It's not that I hate the show, it's that I'm severely disappointed by it.

I don't want a concert scene at the end of the show, that isn't going to do shit for me. I have no faith in KyoAni. They'll give me 10 seconds of them playing instruments and pan over to the grass growing in the school grounds or the empty hallways or some other random backdrop I don't care about.

You know why episode 10 was even passable? Because of that minute long sequence between Yui and Aszua where they practiced their music together. Real common ground, the basis of the show that gives it a unique setting / perspective in comparison to the other slice of shows out there.

Instead of getting the usual otaku group AND people who can actually relate to what's being shown in the show (the music) it panders completely to the otaku and just barely touches on the latter.

Yeah, if you want to sink or swim, that's the better option I guess. Run Mio into the ground as the moe prostitute, overuse the same gags, and keep the show as a passable, easily forgettable, entry into the genre.

Just stop with the random cock teases. If there is some mind blowing last episode performance I'm going to end up rounding up all the actual musical bits in the show and put it into youtube in two portions just so I can redirect people to it to save them time in case they end up in the same boat as myself and a few others did.

Although I enjoyed this episode, it's a rehash of Episode 4 all over again... which disappointed me a bit... but I would rather have them atleast practice a bit more... it's less than last time... but not a bad episode, but it disappointed me a bit.

Why would anyone think that those girls would act differently? A year of bad habits won't change overnight.

If anything, this ep. shows Azusa coming to terms with what the group actually is about imo unlike certain members here.

Hmm... This could have been your regular old average episode (6/10). However, recycling old ideas isn't a good thing, and I really could've watched just one of the beach episodes to get their message (If there really is one in the first place). So this episode gets a 4.5/10 and rounds up to a below average score of 5/10.

So lets see.... What was wrong? Lets beat the dead horse some more shall we?
  • 2nd beach episode, structured in the same exact sequence of events literally
  • Trying to force upon supposed "character development" onto the viewer
  • We didn't learn anything new about the characters, the band, or the show in general.
  • Skipping the practice session? My, my... Looks like I can see where KyoAni's priorities are in this show... Cash cow anybody?
  • Woah, there are only 2 more episodes left and we've barely moved foward in this show since episode 2?
  • Gags that are just not funny... Big hands? Why is this funny? Moe blob abuse...
  • Yui's sister is acting more dim witted than usual, I already have all I can handle from the rest of this cast...
  • Stop taking Haruhi's budget.

Well... Azusa brought false hope to the table. Lets just get this trash series out of the way now and make room for Haruhi-Sama.

The big hands gag appeared under a different context in the manga.

Why big hands are funny.

Still, Reckoner and the other so-called "haters" nailed the main problem: the gags feel old.

Well at least it's not on the Haruhi boards. Imagine the hateful backlash I'd get there if I stated out loud that "Haruhi isn't teh best anime evarz" and backed it up with a well thought of argument.

That said, I'd give this a 6 easy.

I just read most of the manga up until Episode 11. in the Anime it gives the impression that they are doing some practicing. In the manga they hardly ever play as a group, mostly practicing a lone. You really can't change that fact, without making the anime be something different from the Manga. I think people are use to the Formula that most anime fall under. They have added a lot to the Cannon that is not in the Manga, while maintaining what the "Manga" delivered. The truth is thier really is not that much material to work with. 90% of the Manga is used and about 40% new material. The writers had to be careful on adding the new stuff while sticking to the original intent of the manga artist. They also have to stay true to what is expected by the informed Fans. It's to early for a rewrite of a relatively fresh Manga.

It's feels like a "déjà vu" episode, BUT this episode is as good and as funny as the last ones, while showing us how much progress the girl have made (and how close they really are); also we got to see more from Azusa, her warming up for her sempais and her judgement about her sempais does change a bit after the training. The training camp is actually longer than in the manga, Kyoani did a really nice job by adding the extra scenes in the anime, although Kyoani has split the meeting between Ui and Azusa into two: one before the training and one after the training (Azusa is then tanned); It's a nice touch that Ui didn't recognize Azusa at first, that was funny!

Furthermore, nice sound isolation, Mugi-chan; it's a shame we couldn't exactly hear their training, but I guess that we will hear/see the results of their training in a later episode.

Mugi is just so cute. I love how she has all this money but really doesn't show it in front of her friends. Especially that cruiseliner O_o, that was just hilarious.

Yeah, I keep finding myself thinking that it would be so nice if it actually worked this way. I don't know about all of you, but around here it seems like those with money spend it on trivial things and are generally stuck up individuals. You rarely find anyone using their money for the benefit of others (though sometimes I feel like Mugi is forced into those types of situations by the rest of the crew).

Overall I feel like episode 10 was an ok episode, but nothing to get overly excited about it. Here's to hoping that we get a performance episode soon.

Genre aside, that's pretty much what is happening with Guin Saga. At first it appeared refreshing, because it is "rare" to see old school western-like fantasy in anime, then the novelty wore off. People who liked it stuck around (I did) and people who did not like it so much just jumped where it is greener. At places, Guin Saga suffered from iffy direction (Star Crossed blog explains a bit about it) and quality goof-ups, while still delivering good characterization, telling enough background to award people to watch and appetize them for more. What's keeping fans watching Guin Saga is

1. The material, they are actually covering beyond the translated novels so we will know what we are missing out.
2. What is appealing about the genre. It's one of the rare fantasy anime free from what we usually see (idiot/emo hero, clothes that are too cool for its time period, spell porn).

Guin Saga fans are aware that it could have been done better, it deserved better but we still keep watching it because the whole is all more compelling.

The thing is, we are now used to Guin Saga convention and formula. One side sees something worth watching. The other side question what fans find so appealing about what appears as nothing but a pile of cliche and tropes.

I don't know about K-On! fans. Yes, I want to hear from a fan what is keeping him/her watching the series.

I agree, even though the money heavily influences the way others think of Mugi; she still remains humble and kind. Mugi's family imposes money on her and yet she has the personality where she loves to enjoy the simpler things in life rather than some exotic, exquisite environment.

I've known a few millionaires one of whom is still one of my best friends and there some of the nicest people I've met, they've never bought us things but honnestly that would be a pretty crappy basis for a friendship because they'd either be buying it or we were using them for their money.

With Mugi it seem to be either a transfere of gifts (all the sweets), something the groups needs to survive (Yui's guitar/tea sets), or something she wants to do (summer trips).

What I'm wondering about, is just where Mio had planned for them to go originally before they asked Mugi if she had a villa due to Yui's money problems.

Another Summer Trip Episode,
but I still love it.

I'm quite impressed by Mugi's way of living.
Do simple things (But the sand castle excluded, lol),
live a simple life with some good friends,
and most of all, she IS VERY CUTE when in anger...

I just wonder that the only difference between Mio and Azu-nyan is... erm... size???

2 things: the songs, and the hope of a live version of "Don't Say Lazy" at the finale concert.

I almost see it as some kind of rule in anime. The rich girl is depicted as the most considerate, kindest type person you ever would want to meet, not the spoiled brat stereotype. I wonder if most wealthy Japanese schoolgirls are?

I'll base that on
the shows I've seen:

Sailor Moon: Ami Mizuno
MK RayEarth: Fuu Houji
Card Captor Sakura: Tomoe Daidoji
Nanoha:Suzuka
Lucky Star:Miyuki Takara

Mugi is one of my favorites, too.
