The All Stars New Stage 3 movie is floating around right now, and I got a chance to see it.

First of all, IMO it is the only decent of the three of the sub-series of the movies. The other two dragged on for too long and also useless characters (Echo, I'm looking at you).
Without spoilering the paper-thin plot, it can be considered as a mix between All Stars DX3 and DX2, but with a lot of action scenes, especially in the latter half (though a lot of the attacks of other cures use stock footage).
HappinessCharge kind of fits in the story (which is, as you could expect, serviceable at best), despite some issues. For example, it looks like it was dubbed earlier in the production of the series, so Hime's VA sometimes uses a tone that is completely out of her character.
Most of the characters are voiced, which surely is better than the horrible work for the previous two movies. Not all the characters, though: some are silent (I suppose for commitments more than money, considering most are present).
As shown in the bits aired as OP during the movie run, a certain Cure appears, but

Aside the recycled footage, at least it's entertaining. I wonder if it's really the "final" one or Toei will come up with some other ridicolous names...

Hmm ... continued rumblings and murmurings of relationships growing up and beginning to pop up between amongst the PreCure.

But I was also kinda surprised to hear the General mentioning that he had also been hurt in some kind of relationship. It reminded me of the Generals from HeartCatch PreCure for some reason....

Anyway, looks like Hime is beginning to grow up emotionally.... Will be interesting to see where things go from here.

Oh yes - the ep needed more Cure Honey.

Hime and Seiji? You think? Definitely Hime for Seiji. But yes - Hime's newfound feelings look like they are definitely going to continue burbling up.

On the other hand though, it is interesting that Hime powered up as a result of her newly found feelings as well - very PreCure'ish ... but I wonder what Blue will think of it all?

i think that even after this love arc will end hime feelings for seiji will not end but it just my guess

So we're assembling some interesting love polyhedrons here. Blue loves/loved Mirage. Megumi loves Blue. Seiji loves Megumi. Hime loves Seiji.

Where's my yuri-flavoring between the girls?! All these heterosexual relationships are unacceptable!

Wow...it felt like that ep dropped a lot of interesting tidbits about the PreCure proper, but I must admit that it was interesting to see how Hime's mini-crushing on Seiji was dealt with - i.e. that it was just a different sort of creature than what she thought it was. I kinda did not expect it to be handled so...I dunno...level-headedly, I guess?

We also found out more about Cure Honey, though - she had an unrequited love or something similar in the past, and continues to show herself as both perceptive, mature and well-rounded, quietly supporting everyone in the background.

I was totally surprised to have Seiji be the one who got nabbed for Terribadnification. I wonder how Namekeldar could tell that Megumi was the one he loved? Some sort of "link" with the Terribad and the host/source, maybe?

We also got a new ED finally (mid season and for the par, I guess) as well as new mid ep intermission snippets and pics shown when the sponsers are getting recognition. The ED did not do much for me but I guess I liked it a bit more than the first one for the season. No surprise though, as I generally find myself liking PreCure OPs far more % wise than the EDs.

Oh yes! It was nice to see Cure Rosetta again in the pre-OP 10 year anniversary thank you message! She is another of those "yellow PreCures" I am quite fond of.

Ep 28!

Cure Honey saves the Eiffel Tower along with the entire world at Blue's request (since she is the most powerful of them all and the secret support force of the Happiness Charge team), and Cure Marine is her happy spazzy self in greeting everyone with the 10 year anniversary! What a great way to start the ep. ^^

I am still a little weirded out by the idea of international PreCure groups, but that is my stumbling block, I guess.

We get a new General of sorts, Madame Momere, and the two Hawaii PreCure - Cure Sunset and Cure Wave (with their own transformation sequences too, which were rather nice, I thought) - and Cure Honey undermines their quarreling with each other with her friendliness and sweet disposition, reminding them of the things that make PreCure what they are. Yup - Cure Honey is the greatest as far as I am concerned.

Of course the HappinessCharge PreCure help out the Aloha PreCure in their fight to take back Hawaii from Madame Momere (Cure Lovely pulls out her Cherry Flamenco move and Cure Princess pulls out her infamous Hula Dance attack, appropriately, while Fortune takes out a Terribad). Then Cure Honey heals the Aloha PreCure and inspires them to take out the remaining Terribad. Good standard PreCure fare.

But then we get a teeny hint of a future upgrade option called "Shining Make Dresser", which reminds me of the Silhouette box from HeartCatch for some reason, making it's appearance in the next ep. I wonder if the white outfits and gauzy wings will be the eventual level upped transformation?

After Suite as my first Precure show and handful episodes of Smile, I finally forced myself to try to watch Precure again with Happiness Charge as it's the anniversary series, just because I like the previous TOEI's two anniversary shows (Decade and Gokaiger) and because I want to see Cure Beat cameo

And when Beat finally made it, the story gets interesting enough with all these love triangles to make me watch it, though ep 27 was a let down because I thought they would make Hime's crush on Seiji as a more important setup for next arc. Heck, I thought Phantom was originally a man who (has unrequited) love Queen Mirage (when she was still normal girl/shrine maiden) but then fell into the dark side along with Mirage when Mirage was "betrayed" by Blue; and when Seiji knew Megumi has a crush on Blue I thought Seiji will become (temporary) antagonist as well. Looks like I was way overthinking

But despite the so far so-so story and QUALITY animation, I still somehow enjoy the show (Lovely Beam is one of the reason lol). Too bad the new ED song isn't as catchy as the old Precure Memory

As for the All Stare New Stage 3 movie, it's also quite enjoyable despite Siren didn't talk and as Beat she also didn't have action scene (did she?)

Though the ED song was awesome. I always love when the seiyuu(s) sing their version of the initial OP or ED song. But with that, and the fact that days later Showa vs Heisei Kamen Rider DVD/BR movie released, I wonder why Japanese fans hasn't made the MMD version of Heisei Rider's Precure Memory like on New Stage 3 ending yet, with Decade and Diend replacing Lovely and Princess respectively, and of course Kuuga-Kiva Riders replacing Max Heart-Dokidoki Precures

The story is at least better than Smile (it had a story?), but you need to like Hime, since she's a strange exception where she actually gets as much, if not more development than the pink cure, which is actually a pretty good change of pace.

The animation really hasn't been that bad, outside of a few episodes that were clearly rushed. You have to at least appreciate the fight scenes and I especially commend them for giving Seiji attention in this regard, even if the one big fight scene he had really screwed around with his proportions.

I have to wonder if Megumi is really entirely oblivious to Seiji's feelings? I'm also thinking whether the show will ever focus on Yuuko or Iona in this regard. And yes, HimexSeiji episode next week! I am strangely quite supportive of this ship (perhaps because the show's really pushing this one), so looking forward to the next episode.
