Louise was quite arrogant before using big the explosion spell(against elves flotte),i did no like how she tried to belittle charlotte(among other)who's much more useful than her, most of the time, and don't expect praise or anything for her help.
can't wait to see her reaction when she'll learn saito isn't her exclusive familiar anymore, thank to tiffa.she deserve it.

Tiffania is like Saito's ultimate fantasy, and at least Tiffania doesn;t abuse people, I second SaitoXTiffania over SaitoXLouise
nice development on volume 20, I hope it will be a happy end in the end, a harem ending
and ZnT will end on 22, sad to know it. it mentioned on the back summary, the final countdown was started, started on 3 with this volume.
as with Saito power up, glad to see no new character as Tifania's familiar, and from what Julio and the priest were saying, the 4th void will endure the worst fate, to be rise from the dead every time he dies.
so now Saito is immortal?
lol, worst fate....
I wonder what really happened with Sasha and Brimil... Vittorio mentioned about the "mistakes" she made, which is killing Brimil I think.

Doesn't that mean Sasha is still alive, now, even after 6000 years?
if brimir died-sinse she killed him-she should have lost her familiar power,as would saito if louise or tiffa were to die.
i had hoped tiffa would (begin) to learn elf magic in this novel so i'm disapointed:if she dosn't now she never will:there's only two vol. left.
Though i don't believe he will manage to finish with only two-there's just no enough plot developpement per vol for that.
yeah, it mentioned that the only way to retain her/his mortality is to kill its master. it looks like that Sasha didn't choose to live with love as she killed Brimil (when Brimil summoned the 4th familiar, Sasha became the one. Brimil loves her so much Sasha then become his 4th familiar)
so Sasha was what exactly Saito is now, have two runes on the chest and left hand.
we still don't know what the duty of this 4th familiar is, maybe a sacrifice? lol but he can't die now.
As far as duty goes, I don't think there is one for the 4th familiar. The first 3 were summoned out of need. Needs like protection, travel, and advice. But we don't know what Brimir summoned the 4th one for, and whatever it was, the result was derailed because due to his love for Sasha, the 4th one became God's Love, and the girl was resummoned.

There's not enough plot development only if Tiffa were to learn elf magic. If she doesn't, then the entire cast already hovering over elf's land with an army waiting below is more than enough to advance the first needed stage of the plot, that is, to make piece with the elves. That'd probably take another volume, and then in the final volume we'll get to see how they solve the world's problem as well as the little other loose ends.
to begin with why would Sasha kill Brimir? if Brimir loves Sasha then does Sasha hate him?
I want to know more on that part.
I like Louise but I more TiffaxSaito. Even though Tiffa might be to simple compare to Louise but I like her more because she doesn't go nuts and much more kind than her.
I like Louise but I more TiffaxSaito. Even though Tiffa might be to simple compare to Louise but I like her more because she doesn't go nuts and much more kind than her.
I doubt it'll end like that though, if Saito has put up with Louise for so long and is still in love with her is because he likes her the way she is and it's not like this is the first time a busty (maybe not that busty but definitely more than Louise) girl that's kind get interested in him; so I don't think he'll have a change of heart at the last minute (I'm guessing an OT3 would be possible though, but Siesta seems more fitting for that role ).
So any predictions about what'll happen next? I'm guessing that Tiffa is going to be out of commission for a while so the focus will be on the group that's attacking the elves and maybe Saito finding out what's happening and try to reach them and that's when the pope makes his move?
Like someone mentioned before it seems like this whole thing is going towards a confrontation between Saito X Louise Vs Gulio X Tabitha's twin sister as the next mayor battle.
Finally got around to reading it... It was really hard to take time off from Pokemon Emerald...
There was a few nice developments in this volume, but I felt the developments were somewhat slow. Also, a few developments that were pretty sudden and honestly kind of disappointing, especially the double contract thing. Well, better than dragging the series longer with more new characters, I guess.
The illustrations weren't interesting at all this time though... A little bit more on the serious parts and little less on the boobs and all, please...
Seems someone already posted summaries, so I wasn't sure whether I should do it this time or not, but for my sake too, I decided to just write one:
Spoiler for volume 20 summary:
Chapter 1:
Continuing from last time, Saito and co. have escaped the Elf capital and is riding on a boat out of that place.
