As I understand it, the anime has only gone through volume 2. There will be an OVA coming out at some point, but I don't know when it will be coming out, and I don't know what time period within the novels it will be set at.

They haven't used any original material thus far, so I don't see why they would feel like starting now. Also, I understand the OVA is timed to release with one of the novels, so I would think that would be even more reason to keep it within the novel continuity.

...Erm yeah, you don't need to be using original material in the Anime to decide to use original material in an OVA.

I can name you one reason why they would feel like starting now- It's an OVA; it's a oneshot, single episode, probably used for fanservice and has no plot relevance.
