Not to mention shonen anime are hardly best sellers when it comes to dvd/blu-ray, they're mostly used to advertise the manga. Kingdom is published in a seinen magazine, but the anime is definitely shonen material. |

But yeah, it needs to be in a seinen magazine with all the gore that's in it I wish the anime had the gore, a lot of the scenes feels lacking because of it. Like Rinko getting his tendons cut, but in actuality Shin cut off his fingers.

Been watching season 2 during my holiday, and it's ok, but the wooden battle animations are annoying the hell out of me, they're horrendous! And most of the time it's severely lacking the intensity of the manga. Still enjoying it so far, but it's still a bit lacking. Well, I guess it's similar to season 1 (been a while since I watched that one though).

I don't know if I qualify to answer your question, since I'm not a manga reader, but from what I heard in this thread, it is worth watching. The first 10-15 episodes of the first season, the CG is really bad. The rest is mostly sufficient to actually good. Some content from the manga is skipped, but for the most part, it is faithful. Blood and gore is greatly reduced in the anime compared to the manga.
As for own personal opinion, I thought this was one of the best shounen series running at that time. It is something I anticipate watching for every week. Everyone that I forced to watch it (it was really hard to get people to watch the bad CG at first) absolutely loved it.

Finally watched this series the other day, and loved it. Really not much to add to what's been said already, crossing my fingers that another season comes along (I trust there's no new info on that regard yet?)... I'll probably end up picking the manga at some point.

I re-read the 100 chapters of Kingdom, it was told that the former Shiyuu suddenly disappeared, forcing the clan to begin selcting a new successor. Do you think the manga will mention this part again in the future, like that former Shiyuu appearing as an enemy or a child of that former Shiyuu will appear?