Saito and Derf. talk about stuff that have happened to him, but Derf never tries to talk about what he had remembered about Primir before he was destroyed.
Later at night, Saito and Tiffania talk about how brave and whatever Saito is for being able to fight so valiantly and all. Some little part about Saito feeling wish-washy again (yeah, let’s spend another volume on that!) and Tiffania kisses Saito, kind of like those give-up kiss type of atmosphere.
Anyways, Saito decided to try his best (not anything new).
So the next day, they reach an island where Lukshana says her friend is. They decide to go meet her friend.
*insert a whole bunch of stupid breast-focused comedy*
They have to go through water, so Lukshana creates some magic to allow them to breathe and they swim to where her friend, Umihaha (Mother of the Sea), is.
Chapter 2:
It was a water dragon. Figures…
After a lot of talking about how dragons don’t hate the devil’s decedents/Void like the Elves do and how she doesn’t know where the Gate is, Lukshana and co. gain permission to hide in the cave.
And then three days pass…
More time passes, and Tiffania learned how to swim. Seems she has an affinity with water…
But one time, while swimming, a Sea Dragon appeared and attacked Saito and Tiffania. Saito was losing, but with the power of boobs (ugh…), Saito manages to stab the dragon with Derf… However, he had a hard time pulling Derf out. But when he finally pulled it out, the dragon had dragged him near his lair. Anyways, relieved, Saito sits down on a nearby rock… only to find it was actually a submarine.
Chapter 3:
Lukshana, Tiffania, and Saito search the Submarine. They find at the end a nuclear bomb.
You know, I’m surprised Saito recognized the Russian words and figured out it was Russian. Last time I checked, he wasn’t exactly supposed to be smart or studious… Whatever…
Saito is wondering over whether he should use the nuke or not, as a card in diplomacy.
Tiffania prepares to summon a familiar…
Chapter 4:
Back at the elf capital… A meeting was held on the escape of Saito and co. A group led by a new character called Esmile tries to get Bidashal into trouble, but another new character called Tyuluke saves him. But in the end. Esmile decides to go and attack Saito.
After a talk about what might happen next between Bidashal and Airi, Bidashal gives Airi a letter and tells him to run and hide away in Gallia until all of this is over.
Bitashal goes and talks with Tyuluke, who reveals to him that the Dragon’s Cave (where Saito is) is indeed Shaitan’s Gate, and that what he fears is that if an army comes from beyond that gate, the elves could be annihilated. And for that, he wishes to send Bidashal to the west, to figure out what the people there are planning to do.
Now then, on Esmile’s side, he decides to send his troops, led by another new character, Fatima (Luminous Arc?) to the Dragon’s Cave.
Dang, the illustration here and these two spells out “噛ませ犬” in big bold letters.
Chapter 5:
Umihaha sees Saito still thinking about what to do, and anyways, after a little talk, she brings him and the other two to a place deeper in the cave, where lots of stuff from Earth layed. He managed to find many usable weapons.
He starts to realize the cave is actually the Gate when suddenly, explosions started occurring from above.
Saito decides to become the decoy and have the other two girls escape. He goes out on his own and tries to get the enemies’ attention…
But it turns out that the enemy outside was a decoy too, and the main army including Fatima actually went into the water.
The two girls encounter Fatima and her soldiers and get shot. Nearly dying, Tiffania tries to summon a familiar, and Saito pops up from the gate she opened.
He sees what is going on and takes out all of the enemies. How weak…
He realizes that he was summoned as Tiffania’s familiar and kisses her, sealing the pact and faints.
By the way, apparently Tiffania’s power of love broke all rules about only one servant per master and all. Hahaha, talk about plot device. Bleh.
Chapter 6:
A little scene with the leaders of the countries talking to each other.
Afterwords, we get a scene where Vittorio and Julio explain to the viewers that they have their own agenda and what they tell the public and others were actually lies.
Then we get a scene where Josette, that stupid fairy-tale minded girl, tries to summon a familiar and says that if it wasn’t Julio, she would kill herself.
Well, it was Julio.
