- "Sphere" Michael Crichton
- "The Forever War" Joe Haldeman - "The Quantum Thief" Hannu Rajaniemi - "Out of the Silent Planet" C.S. Lewis - Random stuff It's quite easy to get me stuff. "Here, this is a list of 30 books. Pick a few, thanks!". More advanced stuff like tech I get myself, and gift cards for clothes are more fun than plain money.

Well, I'm going to end up busting my ass with my "presents" keeping us fed and watered over the year by fixing broken smartphones and computers. With the new gear I can do other fun things like build mint-tin headphone amps to make even more money.
My worse half takes care of the rent and I'm responsible for keeping us from starving to death.

Money's tight here as people who watch world news may know but luckly me and my family are doing decently so Christmas wasn't all that bad. My grandpa gave me 100€ and my grandma 50€, my parents a couple of sweaters and my sister a box of chocolates.
With that I ended up getting a new 500gb hdd for the PS3 (to use for all the games in PS+) and went "wild" yesterday ordering a couple of movies off Amazon (Evangelion 1.11/2.22 and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, all Blu-Ray). Luckly I'm at a stage in my life where I've got a decent paying job and can afford to spoil myself a bit from time to time but sadly that isn't the norm (and I know quite a few examples close to home :-/ ).

What can I say? That sounds awfully neat ..
So in the vein of "presents for meself" I'm actually looking up where in the world I can pay to ride a tank and shoot the main canon to see if I can fit it in anywhere .. My friend, when he went to Italy, actually got to fire a medieval trebuchet! He said it was quite the experience! And I know in Thailand or some parts of SE Asia you can go out and fire RPGs and the like .. EDIT: Didn't realize we had gotten to page 3 already and I had missed a whole page of comments .. This time of year (and the previous comments) makes me think of my late grandma, she would always give me money and practically raised me, due to two working stiff parents. She was the only grandparent I had ever known as the others passed away before I was born and she passed away when I was .. 8/9? So alongside any other presents I might buy for myself in the days, weeks and months to come .. I'm going to make sure I buy a plane ticket home, maybe during Chinese New Year, to spend some time with family.
