It's faithful to the manga, while still maintaining the charm... hoping future episodes do the same.
Also, I'm suddenly hungry for some squid ink spaghetti...

The successor to Mitsudomoe this season, I think. I never expected it would be so damn funny.
Squid ink sauce is pretty creepy, seeing how it coats the noodles so perfectly..it gives a weird smooth texture. Everybody was enjoying it so much outside while Squid girl was puking her brains out behind that door. I thought the big sister would lose out in presence to the short haired hair sister but she was unexpectedly scary. It was great to see the tentacle hair regenerating like some kind of sci-fi weapon. They really went out of their way to animate them moving energetically. |

I loved almost all of that - pretty much zero mistakes in the first episode. I love how the story just jumped feet-first into the wacky premise with barely any exposition. I thought all four of the lead characters were really well-portrayed and the humor was spot-on across the board. For a light and silly comedy, it would be hard to get off to a better start.
I know Musume is a dead-ringer for Index but that actually reminded me a bit of Yoshinaga San'chi no Gargoyle. Strange creature lands with odd but lovable family, screwy but very smart comedy, lots of kawaii and lots of heart. I definitely consider that comparison a compliment and I hope this one can stay at that high level.

Hmm, seems like this will be a good light-hearted comedy I can just relax and enjoy without thinking too much about it for this season. It's a funny first episode, but I hope they will either expand the cast or develop the character a bit more as I think the humor can get pretty stale after a while. Oh, and just like Blaat, squid is also one of my favorite food, so I think I need to stock up on some giant destructive squids footage to enjoy them again.

better question would be: is the ink even healthy for human?