So now the four familiars are actually just two, Saito being two and Julio being two.
Chapter 7:
Louise gets cheered up.
Colbert has a plan involving taking an elf hostage and trading it for Saito and Tiffania.
Chapter 8:
As Colbert and co.’ ship continues its journey towards the Elf capital, patrolling elves try attacking them and they all end up getting shot down.
A ship also tried to stop them, but it got heavily damaged.
In the meantime, with her usual tofu-level mentality, Louise is shaking and despairing as usual (what was the point of the previous chapter…), but Siesta comes in and helps her think more positively.
In other words, more cheering up.
Chapter 9:
A group of elven ships prepare to face Louise and co., but similar to Fatima and co., they talk big and activate a whole bunch of flags, and… easily get sunk by Louise’s Explosion.
And so, with those ships sunk, the group prepares to reach their target…
Epilogue:
Saito wakes up in Airi’s submarine-like dragon ship. It seems he saved them. Tiffania managed to stay alive too, just barely. Fatima also was brought into the ship (Oh great, are we gonna waste a chapter on her?).
Saito realizes the runes on his chest and asks Derf. what is happening. He doesn’t answer.

Eh?
They were talking about Void in general, how when a Void dies, a new Void somewhere else is born. Not that the 4th void is a zombie.

A overall summary is much appreciated Serenade_Beta . Still, I can't believe this is the third last volume. I look forward to see how they are gonna wrap this up, and what Saito's new ability will be. Something about the human weapon thing I guess.
Personally I reckon Saito should just make a kung-fu pole-arm and go Shaolin monk on the pope

Help appreciated
I'll just repost some summaries I have past Saxe-Gotha, though it's VERY brief. If you want Vol19 and Vol20 summary, it's all within the last ten pages I think.
Spoiler for ZnT LN summary:
Vol8:
Saito finds Gandalfr runes disappeared, and heals up at Tiffania's place. Louise decides to go look for Saito after ending up almost catatonic from losing him. Henrietta orders Agnes to look for Saito after hearing how thanks to him the Albion Army barely missed the last ship out of Albion. Eventually Agnes finds Saito, and knows he lost the familiar runes. Saito tried to make it seem like he's dead to Louise, thinking he no longer has the strength to protect Louise, even faking a grave.
Later when Shieffield, the Mind of God (look up name at wiki, I can't spell it...) attacks Louise desparately used the summoning spell, still hoping Saito is still alive. Saito decides to jump through and help defeat the Mind of God, after hearing Agnes' words "do you protect Louise because you're Gandalfr, or because you're Hiraga Saito?" and decides to protect Louise simply because he loves her and not because he has the strength.
Louise gets saved, and Saito becomes the Gandalfr again. The relationship doesn't go further because he remarked about Louise's flat chest -.-
Vol9:
Louise finds out Tifa is half elf, then Saito leaves with Louise, Agnes and Siesta to go back to Tristain. Tifa stays behind to take care of the orphans.
Saito gets kinghted as a Chevalier, and holds the position of vice captain for the Undine Knights. Siesta gets assigned as Saito's maid.
Henrietta finds out she loves Saito, and finally acts on it at the Slepnir Ball. This is mainly because of being isolated from people that would care for her emotionally as part of being Queen, while Saito is foreign enough they can interact without being too bound by formality.
Louise sees Saito kissing Henrietta at the ball, runs away and gets captured by Shieffield. Saito tries to get Louise back, but was stopped by Tabitha. Saito barely managed to get into position to kill Tabitha, but finds himself unable to due to their friendship. Tabitha then helps Saito fight Shieffield, but ultimately can't do anything. At the last minute Colbert comes back and bombard Shieffield and saves them all with that giant airship.
Louise confronts Henrietta, slaps her, then tells the queen if she wants to go after her familiar then she better be prepared to fight for him.
Vol10:
Henrietta tours the new airship and sees if Colbert can make anymore. Due to the ship being partly made by Germanians Tristain has no hold over the ship. Siesta finds out Henrietta is attracted to Saito from her observations, and worries neither she or Louise can match the queen.
