It's more like "Gattai is so fucked up" or "Fucking Gattai" or "Gattai, that's fuck shit" (if I'm not wrong)

Kuso kurae is just an expression, English equilibrant would be something like "screw this".
Just as you wouldn't take that literally as "having sex", you don't take this literally as "eat shit".
