And now that it's officially out I can now congratulate you on that Chapter, pat myself on the back for being a pretty decent BETA () and breathe a sigh of relief that it's over. Now to touchup the Middle chapters. XD

And then once that's done, it'll be time for me to work on the saga of Lipan Squadron...

A quote at the beginning of the chapter sets the tone. It should be one understandable to all, without knowledge of source material of the quote. It should not require deep thought and massaging of concepts to make it fit.

The connection should not require hard thinking.

But as always, you obviously know better; you may do as you please. It is your fanfic, afterall.

The thing, though, is the quote on its own has nothing to do with the source material of the quote. If you just know a little bit about what happens in the fanfic and the character it revolves around, it's really easy to understand how it relates to Hisako Kanemoto talking about barriers which are invincible.

Thing is, on the face of it there is a jarring disconnect. Happy Barrier? Invincibility? In Alternative? It creates such a jarring feel. Now if you'd started with "Once more unto the breach", for example, that gives off a feel that is less jarring. As another example, one chapter of Tiberium Wars opens with a poem by Alan Seegar - "I have a rendezvous with Death, at some disputed barricade" - that perfectly captures the grim desperation of the Pentagon siege.

But you have your heart set on that quote, and you obviously wish to use it, no matter how jarring it may be.

You ask for my opinion and I have given it. What more do you want?

Hagoshod, your entire presence around these parts has for the most part been focused around showing myself and other posters how we are wrong and you know better. A jab it may be, but it is also the truth.

I just call it the way I see it.

Also, I realise that it may be difficult for you to do so, but I do wish you would not misrepresent me so. You were the one who started this whole tangent of Hagoshod Haet Thread, and I never claimed you were imagining things, or that you were deranged. I simply pointed out that I do not need to do anything of the sort, because you'll do a good enough job of things by yourself.

I do urge you to reread and comprehend what has been stated, though I fear this may be a futile endeavour, as you appear determined to find insult in all things.

Now, as for the quote you wish to use, my opinion, that you have sought, is that it does not work for that chapter, because it creates a jarring feel. It is akin to Thorin's company singing their song with a cheery beat and instruments: it clashes horribly with the mood that has been set.

However, you strongly desire to use that quote: at the end of the day it is your story, and as you obviously feel that you know your story better than I do (and this can be seen in your responses), then by all means, act as you please. You are writing for your gratification, not mine.

Finally read it. Man was it awesome! If Animesuki's reputation was still available, i would have rewarded you on a good work.

Spoiler for Chapter 5 Homefront:

Damm was that chapter intense! The US Forces bombarding the BETA to force them out of the Hive as a distraction to allow the Space Force to drop and dive into the Hive unopposed. Of course, the Hive Mind is no fool and has some BETA chasing after the Hive Divers. But the favorite highlight for me was the YF-23 piloted by Yuuya and Colonel Bishop! I can imagine it right now: A YF-23 armed with sword in one hand, a rifle with bayonet in the other, with all four of it's Mount Pylon armed with guns as the TSF dances around the BETA, killing them with speed and grace of a dancer as hundreds of BETA die from the "Black Widow's Dance".

With the current arc ending in the next chapter, my guess is by the time the Maryland Hive is neutralized, Yuuya will become famous as not only he went into a Hive and survived, he and the survivors will be called Heroes for being the first TSF pilots to successfully destroy a Hive without Nuclear/G Bombs. With his new reputation, Yuuya, "The Hero of Maryland", is gonna attract a lot of ladies who will either have a crush/admiration/smitten on him . I can see it now, not only will the ladies of Total Eclipse will fall for Yuuya, but also the Valkyries, the Euro Front girls, the ladies of Schwarzesmarken (if they are still active in this story) and Squad 207A! (Sorry Takeru lol . You know what? Just add that into the fanfic and we can all have a good laugh.)

And now i must wait for the next chapter of Comet.

Let's face it, AMT doesn't write happy joyful stories - there's going to be plenty of blood, sweat and tears.

I figure the Space Forces are going to take heavy losses, and Yuuya might well be the sole survivor of the 114th Orbital Regiment's HQ flight. Bishop is throwing up death flags being the beautiful badass busty ero-team mom of Comet, Alice is a young girl inside a BETA hive, Max is the BFF, and those tend to die first.

Hell, even the Infinities could buy it.

Sure, Yuuya will end up as a hero, but it won't be a completely happy hero. And instead of going to Alaska at the same rank, he's going to have to take a reduction back to 2LT - right after he got promoted.

...someone had better console him with the story of the Japanese Major who's a Sergeant in the UN forces.

...well, at least that Silver Star will come through for him. Oh wait - the Pentagon got G-bombed. Paperwork woulda been lost.

Also, now that it's officially out, I'm quite pleased to state that I've been helping AMT to BETA edit Comet, and the Prologue and Chapter 1 have been edited. Work is progressing on Chapters 2-4. 5 was edited by yours truly.

Idea of sorts that I had niggling in the back of my head. Will probably crosspost to Spacebattles once I get more secured.

I wake up, gazing at an unfamilliar ceiling, and realise that something is wrong.

My hands fumble for my glasses, and I blink in confusion as my fingers touch nothing but skin and eyes. Eyes that don't feel as worn out as they should. A face that's smoother than it ought to be.

I can see clearly. I have 20/20 vision. I can't remember the last time I had perfect eyesight... must have been somewhere around 1997, I think.

I get out of bed, and pause. This isn't my room. The walls are a different color. My desk and my beloved gaming rig isn't there. My rucksack is beside my bed, at least - got my battered 5-year-old laptop in it, as well as my iPad and my PSP, and my portable hard drives...

Yes, I think it does say something is off about me when I'm more concerned about my gear.

I take a look around the room that is most definitely not mine. Looks... cleaner and a bit nicer than my own room at home. About twice as big too. Seems like your typical eroge pratagonist room. I pace the room, eyes glancing over the books - lots of them in Japanese, and by their titles the usual mix of textbooks, manga, the occasional light novel. This doesn't make any sense at all.


I poke my head out the window, and Something cold settles in my stomach: across the road, there is the wreckage of a mecha - a Tactical Surface Fighter, my mind helpfully tells me - resting on the ruins of a house.

No.

NO.

My eyes rake over the Japanese books, and I feel a sense of rising panic as I suddenly realise that I can understand the kanji, as I dash to the bathroom and stare at the mirror.

I expect to see my face.

Instead, Shirogane Takeru's face stares right back at me.

I splash water on myself, carefully walk to the desk, and find a small box cutter, and bring it back to the sink. Carefully, methodically, I clean the blade with soap and water, dry it, and raise the blade above my left forearm.

If this is a hallucination, or some dream, I oughta wake about now.

"Here goes nothing," I say out loud - and I'm pretty sure I said that in English - and draw a line across my left arm, taking care to ensure that the cut is not too deep and not too long that I can't bandage it up with my rudimentary first aid skills.

"Oh, cock."

The there is pain that flares up - though odly muted somewhat; I guess Takeru's body has a higher pain threshold than my original body. The pain stings even more as I clean the smallish wound, and find some bandaids to clean it. I miss my mum's well-stocked first aid kid.

I hold on tomyself long enough to be sure the wound won't be fatal.

Then I scream to the high heavens. A wordless roar of pain, anguish, and fear. Great fear.

Eyes dry and hurting, throat raw from screaming, face sticky from dried tears, I drag myself to the bathroom and wash my face, and wonder:

Why am I in Shirogane Takeru's body?

Why am I here in Alternative?

How the fuck am I going to go home?

This is not going to end well.