Saito and others found Tabitha was in trouble, and decides to help her. The fight with Vitartial was a one-sided curbstomp, the elf managing to defeating them all using Earth magic, breaking more than a few bones in the process. Louise only won because of dispel, and Vitartial playing it safe and retreats for the moment.
Vol11:
Tabitha and everyone gets out of Gallia alive. Karin the Heavy Wind almost kills Saito and Louise, but Dispel manages to stop her long enough for Henrietta to interject. Derflinger can't stop Karin's vacuum blades.
Tabitha offers to teach Saito how to read. Louise finds out, and after Saito messes things up (again) tries to cast explosion but fails, being out of willpower.
Henrietta meets Vittorio, and is convinced by his zeal to stop Joseph from getting his hands on the Void. She sends Saito and company to pick up Tiffania, saying even having to house the orphans would be alright.
The prototype of Jormundgandr (sp?) is completed by Shieffield, with capabilties far beyond comventional golems.
Saito finds Foquet is with Tifa, and Saito instantly attacks. Foquet leaves, after hearing Tifa would be cared for by Saito and others and Foquet herself cannot send money anymore.
Louise found out Saito had cried and missed his homeland while away from Louise from Cattleya's letter, and had Tifa to erase the familiar bindings that messes with the mind. The runes are still there, but the forced compulsion of serving the summoner (and the forced-shaping of personality - which explains Saito's aggressiveness against Foquet) is no longer there. Saito is left behind with Tabitha to recover while the rest moves back to Tristain.
Shieffield attacks Louise and company, which Saito comes back to save Louise, saying he is only there to help his friends and not there for a loli who never appreciates him and yet still expects to be loved.
Saito is on the verge of being defeated, and Louise is still out of willpower. Tabitha kisses Saito (and suggests they 'continue what they were doing before') to force Louise to get angry and to unleash Explosion, which destroys the Jormundgandr. After Saito and others leave Shieffield comes back to picks up the pieces and says this can still be improved.
Louise uses the excuse the master-familiar bind is forcing to love Saito in order to use spells and starts making out with him on the way back to Tristain.
Vol12: Fillers. Contains the Love Poition incident, how Tifa fits into the Academy and the Undine Knight's 'mission' to peek at the Girls' baths.
Vol13: (things start heating up from here on)
Saito and others are summoned to Romalia by Henrietta, to help Vittorio plan against Joseph. At their arrival Julio sets up a test for them to fight against the Church Knights, which ends up with the Undine Knight's win solely because their melee combat is superior thanks to training by Gandalfr.
Saito was shown Romalia's armory of Earth Weaponry, and was told why Gandalfr exists. Gandalfr holds the Sword in the left hand, and the Spear in the right. The sword is a defensive weapon, while the Spear 6,000 years ago was the long distance attack weapon. As time improves the range of weapons increased, from crossbows to Earth's guns, and along with it the Gandalfr's reach also increased. Gandalfr, in addition to be called the 'Left hand of God', is also called the 'Shield of God'.
Julio as Windalfr is revealed here.
Louise, Henrietta, and Tifa was shown Vittorio's powers as a Void User as he gained a new spell from the Prayer Book. He then opens the World's Gate (Medium class, upper tier) to Saito's world, possibly at Tokyo with all its skyscrapers.
Colbert got the laptop Saito gave him working, and Saito tried to go on the net on the off chance it works. The brief connection from the World's Gate shows Saito his mother tried to contact him by using email many times per day, and he breaks down.
Vittorio told Louise there's no shame in wanting Saito to stay with her, and manipulates her into making him stay due to her lvoe and he can saves countless others that way.
Louise saw Saito broke down, and Colbert told her the reason. Saito once told Louise he was a orphan to avoid Louise feeling bad for ripping him away from his old life, and this revelation makes Louise decides on accepting the deal offered by Vittorio - Serve the Church in exchange for Saito to go back to Earth.
Louise forced Saito to go on a date with her, and smiled the whole day. At the end she told him she's sending him back, and she just smiled enough to last her the entire life so she'll never smile again. The drug in Saito's drink knocks him out.
Vol14:
A entire order of knights rebel against Joseph. Due to 'Haste' (see ZnT Wiki for a list of Void Spells) Joseph escapes from his palace and then brings the whole place down using 'Explosion' to destroy the foundations at its weakest points, killing over 80 rebel mages and unknown number of staff.
