Personally, I always try to watch the dubbed versions of series with a western theme, and subs otherwise. The problem here is that the voices perfectly capture any Western stereotypes (such as Shinku's aristocratic tone of voice), but are still japanese X_X it's kinda confusing.

Well, English isn't my first language so I couldn't care less about dubs, but I quite often check them, before switching back to japanese. Althought an aristocratic, british voice for Shinku is must.
The fact that it was Geneon who got this makes me very happy, and I can't wait for DVDs. So yeah, what took so long? |

I'm going to hate the dubs.
Predictions: 1) Suiseiseki will either be too slow and drama-queenish or Excel-Excel-fast, neither of which are at all appealing. 2) Souseiseki will sound totally deadpan. 3) Shinku and Sugintou might actually do fine if they don't sound drama-ish. 4) Hina Ichigo...alright I guess. 5) Jun needs to sound like Ash Ketchum or he will suck. 6) As for Nori, don't even go there. |

The news is very vague right now. We just know that Geneon "licensed Rozen Maiden" and that there will be a spring 2007 release. Listening to the Geneon Podcast that had the "guess our new license" contest clues in it, they references 2-12 episode seasons as one of the clues.
Sometime next week (Tuesday maybe?) there should be a clarification. Personally I think they picked up both seasons but not Ouverture. Animesuki has only taken action on season 1 since it's clear that it is licensed. ~traumend~'s status is unknown currently, and Ouverture is not licensed. It probably will be, though if RM sells well in the R1 market.

Don't companies usually license one season at a time? It kinda makes sense. They might not want to waste money on multiple seasons of anime at once if people aren't going to like it. Of course, there's no denying that massive fandom behind Rozen Maiden, but I think that's what they're doing. Then they can use their profits off Rozen Maiden to get Traumend, and then Ouverture.
That's just my guess. |

The acting might have been a little emotionless (or so I'd find) but it would have been so much cooler in the long run.
And that press release...WTF? How do we know Alice is actually human. Alice (although she is probably human) might be a doll or a pixie or a imp or something, but seriously...the press release...it fails.

About f'ing time.
They'd need some incredible ingenuity and a couple miracles to produce a good English dub tho. I really hope they don't try to make some english equivalent of the desu~. Disgaea's "zam" worked ok, but not so in Rozen Maiden's case imo. Easy way out is just to stick to accent/tone. btw, yes that is one scary press release... ; ; Last edited by ImperialPanda; 2007-01-16 at 15:20. |

Yeah, well, in a spanish article about it I saw a definition for Alice as "a perfect doll, who is a lot similar to a human being". I have not find something closer to it.
And, it's finally licensed!!! I wonder how many time will pass before they dub it to a spanish version (it has to happen, latin american producers do exactly as the americans do, and I believe Spain does its own version -for the accent). |

Yay, I can't wait for the dvds! First they licensed Ichigo Mashimaro, then Kamichu, and now Rozen Maiden!!! Thank you Geneon, for licensing series I love but never thought would be licenced because of their lack of mecha, violence, and big boobs! Here's hoping more titles like these will be licensed in the future. |
