though will it be enough EDIT: on second thought Jigoku hen and Kumo no Ito are short stories they might be able to put everything in a single episode. Last edited by CHRONICLE_KEY; 2009-09-23 at 19:12. |

Oh wow, I'm really excited about this actually. No Longer Human and Kokoro are favourites of mine. It looks interesting. But I really hope they don't screw it up.
What puzzles me however is why Kokoro only has 2 episodes. Its about the same length of No Longer Human really.

Now that I see the list of works for this series, I am very excited for this show. Akutagawa was a solid author, and Kokoro is one of the best Japanese novels ever written. I'm a little surprised Kokoro is only two episodes in length. It would make more sense for it to be three, since the book is split into three segments. It's not a particularly long book, but I'm not sure if it will feel rushed with only the two episodes.

Waaaah!!! I can't find raw of the first episode and I don't even know if anyone's subbing it ;_; I hope a group will pick it up~
Anyway, there are already screenshots and a plot overview for episode 2! I just updated this post with them~

Despite being a complete newbie to traditional Japanese literature (inc. Dazai's works of course), I have watched the first episode and am very satisfied with it.
This series can easily be one of the top shows of the season in terms of presentation and depth of story. But too bad that even the raw-cappers are not remotely interested in it, let alone the fansubbers and the general anime community. Sometimes it just makes me sick to see some self-acclaimed fans whining all day about how "bad" anime has fallen to due to the influence of moe, while turning a blind eye to other quality offerings in the current anime lineup.

You were able to watch it? Lucky~
I was awake when it aired, but thought of waiting for the raw because live streaming is slow to my PC =_= I now regret not doing so . . . drats. It's sad that those who get the raw (if ever there will be) weren't that fast on this one like with many other shows this season. *so sad*

I am actually very interested in the comments on the series by readers of the novel. The story is, after all, vastly different from anything we have experienced from the anime genre before. I suppose some kind of loss in "translation" is unavoidable given the uniqueness and depth of the original work. P.S. to sapphire-pyro: Check your PM box.

Yeah.
Next time, if time permits me, I'll be watching it live streaming. Unless the raw providers will suddenly be on time next episode. Seeing this neglected is too sad. Ah, I'm reading "Kokoro" right now. I'll be sharing my impressions on it when I'm done. @ Doraneko: Seen it. Thanks so much!

The first episode was good, but its significance will be lost to most people; eg. those which haven't read the book. In terms of execution I think its good, but I disagree with some of the director's interpretations.
However and art and animation is brilliant and I'm eager for more. Hopefully some group WILL sub this series.