Louise can't handle the pain of losing Saito, and asks Tifa to erase all memory she has of him.
Vittorio is holding his anniversary of ascending the throne at a border city near Gallia to provoke Joseph into attacking. Henrietta is appalled by the gamble and sacrfice of human life, and decides to start planning against him. Joseph attacks with a small army of Jormundgandrs. The cannons on tortoises' back does nothing against them.
Saito ends up in a Vision of the past, meeting Sasha and Brimir. (This is where most of the info on 6,000 years ago is obtained)
Saito wakes up, and sees a gateway back to his house and sees his mother staring at the green portal. At the same time his familiar bond is showing Louise being beaten back by the Jormundgandrs, their new armour and enhanced counter magic redering Explosion useless. Saito decides to stay and help Louise after inner conflict, then he realised if he had chosen otherwise he would have been shot to death and have his corpse sent back. Julio declared their fate as Void Familiars can't be escaped that easily.
The Tiger Tank had enough force behind the attack to pierce through the counter magic and the armour (if you need the calculations tell me, its here in the novel), and the Jormundgandrs was wiped out after Shieffield stubbornly decided to kill Saito.
Saito kisses Louise to restore her memory after the battle finishes, and the memory flows back. Although this lead to his sexual fantasies from being revealed to Louise as well and he was beaten up.
Vol15:
Invasion of Gallia as part of the Holy War. The existence of Firestone 'nukes' is revealed. (See Unfamiliar Thread about 1-2 weeks ago for a discussion on this)
Tabitha is fooled into supporting the war against Gallia after a morphing spell fooled her into believing a agent of Vittorio was Saito and used her love on him as leverage.
Henrietta offers Joseph a deal - an alliance. Eliminate Vittorio and he can have Helkeginia, on the condition he break all ties with the elves. She rather have a power-hungry monarch around than having the entire continent being destroyed in a futile war against the elves. Joseph joked by asking Henrietta to become his bride, and Henrietta agreed if that's what it takes. It turns out Joseph wants to burn the world and look upon hell, so he's not interested in the deal - not to mention he might get poisoned by Henrietta in the future. Joseph states if all he wanted was power, than he would've accepted the deal, it was THAT good.
Thanks to Tabitha's involvement, Gallian forces deserted en masse and lay seige on the capital. Joseph used the Firestone nukes to burn away the collective air fleets in minutes. The forces of 150,000 attacking Gallia depends solely on the outcome of a duel between Void Users.
Saito and company used Sylphid to attack Joseph on his aircraft. Water/Earth aligned gargoyles attacked them, which regenerates if damaged. Saito solved the problem by shooting Sheffield, wounding her in the shoulder.
Saito fights against Joseph, who delivers a Hannibal Lecture. Due to 'Haste', not even Gandalfr's speed can match Joseph. Joseph stabs Saito with a poisoned dagger, and is on the verge of destroying the enemies with his final Firestone before Vittorio intervened.
'Record', Vittorio's spell, allows memories to be shown, and the pope used the Earth Ruby as the catalyst into showing the events of the past. Joseph found out his own brother isn't as perfect as he thought and finally felt emotions again.
After Joseph surrendered, everyone is arguing on whether to have Tabitha execute Joseph. Saito told them all to shut up while his healing, and let Tabitha decide herself. Sheffield finally gave up on Joseph ever loving her and decides to end this herself by stabbing Joseph with the poisoned dagger, and told them all to leave. As they left Sheffield manipulated their aircraft up high and detonated the final Firestone, burning the two of them into ashes.
Tabitha is crown monarch of Gallia, and Saito plus others are happy that since 1 set of Void User + familiar is dead the 4 sets are not complete, so no Holy Crusade in their generation.
Tabitha figured out she was duped by a fake using the 'Skinri' spell pretending to be Saito - due to the discrepancy of telling her to be proactive and seize the throne versus giving her the choice to end it all. Tabitha vowed to strike back at Romalia for their actions.
Vol16:
War is over, and peaceful life ensues. Saito is bestowed land due to his accomplishments. Louise is starting to doubt is she is worthy of him and his accomplishments.
