Well, I'm a manga reader and I haven't sat through a single episode entirely. Have heard the full OP and ED, though.

While I understand the "Mio = moe whore" sentiments, I never do get that feeling from reading the manga. And since it's Mio that's leading the girls in the ED, I can't bring myself to see her as moe. Her singing voice kicks ass.

I don't see Mio as shit to be quite frank. She's easily the most non entertaining character in the entire show. Hell, she's one dimensional at this point.

I'm still scratching my head over the absurd amount of attention she's getting.

She's the Butt Monkey/Chew Toy of the band. Sawako dresses her like a doll, and she is quite shy by nature (read: can't say no and mean it). Apparently, those turn a lot of people on.

I think the manga was careful not to overdo that, and Mio does assert herself somewhat more frequently over there.

I just want the younger girls to have more appearances.

Er... it's the juniors and quite frankly, with two of them, they seem to do more work making the manga work than the 4 seniors. Something is not right here.

I'd be more concerned about the talking points of the show rather than why I am still watching this.

Your whole argument seems to be predicated on the idea that my expectations are not fair to this show because it is totally different from what I think it should be. Well it is a pretty lame argument to be honest. With that logic nothing should be criticized because it is what it is, and if you don't like it, don't watch it and move onto another show. Am I not understanding something here?

The obsession with Mio I believe has to do with the ED + her charactre design. That and the fact that she is truly a moe whore now and has gained the attention of the masses.

Unlike Hidamari Sketch, which saved its anime butt by expanding on Chika and Natsume, K-On so far has centered on the core characters. The gags do get old very quickly.

We shall see. There are at least five or six episodes left, and the preview does state something about looking for new members.

And the anime is pretty much following the manga scene for scene. Most of the added stuff is on Yui.

Aren't they supposed to be adding a new character next week though? That's not to say they won't just end up falling upon a single basic routine for her (yes I say her even though I don't know who it is because come on....), but it might at least be a brief jolt for the shows overall act.

They couldn't have done it faster, IMO. I think some of the viewers here can hardly stand another episode with only the core cast around.

Can't say more on the new character, though.

Oh, I'm dreadfully sorry, I was under the impression that the nature of this series is a talking point, seeing how it was such a big factor in shaping expectations in this forum. I suppose my pointing that out, despite being fairly obvious, simply comes across as too politically incorrect for those who might feel their credibility threatened by such an action.

Look, my expectations for the series were based on the nature of this series that we saw in the first two episodes, and the nature of this series completely veered off course! Apparently I cannot type English since you do not understand?...
