Indeed you can tell the spliced in parts from Bandai Channel from the regular TV quality in the Shin Mazinger subs just as well. It's really unfortunate, but the quality is apparently just that bad for all Bandai Channel stuff.

The time might be upon it for this show's thread (and Juuden-chan) to switch forums, since the first episode is up and running. I'm not wholly sure of the logistics of the story (for example: Koyomi and Misa look exactly the same as they did in the promo pictures, Yumiko a pantieless loli), but there's a whole cour left to find out. Not a bad watch, overall.

Also: end-show explanation of terminology with puppets. As far as I can tell, this world proves Clarke right. Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.

Well, that didn't go at all how I expected for the first ep. I've no idea what the original novels are like, but I'd read the manga chapters I could find (they're not in linear order either but not this extreme)

Is most of the rest of the series going to be a flash back (flash forwards?) then...?

"Hello, World" - I wonder how many programming in jokes we're going to get...

I notice that too... though it's not really an example of programmer in-jokes. I rather liked Yuki using SQL in the Haruhi novels, though maybe that's also why they stopped evolving

Personally, I'm not expecting too much in the way of in-jokes, since most people (including the anime staff) wouldn't get them. But you never know...

Going back to the episode itself, I did guess about the setup fairly quickly, but even this it was still rather confusing / frustrating. Made a bit more sense watching it again. Anyway, I was only ever looking for this series as light entertainment - I didn't have big expectations coming in. Our resident "Tub Wizard" did come off as rather more reliable than I expected though. I didn't expect a deadly magic battle to start with either...

So...uhm...did they change directors? Episode 01 was....confusing as hell...serious, and kind of brutal. They beat the crap out of the loli. The OP looks promising....like a cross of Toaru Majutsu nu Index and Nanoha.

After watching ep. 00 I was expecting something different than ep. 1. However, besides that, Yumiko is rather cute and.....bold... lol, must be refreshing running around feeling the cool breeze down south.

Putting everything else aside, in various ways, there was a lack of explanation in this episode... Quite a bit of lacking. The extra explanation at the end was somewhat understandable, at least. ...Well, it is only the first episode, and it seems they did not decide to start animating from the first chapter or something, for some brilliant reason I don't understand, so maybe everything will come to light in the future episodes? ...So I believed in Asura Crying... But it turned out like that... ... As for the rest... Op/ED are average. The character designs... Really... pale... The coloring in this anime makes it hard to tell where every part of the character is... The story... feels rather dull... The pacing or tempo or something... just feels off. It doesn't help that they suddenly throw us into the middle of something. No way I can feel anything emotional towards the main character's screaming over something... There is also the fact the heroine has Fuuko's voice... By the way, how small is the population in that city? In many shots, there was a lack of people. You'd think people would pay attention to big large explosions. shiver I don't want to meet a small girl in the park talking loudly to herself... Heh~ You can use magic by just saying those words? Let me go try... ...... ... ...... ... Kuh... It didn't work. I swung a knife around while chanting those words, but nothing came out! Why!? By the way, this antagonist is pretty nice guy, isn't he? Waiting around like that until they were ready to fight. Preview: Now the first episode? Just like I said with Natsu no Arashi, you should just start there... Mm~... A rather rocky start... The part where the wind blows and shows the girl wasn't wearing anything was pretty funny, but the serious plot on some glowing guy chasing this girl who believes she is some special existence and talks loudly to herself outside isn't keeping my attention... Well, let's wait and see how it goes.... If you don't want those panties she threw at you, boy, give em' here! Chibi Yumiko-chan is all cute and cuddly! and seems the wee brother was rather laid back and causal but seeing how his sister is and the other girls around him are, no surprise he turns out how he is from ep 0 __________________

O.o ep 1 Spoiler: Nevermind that, what kind of guy sets his familiar to beat the crap out of a loli! The enemy of mankind thats what! GRRRRRRRR! Anyway, while episode 00 was simply delightful to watch with the pan jokes and all, it is sad that I can't say that it was completely true for this episode mainly because of how confusing it became. I simply had no idea what was going on watching this and I can only guess that Koyomi somehow went into the past and is trying to find her way back to the future...although she doesn't seem the least bit worry about being stuck in the past, how nice is it to be so carefree like her. We see a young Yumiko running away from home to find her path in magic or something like that whilst wearing no pants...what...yes she was wearing no pants because earlier she took them off and threw them into some bullies who then broke down and cried...what?? Mind rape you say? Yes it is The mood of this episode was lacking quite a bit and I even felt bored at parts (the dreaded feeling for any series) so hopefully the next episode will actually explain what the hell has happened.
