent back Lucy and probably Gajeel. He also gave her a pill before teleporting her.

Is this pill the reason why she can still use her magic? So does this mean that other members will need to take the pills in order to use their magic? Finally, does the effect of the pills run out after a certain amount of time, hence, Earthland Lucy might eventually not be able to use her magic anymore?

Edolas Natsu is funny. Inside his car, he is cocky and tries to act cooler than he is. Outside of his car, he is a complete pushover.

I am surprised Gajeel hasn't heard anything about the gang or bump into them yet, considering how much a ruckus they have created and how close in proximity he was all the time. He is actively searching for them, too, and trying to find that ruckus.

So with Edolas Lucy going back to her guide to convince them to fight, does that mean the Edolas Fairy Tail will finally fight back? They have really downplayed the Natsu and Lisanna, since I was expecting so much more from her when she first appeared. Hopefully, she will be a significant part of the story at some point, since she has so much story potential here.

Also, I really can't wait until they explain the significance of Exceed someday. Can't wait for next week's episode.

Very fun episode. Feel like the scenes with the two Gajeel's are a bit pointless, though still fun at the same time. Great use of a cliffhanger , and a preview that shows nothing but drama!

wonderful episode! The best highlight must be Gajeel and his counterpart. Acting cool like that.... I was laughing so hard. lol.
