Looking good!
Now you need to tackle the perspective problem: the "camera" angle on Mai's pic is from above and slightly angled. You need to make the grass mimic what it would look like from that angle. I suggest tilting it up slightly and stretching it out some until it looks natural (I suggest tilting the grass until it reaches the bottom of Mai's ribbon).

I made my first episode 15 wallpaper.

I've got a couple of more ideas for wallpapers from this episode, so this is just a start.

Edit: Just thinking of what I've got planned for the next one scares me. I don't know if I can pull it off.

My next wallpaper: Mai Hope

A preemptive sorry for anybody who's Blue/Yellow colour-blind.

Now the next one will come later. First a break. Making these tires me out. What do you guys think?

I changed up the Mai Hope wallpaper a bit. I think the newer background for the Hope side works better, but I don't know if the other changes are good or bad. What do you guys think?

I'd suggest to even remove the dark blue part on the right side now. The more beautiful background, the better (for me).

Yes, that's what I meant. I wonder whether the division line between the two parts has to be exactly vertical; both heads are bending a bit to the right, perhaps the division line could to the same? ("H / M" instead of "H | M")

Well, I made the change along with a couple of others.

I'm not too sure how well it turned out though.

My third Mai wallpaper(that's straight out Mai, not young Mai, not Mai's mother, just Mai).

It was a better idea in my head then it is in execution. These outline-of-Mai wallpapers don't really turn out that well.

Well that's it for the ideas I got from watching episode 15. Anybody got ideas I can use for new wallpapers, or suggestions for how to improve my previous ones?

wah!!!!! They're all pretty ... however, for desktop work you might invert the triple Mai silhouette colors. ...

You mean like this?

I just basically took my old Mai wallpapers' vectors, traced a third, and put them all together. I originally had black on white, but I decided to invert it for some reason. I still don't know why, and I still don't know which one looks better.

aye.. that's it.. it also makes it easier for me to "paintbucket" different shades (nothing against the result but I like to use muted tones for wallpaper otherwise I'm losing the icons in the glare )

I think this one ties for my favorite with the "star-filled" Mai

If you don't mind, I would like to see the result. You could've requested a certain colour background/foreground, I wouldn't have minded doing something as simple as that.

And those happen to be my two least favourites… Oh well, if someone can enjoy them, that's good for them. It means that my work wasn't wasted.

My Mai Hope wallpaper is my current favourite. Doesn't mean much because my favourite is usually the latest one I do, but there's a bunch of things I like about it that I didn't realise until it was done. There's Hope's mature and confident smile contrasting Mai's eyes that are filled with child-like wonder. Seeing them back-to-back like that I think works very well.

Just as a piece to look at or a nice screensaver pic, the Mai/Hope one is indeed the best... its just that what works for stellar piece of art doesn't always fly well as a desktop (too busy, color choice, etc) for me.

My favorite pics get put into my screensaver pic folder where they rotate in display.

After the disaster that was my desktop on a previous computer, I keep my desktop now pretty clean with only a few icons on it. So wallpapers are just a nice thing to look at whenever I happen to minimize all of my windows, which happens every now and then.

Maybe I'll work on making the wallpapers more icon-friendly then.

Edit:
This is a little technique I use for when the colour is a little busy. Usually, I just use it to overlay text in a way that makes it readable while keeping what's underneath still visible. Hopefully the same can help for wallpapers.

This doesn't work too well on my Mac(or rather it doesn't look too well) because the top part is cut off a bit. Hopefully it'll look better in Windows.

I don't keep too many icons .... usually I just have the "most used" on the left or right of the screen and the rest go into a couple of desktop folders.

My sons both have severe icon-itus on their screens.. I have no idea why they bother with wallpaper
