The trailer said that ZUN is doing something directly with Sony, but we don't know what game it is or if it even has anything to do with Touhou. ZUN could just make an original IP game for Sony and it would make more sense.

I just hope ZUN doesn't turn Touhou into a westernized mess... Touhou 14 was especially disappointing, with many of the new characters being western fantasy tropes...

I'm not saying that the presence of western elements automatically makes a game bad. For example, they worked just fine in 06, which by the way I consider to be the best Touhou game, even after all these years. I'm just afraid that if ZUN panders too much to the tastes of the western fans, Touhou might become something else than Touhou. Well, since 14 is the first game released in the west, I guess it makes sense that ZUN would want it to be more western-friendly, but still...

You've got a mermaid, a werewolf, a dullahan (= rokuroubi)... And there's also Seija, who's pretty much the stereotypical western villain that's evil for the sake of being evil.

Also, when I said that they are tropes I meant it literally, in the sense that the trope is the major, if not the only defining trait that these characters have. Wakasagihime is a mermaid... and just that. Kagerou is a werewolf... and just that. And so on. Can't help but be disappointed.

In a game that has around 150+ characters, I wouldn't be worried about Touhou turning into a 'westernized mess' because of a handful characters with western influence.

The two defining characters in modern Touhou are a Shrine Maiden and a Western Witch. There is a reason it is these two who are chosen to represent the game as a whole. Marisa didn't have to be there, but she is. Too late to change that now.

Touhou 15 ~ Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom Announced.

Trial version will be released at next Reitaisai (May 10th).

Playable characters confirmed are Reimu, Marisa, Sanae and Reisen.

The Lunarian cast stopped being relevant many many games ago, so I'm really glad that ZUN is including Reisen this time. And the new portraits look cute.

The colors outside the play area look kind of weird, but I guess weirdness will be a theme in this game, including the 'innovative gameplay' that ZUN is currently working on. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, I'm definitely looking forward to see what ZUN will come up with this time (just don't use control reverse/screen reverse/hitbox enlargement gimmicks like in Touhou 14, those were awful).

To be honest, I was expecting a Phantasmagoria-like game, but I guess ZUN is saving it for Touhou 16. I mean, first we had Youmu and Yuyuko (reference to 07), then Sakuya (reference to 06), and now Reisen (reference to 08). So I guess it makes sense that the next game would be related to 09. Though you never know with ZUN...

...Ironically, I was disappointed by Touhou 13 too, and that was a full-fledged Eastern game.

Here's hoping that the new game will renew my enjoyment of Touhou.

Seems like vita only title. Also does it look like they're receiving budget from sony? full voice and those animations look good
