Misaki is doing pretty well in the poll though... After railgun III, I do think Misaki will be popular enough. After Index III, I think Mugino might be popular enough... but Index IV would most probably make her popular enough. I'm not talking about having the mangas come out right now... that would be ridiculous!

I'm just saying it would be cool if they came out at some point once they have their debuts. I mean those characters are some of the best characters in the series (subjectively) if you've read through LN 22 and more than that if you've read through NT 7.

If Misaki is popular already with only her recent showings, as soon as she gains more importance in the LN's, anime, etc. It will sky rocket even further is what dniv's trying to say, I think. She is definitely set-up for that, will it happen anytime soon or at all? that's the question.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Though if Misaki becomes a much more important character in NT (appears more) and in the railgun manga (in subsequent arcs) I don't think it would actually be that necessary for her to have her own-spinoff even though it would certainly be desirable.

Knowing Kamachi, he will probably just leave Misaki again. Just like the other characters. Looking at NT 8. It looks like her only appearance is at that time where she provoke Mikoto.

I don't think you people realized what you're asking for- In general the reason why certain side characters are 'awesome' is because they're side characters and they appear less and in small doses.

There's this as well to factor in. Because there can be too much of one thing.

Though the point is that I really see most characters in Index as main characters. Kamachi said it himself that Touma is just easiest to write in any situation. So in reality, I think that Kamachi implies that he picks Touma as a main character because it is convenient to tell the plot, but if he wanted to he would develop the other characters just as much because they are all just as important.

Calling them side characters in Raildex seems silly, because in reality most characters will eventually have some backstory told about them and they will appear enough times to tell us something about them. IMO I prefer characters with more good character development always to less developed characters with the same quality of development. Since Kamachi's level of quality in his development seems to be near 100%, I would feel that seeing more of a character would only make me like that character more. The characters feel more real if you see them in more situations and you can get a better idea of how the author really envisions them to be IMO.

IMO when the series does end... if it does

Kamachi would just start focusing on the less developed characters to build up the story more because all of the stories there are entertaining and have very different aspects to them.

The most important quality of Index as a franchise I will say is that it brings every character into the spotlight (except Aisa

) in order to purposely give the idea of a rich and varied world with a ton of world-building and realistic characters and scenarios that is pretty well-defined. In that sense, seeing more of a character is only a problem when an inconsistency happens, but I haven't seen one yet with any of the characters, so I don't really think that would be a problem to worry about.

This is why I would like to see a manga of a lot of the less developed characters, because Kamachi could give them amazing development in the side-stories rather than in the main plot of Index.

I really agree with you on this except it would probably have to wait until after season 4 comes out when Hamazura will finally hopefully really get popular!
