I'd rather drink sodium hydroxide than pay for the DVD. Seriously, what the hell. Do they want people to buy it or not?

Going by Oricon DVD sales rankings for the first day of release in Japan, the limited edition of Kara no Kyoukai Vol. 1 will easily be the bestselling animation DVD by far in Japan for the week.

The first chapter is the worst of the seven followed by chapter six.
I thought ch.2 was the worst, of course going by the novel.

5 > 3 >>>> 6 > 7 > 1 > 4 > 2

But I think the anime did so much better than the novel for ch.1...

Her name's Shiki. You'd think that after Tohno Shiki, Nanaya Shiki, Tohno SHIKI, Shikiller(lol), Shiki(Kara) and SHIKI(kara) you'd get the message...

I have to say though, the beginning part was classic ufotable stuff. I was wondering when they're going to do that.

I guess Nasu likes the sound of the name? Mebbe he'll name his kids Shiki if his otaku ass ever gets married :P

That aside, I'm happily reading the Chinese translation of the novels now. Years of education in Mandarin, and the only things it's been good for are translated manga and hk action flicks. Feels a lot smoother than the stalled English translations, and the meanings and names carry over a lot better too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "shiki" means death. When I read the manga Tsukihime, in the part where Tohno Shiki killed Nero, he asked for Shiki's name.. And he was like, ".. oh i see, so you're my shiki" after hearing his name. By just looking at their abilities (Mystic Eyes of Death Perception), its as if they're death themselves.. =P

If the next movies keep on delivering like the first one I has just seen did, I can say I have finally seen an animated adaptation that did a Nasu's work the justice it deserves.

Indeed. It's such a shame it's taken this long for it to happen.

Who knows, we may even see ufotable remakes of Tsukihime or F/SN. We'll just have to wait and see.

Almost right, it can mean 'time/period of death', if it's written in kanji like this 死期
