You know these kids better than anyone on the forum so just give them the stuff YOU belive they'll like. My guess is a 7 year old would be bored to death by a shows like bottle fairy and ocha ken.

Well that was just a guess about Ocha-ken, but it's probably off target. My nieces loved Ocha-ken, and would be happy to watch it over and over. I don't think they are even reading the subs all that well (the older one is a bit proud of her reading skills, she's all like "of course I was reading them") but the show is easy to follow.
But I haven't shown them anything else. ( I read and spot-translated Yotsuba to! to them and they thought that really rocked, though). If they want to make an effort when they get older it's all good, but I am not big on trying to get people to like X and Y anyway. By the time they are older there will be plenty around for them to choose from, in the meantime they just want to watch Disney and stuff. I think the Ghibli stuff is mostly OK but nothing else really.
