I don't suppose they're planning to use a new OP only for the last few episodes like Gundam Wing?

I don't know about you, but I'm fine with the current one at the moment (although that could very well change when I hear the new one )

Well, if they're ever going to show the new OP, it'll be next episode, since
Spoiler:
I like the current Shana OP as it is too, although, like FinalD, that opinion could change when I actually see the new OP.

Shakugan no Shana Ep. 16

Episode 16 title: Enpatsu Shakugan no Uchite

It was an awesome conclusion to the flashback/birth of Shana as Flame Haze arc... or the "why Shana likes melon bread so much" arc. ^_^

This episode was full of battles, flashback revelations, and tender scenes. I'm sorry to see it end.

I have pics and spoilers here.

Eh, you're wrong about that. ^_^

And episode 16 was just amazing. This series just keeps climbing higher and higher on my all time favorites list.

I feel like im missing something.

The battles lacked suspense. Allthough the combatants looked much stronger than
the enemies Shana has fought in the present time, she had little trouble defeating
them....

I dunno, perhaps shana has gotten weaker since then....

Also, I really dont get the sense of who she was when she was alive.

Sure, its great that she loves wilhelmina and the skeleton... what about mommy
and daddy, childhood friends, brothers and sisters, etc... Was she always a ghost??

i dont get it.

She's not a ghost; she's an orphan. It was explained at the beginning of the arc that she was an orphan that they took in. A living orphan, not a torch. Hence there is no mommy or daddy -- only Wilhelmina and Alastor.

It's too bad they had to cram everything to get it to fit. What would be nice would be for the animators to create an OVA series describing the story of Mathilde, Wilhelmina and Merihim, since it seemed there was a lot of things being hinted but not explained.

Man, I'm starting to like the ED song a lot more, especially the melty chord progression for its chorus.

Spoiler for question for episode 3:

Spoiler for question for episode 3:
I don't know about an OVA, but they may animate more backstory involving Mathilde and Wirhelmina later. According to the guidebook I bought, it takes place in 16th century Rome. This particular arc was "episode 5" (I assume it's novel 5), and the other flashback arc takes place in "episode 10." It looks like they're taking about 3 to 4 TV episodes per arc.

Spoiler:
See my blog ^_~

Ah thx, missed that.

I was somehow assuming you had to die before becoming a flame-haze,

but now the part where shana said she was the same as the misutesu guy makes sense

suman!

---edit:
I rewatched that part and I think I see it now.
When he said they "picked her up on a whim" and that the "accident" was unfortunate,
and that she had nowhere to go makes more sense if she was not an orphan..

I had kindof assumed that she was killed and they picked her up as a ghost i guess....
Being able to fight with the skeleton shiro at that level as a fleshy human seems so unlikely...
Did you read the novel or why are you assuming she was an orphan?
I'd be interested to know what "fukou na dekigoto" they were referring to...

Maybe there was a car crash or something, and shana was too young to remember her
family?

Ep 16 rocked. Incredibly. That piano rendition of the first op, combined with the whole scene in general, all of it was great. The intro to the 2nd ED works beautifully too.

AND I WANT SHAKUGAN NO SHANA-TAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
