Keichi dies because of his level 5 sindrome anyway, as you said he can't survive after the horrible realization of all his friends dying.

Okay, this is basically the stuff I was told about this arc..

Keiichi was obviously never at the festival.. the others, excluding Satoko, figured what he did, and pretended he was at the festival to give him an alibi (I think something similar happens to Rena in arc 6, where there seems to be a second Rena running around, or so she hears). This is also the reason Rena tells him to get a receipt from Irie IIRC.

Teppei is not alive after we see Keiichi kill him. I believe that after what is shown in arc 6, it's highly possible Mion had the body moved.. which is why it dissapeared.

Satoko was definately at L5 of the syndrome, confirmed she has it in Kai really. That's what the syringes are for. L5 causes you to hallucinate, like Satoshi did when he saw his aunt everywhere even after killing her, despite Irie saying that the people weren't his aunt.

In the extra anime arc (the first one in the Kai anime), you see that Satoko survived falling from the bridge. Keiichi went through the same thing. It didn't kill him to fall from the bridge into the water, and he must've been found. Obviously there was no actual volcanic gas disaster, so he lived.

Well, Keiichi suffered from it in arc 1, so.. I'd say it's a safe bet he has it in arc 3, particularly since he seems to go to more insane assumptions ("they're all out to get me!") and decisions than I would think he normally would.
Not sure if Takano tried to run him over, though I also don't think he would've exaggerated anything she did or said in that scene. At that point in time, she's supposed to be 'dead', and Tomitake should be dead in her trunk or something.. so she's being generally suspicious in the first place.

After recalling arcs 1, 3, and 6, I have a different theory with regards to Takano Miyo.

Miyo and the Yamainu seem to pop up a lot when characters suspect something is wrong with the world: Keiichi in a supposed hit & run in Onikakushi-hen, Keiichi in a supposed hit & run in Tatarigoroshi-hen, and Rena when Okonogi(?) shows up at the school and later question Keiichi along the roadside. If anyone can spot signs of an increased level of Hinamizawa Syndrome, it's Miyo and the Yamainu. It may very well be possible that they did indeed try to harm Keiichi and/or Rena or at least spook them. The intended outcome could be two-fold: either Keiichi and/or Rena are freaked out enough to stop digging around (so to speak) or they are provoked enough that their paranoia becomes apparent and no one would believe their claims ("Aliens? No one in their right mind would believe that! Baka!"). Remember, in the first arc of Kai, Satoko believed that someone (a Yamainu scout) was stalking her and Rika, but no one would believe her, which began to fuel her paranoia, which could further discredit her (It's amazing how credibility evaporates when you're labeled as crazy. People don't know what, if anything you say can be believed.). It was a rainy night with no one around. Miyo could have just as easily ran Keiichi over and had the Yamainu dump him in the swamp, but this might have seemed more fun to her.

It's a Japanese urban legend that states one should forget the term "purple mirror" before they turn 20 years of age or they will die an early death.

So people have been asking me about a certain character who was introduced in Higurashi Kizuna 4. Just a few notes:

• The following will most likely be incomplete and/or inaccurate.
• As of writing this, I'm only about half-way through the related arc, and I haven't played it for about a month .
• My Japanese is not very good.
• Some of this knowledge is based on Katautsushi-hen (manga).

Spoiler for The purple-horned girl in Kizuna 4 and the related arc (MAJOR SPOILERS):

ハイ=リューン・イェアソムール・ジェダ (Hainiryuun Ieasomuuru Jieda)
Yes, it's a handful to pronounce (and write), and you aren't the only one who had trouble with it. I believe she is an oni, and is THE Oyashiro-sama (?).
She has a very wilful personality. She is assisted by someone called リューン＝オーク (she is not seen by the viewer).
Furude Riku, a Shinto priest, stumbles upon Hainryuun while is taking a bath. The poor guy is subsequently teased by the heroine (verbally). Since our heroine is the one designated to quell the war between the humans and the oni, she is to marry Riku. Since Riku cannot even remember her name, he decides to call her Hanyuu, which does not please the oni one bit. She does, however, eventually adopt her new name, even asking リューン＝オーク to refer to our heroine by this new name.
She moves in with Riku in the Furude house of Onigafuchi, where she learns about the way of being a miko (?). She is also taught proper manners and speech, which she finds rather difficult. At this point, Riku seems to press Hanyuu with a question, (which I don't quite understand, marriage?), only to get brutally knocked back every time.
About a year after moving in, Hanyuu is now seen wearing the miko outfit we all have seen her wear before. She dons a white veil that covers her horns. She is later introduced to Kimiyoshi Shino, and they both become good friends (Despite Shino having seen Hanyuu's horns, though Shino is not alarmed at this).

Hanyuu and Riku eventually have a daughter, Furude Ouka.

This is where I am up to, and that's about as best a summary I can give. I do apologise for leaving things out, as I don't fully understand everything that is written. I might add to it later, when I decide to finish Kizuna 4.

Thanks for explaining thing out !!! XD I have read Katautsushi-hen but it still didnt give enough explanation,and Ouka have a different hair styles than from the n-ds.Now i really want the anime arc on this!

Thank you. I played through this arc, but you understood it a lot better than I did. I hope you continue to update the summary when you finish Kizuna 4. I'm really interested in how Alchemist handles the "new character"'s backstory.

Where did Katautsushi-hen come from anyway? It's not an official arc, is it? I thought it was just artist interpretation.

Ryukishi07 would have at least had a hand in writing the story. The manga equivalent is proof of that.

When you say the manga equivalent, are you referring to Katautsushi-hen? I won't spoil it, but reading further into Kotohogushi-hen, the events doesn't really match up with the interpretation in Katautsushi-hen. I thought it was originally a oneshot. I have read the online scanlation of it, but I'm wondering what book it originally came from...?

Katautsushi-hen was not written by Ryukishi07? Oops. I guess some of it was canon in the end though.

Yeah. It's still a good oneshot though. XD I think the artist/author for Katautsushi-hen just took some of the known information on Ouka and Hanyuu to help create that story. =)

Katautsushi-hen is an oneshot from "Comic A La Carte", published by Kadokawa Shoten (Onisarashi-hen, Utsutsukowashi-hen, Kokoroiyashi-hen).
That comic book has 6-7 oneshots (I have the raws), most of them were scanlated by GGAL.

I have a question about Hanyuu.

What are her origins and how did she get supernatural powers? Apparently she was a mother who was killed or something and Rika's ancestor? I'm not sure exactly what happened

I haven't watched or played rei yet, so don't spoil too much outside Hanyuu. But seriously. I am not understanding the character. Or does she have plot holes?

Also, hypothetically speaking, say I write a story based on Higurashi that takes place in the far future, when Keiichi and the rest are old. Do I need to know anything about Umineko to understand Higurashi's future lore? If so, what ties does Higurashi have with Umineko? Or any important events in the lore that happened in its past?

Furthermore, is there any other lore or actual supernatural occurrences in Higurashi such as Oni for example, that occur in the lore but aren't explained in the Kai VNs? Just as I thought I had the plot figured out, I red some posts about Kizuna and now I'm confused just what the HELL went on in Hinamizawa when it was still Onigafuchi. Were there supernatural happenings or not? Are the explanations in the main VN just to mislead the player?

I'm not sure what happened to Miyoko, but I read that in the manga Eriko was fed to the chickens. I don't know the details.
