lol I'd like to borrow the name 'Nagisa'.... I wanna look at in anime, manga and games... but I only found the Florian sisters acceptable (Kyrie is definitely a plenty), Lelouch, Karen, C.C. (not really acceptable... maybe I should put it as the middle name, no one would suspect XD)... yeah, I wonder what names would be uncommon... Kanata rolls off pretty well... or Konata... but that's too unique XD)

Kana maybe? Tomoe is also very simple and rolls off the tongue well.

Probably! I'd love to name my girl (if I ever had one) something Japanese. I really mean it when I say that Japanese names are attractive.

Of course, I'm certainly not brave enough to go through with it; my family would disown me.

I actually don't see a problem with this. If you like the name itself enough , then by all means do so.

Well at least you guys have that chance. Around here you can only name children with names officially in the registry unless you can prove that one of the parents is of foreign descent (aka either one of the parents or the grandparents of the child was born outside the country).

You want to name your kid after a character that suffered always from ill-health and did not manage to live past 20

Do you by any chance live in New Zealand?

Lol.

Just joking of course. I know you're in Portugal.

Go for it! If she really hates it she can just say so and change it/ask people to refer to her by her middle name. Nagisa doesn't really sound that weird
to me at least.

Come to think of it, an acquaintance of mine had a daughter last month, and I only heard from another friend only today.

Her husband's surname is Lim. Guess what they named their daughter?

Spoiler for spoiler:

I only wish and pray that there she enters a singing contest in which she is crowned the queen.
After that you know what happens.

Though finding a lover with the name Hikaru Ichijou is like 1/1,000,000,000. Because THAT is a really weird name IMO.

These two are perfectly normal people living together (i.e non-otaku). I don't know who gave them the idea of naming their daughter that - nonetheless an interesting coincidence.

That name is really ancient....27 years had passed since that anime aired!

Well, since the years in that story are largely behind us, I believe we'll all be safe from that particular annihilation.

Oh, wait... you don't happen to have any friends or acquaintances with the last name Lee, do you?

Engineering name fun ... I have a good friend (female Chinese engineer .... and damn pretty) named Y** L** L** (anglicized anyway, duh), she'd sign her name YL**2 (YLsquared).

She married a Scotsman named Smith and now signs her name YL**2 (S).
(YLsquared,Stransform .... a Laplace transformation used in engineering).

One of my favorite geeks... she'd wander into my cube and say "I feel Chinese today" when she'd want us to go eat for lunch.
