Why am I not surprised...

Yay! I finally got one. Go Misuzu! And I have no complaints about any of the others getting in.

Can't be explained by loss of Touhou votes alone. Touhou characters only garnered maximum of little over 200 votes in all the rounds.

Touhou votes in order of highest to lowest from all rounds:-

Reimu 219 (Round 1)
Remilia 208 (Round 2)
Marisa 203 (Round 2)
Patchouli 202 (Round 2)
Aya 176 (Round 1)
Marisa 155 (Round 1)
Remilia 151 (Round 1)
Patchouli 119 (Round 1)

I think It's because not all Touhou fans are supporting every Touhou character. Just because 219 is the most garnered, doesn't mean all Touhou fans where a fan of that one character. I'm sure some votes lost where caused by top 8 already moving on(although 5 of those 8 are Touhou) - But 400votes don't vanish out of thin air for no reason.

Perhaps, but that would mean they're 400 or more Koreans voting in ISML...But really, it takes a few seconds to vote, so I don't think THAT many would abstain.

Official KyoAni count is now 17 girls in...two left (Mei was really, really close behind Misuzu.)

Chii was also really close behind Shinku. Looks like Gin and Desu will be happy.

Osaka did worse than I expected...but Makoto plowed that group.

And Nagi owned her group without any questions asked.

(What was that about fearing Korea?)

I'm just saying it cannot be explained by Touhou votes disappearing alone cos that assumes Touhou votes are 400 strong which is a proposition I dismiss. Just like you dismiss the proposition of 400 or more Koreans disappearing from ISML because of the Lunar New Year. But put both those explanations together then the 400 vote disappearance is explainable.

I know of at least some Touhou votes sticking around and continuing to vote. And I also would not dismiss the Lunar New Year as a big factor, because it is a huge thing for the communities involved in it. Not just Korea, but China, Singapore, Malaysia etc..

2/4 on my predictions, not too bad. I'm just glad Misuzu and Makoto are finally in... Nagi too.

Not to rag on the Touhou crowd, but it was frankly irritating to see characters from a single-episode fan-made OVA dominate like this... Especially when the only characters breaking through are all very serious contenders for the top 16!

I guess I overestimated Korea. Completely forgot about the Lunar New Year.

Well, it looks like the whole game shifted all of a sudden with the 400 votes gone.

And my confidence in Seto San just took a plunge.

EDIT: My total for preliminaries: 1/12

Minty, any way of knowing the voting demographic of the past and current matches for prelims?

Graph showing the drops in votes for characters in Round 3 compared with the votes they gathered in Round 2

Round 3 votes are shown in the more opaque bars on top, Round 2 votes in the more transparent bars on the bottom.

I'm not too sure that ISML actively tracks voter demographics by geography...

IP tracking can give at least a guess as to geography...assuming the IP Addresses are being used in their home location.

This time only Shinku won from the ones I voted. But I liked that Nagi is in but it wasn't a priority for me.
