Another vote for Hard Gay here but probably because I keep imagining Razor Ramon thrusting the screen using fansubbing as an excuse xD

Hikikomore- Although mispelled(or misromanized) it's hilarious because it's a Japanese term that applies to most AS user's.

Nigga- Ah man! Even as a young black man, this is still amusing.

We suck- Self-explanatory.

I remember there was a group that did Cooking Master Boy called Rapens (it was a typo, I believe). What one hit wonders.

Hikikomore brings more than the average hikikomori. Although the lack of a translator has us bringing less.

I think esoteric names like Shamisen or Nyoro~n (though I hate the group itself) are pretty clever.

No, it blows. Anything that's in Japanese, has Anime or Subs/Fansubs in the name sucks equally hard.

Yup. It's been that way forever.

That's a retarded judgment. But at the same time I can't tell if your being sarcastic. I guess I'm not used to stupidity.

I've been involved in the fansubbing community since late 2002 and I will tell you that the SHQ tag and use of 'subs', 'fansubs', or 'anime' in a group name is long outmoded. I don't care how witty or clever the name is, it doesn't matter. Fansubbing is no longer an under-the-radar activity that requires fansubbers to declare, "MY GROUP NAME REMINDS EVERYONE OF WHAT I DO!".

Groups that use old naming conventions are no better than those that still primarily use xvid or (gasp) divx5.

lol @ thread

Since L-E started in 2001, is Live-eviL Fansubs grandfathered in?

I'd imagine so considering that the group is culturally significant to us.

Heh, someone should start a board of elders or something that decides on "culturally significant" aspects of the fansubbing community and sends them a plaque or something.

It sucks that I really can't think of any other "Dawn of Digisubbing" group that's still around, let alone even remotely active.

And just how would anyone know what the hell you do without including it?

It doesn't matter how long you've been involved, if I had just used the name Saikyo people would be like "What the hell is Saikyo" when you see "Saikyo Subs" you can be like "Oh, okay, subs, something to do with subtitles"

And the names that don't include "subs/fansubs" just sound plain stupid.

Saikyo, the brackets do all the work.

[Shinsen] is the functional, yet non-redundant equivalent of [Shinsen-Subs] or [SHS]
