Excellent first episode. Animation was great and as delightfully quirky as always. Getting Hanekawa's side of things is certainly interesting, it really sucked me into the episode, since it felt much longer than it actually was, to the point that I was surprised when it ended. Senjougahara was great, she's still herself, but in a much healthier way. That part was very well handled, I think.

Everything had changed.

Koyomi's not doing his narrative, Tsubasa's homeless after a sudden fire, and Hitagi is slowly showing her sincerest emotions.

I find that the interactions between Tsubasa and Hitagi, while interesting, feels a bit sudden, since Nise and Neko Black were a long time ago. But considering Hitagi's question, it's just what Tempest35 had said. She's just making sure that she sees what Tsubasa is up to, and the only way to do that is by being friendly to her.

Hitagi without her emotions is scary, but Hitagi with her full arsenal of emotions is an entirely different monster to tackle.
However, it's not like Tsubasa cannot defend herself. Those split-second thoughts of hers can pack a punch, but not as direct as Hitagi's.

And does Tsubasa wear a completely wireless bra? It can barely contain Tsubasa's big fat cat tats.

After getting a full episode of short haired Hanekawa, I think it's lovely now. (Though she looks better than she did in Nise)

Back in season 1, I remember SHAFT used the red or black screen flashes to indicate when they were actually skipping over novel source material. In the same way, the numbered flashes denoted (I presume) skipped chapter boundaries here. This conscientious/faithful treatment of the source material, which directly acknowledges parts where the adaptation was skimped on, is something I really appreciate about SHAFT's style 'cause it lets me at least imagine what I'm missing, and show's a respect for/intertextuality with the original work.

Yeah, the "missing chapter" thing isn't just a joke, but a lot of things in this series are like that.

Those are placed far less purposefully than they were in Bake; it almost feels as though whoever is directing this is using them only because they feel obligated to.

Because she spent the whole night running around in a panic. She even said that was why, in fact.
It also has to do with this being the first we've seen of Senjougahara since she confronted Kaiki and came to terms with her past, which had a pretty extraordinary effect on her personality.

I want to mention that the tiger was voiced by Saiga Mitsuki. I don't think he has done anything major.

Um.
Mitsuki Saiga has done a good number of major roles (including the protagonist of Shinbo's own Soul Taker) and is also, for that matter, a woman.

That said, that choice of underwear was deadly. You can't contain em with just cheap ones.
Honestly, I'm still stunned with that Hanekawa stripping scene. Such a heavenly body.

It's just kind of hard for me to buy that she'd go to such lengths unless Araragi has really been rubbing off on her, which is possible, but I'd wish they would have eased that in better if that were the case.

That's not the only curious thing that has happened...... for whatever reason I was under the impression that Mayoi can only be seen by Arrrrararragi-san.

Mayoi could originally be seen by anyone who, for whatever reason, does not wish to go home. I don't know whether that still applies to her current existence, but Hanekawa doesn't have anything she can call a home to begin with, so...

Hanekawa saw Mayoi back in the first arc it was relevant (Mayoi Snail). This was a bit of misdirection by the writer because it turned out that Mayoi could only be seen by people who don't want to go home. Also foreshadowing of course.

It's unclear how exactly Mayoi works now that she's leveled up and is no longer a lost snail ghost though.

i think it is stragatic decision. knowing Ararararagi he would probably offer a homeless hanekawa a place to sleep in his house. Most likely she would ed up in his room.

Offering Hanekawa a place heads that off at the pass.

Hanekawa could see Mayoi in s1, i think oshino explain it that only people who didn't want to go home can see Mayoi.

Now I have to ask why Araragi can still see Mayoi. If the answer requires spoiler which will be revealed in the future, you can ignore the question.

If there is a reason, I don't know.

In that case, I think Mayoi can now appear in front of anyone, but chooses to hide around people she doesn't know. Maybe she's just shy?