Henrietta is wavering over her feelings towards Saito, having been saved by him yet again. Henrietta's mother and Cardinal Mazarin urges Henrietta to marry already for the sake of political balance, as her reforms is starting to displease the various nobles.
The various nobles of the conservative faction decides to hire assassins to kill Saito, to show commoners not to get above their station and to warn Henrietta not to upset the status quo. Outright rebellion is out of the question for them, as they still are loyal to the Royalty.
Saito wanders around his new residence, and found a basement. He found a Void Portal which leads to Henrietta's bed chambers., hidden in a secret compartment to avoid detect magic discovering it. It turns out Saito's mansion used to be used by previous monarchs to meet their lovers without discovery, but Henrietta didn't know that.
The 2 of them talked about the political marriage, which Saito said if she doesn't want to marry she shouldn't have to. Then Henrietta admitted she still has feelings for Saito.
Louise saw the whole thing, and while those two didn't do anything their chemistry is far better than between Louise's own with Saito. Louise was heartbroken and decided to run away, since she thinks she's no longer worthy of Saito.
Saito found Louise ran away, and chased after her. The assassins (the Elemental Siblings, artificially-enhanced mages) went after Saito on his way tracking down Louise. Two of them was sent while the other two stayed back to handle negotiations. Saito fought one of them, was defeated and Derflinger was shattered. Before the final blow the assassins stopped, as negotiations has fell through.
Vol17:
Saito frantically looks for Louise. Karin is pissed about his affair (don't know who it was with though). Colbert and Kirche is suspicious that Henrietta is the cause, but decides to not dig any further due to political implications.
Louise ends up meeting one of the Elemental Siblings, the sole female of the group and the 'puppeteer'. She asked her brothers to give her the location to a monastery where those who want to can 'disappear' and start anew. Louise took the chance, went to the monastery and met Yosette.
Saito met another one of the assassins. Without Derflinger, the match was a draw and the assassin escapes.
Yosette, Tabitha's twin sister, decides to leave with Julio. Louise found Yosette is Gallia's successor to the Void and decides to go back and tell everyone, despite her decision to stay away. Either way if she stays here the Void would vanish as well, but she decides to go back and help - she doesn't want to stay in a monastery all her life.
Yosette was sent away due to the tradition of 'two staves, one crown', and one of the twins must die at birth to prevent succession troubles. Yosette was used to replace Tabitha as she was impeding Romalia's plans, and Tabitha's mother was blackmailed into cooperating.
Saito ends up fighting the 2nd assassin he fought earlier. Saito ended up had a price of 140,000 gold coins paid for his elimination, the best job the Elemental Siblings ever had. They fought, Saito was defeated. Louise came back and saved his life, and decides she loved him too much to separate from him.
Vol18:
The Reveal: the Windstone Threat will destroy Helkeginia if left alone, and all nations grudgingly agreed to the Holy Crusade as Vittorio said it's the only way to stop the disaster. (The Pope lied, as later event shows).
The Windstone Threat is that there's a vast untapped reservoir of Windstones under the continent, and will eventually reach saturation point the land will split into pieces, float up like Albion and crash down again. Over half the continent will be affected.
Henrietta saw Louise and Saito's reunion, and decided to not get in their way anymore (no clue if this is permanent).
Wardes and Foquet are working together, and they've pieced together the Windstone threat from Wardes' mother's notes, and stealing the Romalian library's books.
After all nations agreed to the Crusade, Tabitha was allowed to be released, and she went back woth Saito and Louise. Eleanor, as a researcher, verified the Windstone threat and reported to Henrietta. Eleanor then decided to stay at Saito's place to keep a eye on him, after Louise declared he had forgiven him and was willing to give up the Valliere name if necessary to be with him.
Vitartial persuaded the Elven Senate to send a strike team to capture Saito, to prevent the Void's Rebirth. Lead by Eli, the fiancee to Vitartial's niece. Vitartial's Neice, 'Rukashana' (sp?) tagged along to find out more about the humans as her area of study. They are en route to Saito's mansion, having taken the longer route via land rather than by sea since Rukashana didn't feel like travel by sea, saying it's too monotonous.
